March Resolution Badge Details!

How comfortable are you with getting outside of your comfort zone? What skills have you been meaning to sharpen? Our monthly Capture Streak Badges are centered on a year of self-improvement, and March is no different. While January focused on eating healthy and February involved making new friends, March will be the month of picking up new hobbies!

Underwater sweater knitting, anyone?

Each month’s badge will be dedicated to accomplishing a different New Year’s Resolution. Similar to how our Super Streak badges operate, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one munzee* each day for the entire month. Even if you missed out on the last two months, it’s never too late to get in on the healthy and happy living! The extra Munzee badge is just an added bonus.

The Importance of Hobbies

What’s your favorite hobby? (I mean aside from Munzee, of course.) While many of us feel consumed by our day to day lives, you don’t have to wait until retirement to explore your hobbies. And if you are already retired, you’re in luck! It’s time to start exploring what you enjoy. Carving a part out of each day to devote to activities that nourish you physically, mentally, and spiritually is tantamount to achieving overall health and well-being.

Maybe you fell out of touch with a cherished childhood activity or you’ve been meaning to explore a new activity for years. Whatever the case, having a hobby is proven to be beneficial for your mind and body. Hobbies are an excellent stress reliever, which has benefits for both your mental happiness and your overall physical health. It’s crucial to remember to take a break and unwind with an enjoyable activity in order to give yourself some important relaxation time.

At the same time, hobbies allow the opportunity for new experiences and challenges. Shake up the normal routine of your daily life and allow your brain to focus on something new. The mental stimulation will be rewarding, while allowing the chance to explore and discover new talents. Who knows what hidden hobby you will discover in yourself! It might even prove to be financially lucrative, while learning new skills can advance your career.

Don’t allow your free time to be wasted! Enrich your spirit by picking up a new hobby this month. Oh and don’t forget to cap something every day this month too!

* In order to encourage active gameplay we will not count Social Munzees for these capture streaks. If you know you’ll be in an area without munzees, plan ahead!

Introducing New Flower Evolutions!

Winter may still be in full swing for some of you (and it might be summer Down Under), but we’re anticipating spring here at MHQ. Weather changes moods, and the anticipation of the season of new life has inspired us to bring you Flower Evolutions, the latest in our line of Evolution Munzees. And we decided why stop at one when we can bring you four brand new Evolutions to enjoy!

Flower Evolutions

Our Flower Evolutions will include four new munzees, each equipped with the ability to evolve five stages and into a variety of different colors. The Rose, Tulip, and Lily are all physical munzees, and the Carnation is a virtual munzee. To start off three of the Flower Evos will only be available via March MunzPak subscriptions, the full contents of which will be revealed on March 1 at 10:00 MHQ time. Please note that if you buy a MunzPak before 00:01 MHQ on March 1 it will still be February’s contents.

The fourth Flower Evo can only be purchased from authorized Munzee Resellers, which you can learn more about here: https://www.munzee.com/retail/

You can find the point structure for Flower Evos below, but these do work differently than other Evolution Munzees. Since there are five stages each will evolve over the course of 70 days total.

  • Stage 1 to Stage 2: after 7 days
  • Stage 2 to Stage 3: after 14 days
  • Stage 3 to Stage 4: after 21 days
  • Stage 4 to Stage 5: after 28 days

The first four stages (Seed, Germination, Growth, Bud) will be the same for each type of Flower Evo, but when it blossoms in stage five it has the chance of turning into multiple colors. Please note that although the first four stages for each are the same, they will count as different special capture icons.

The stages include:

  • Stage 1: Seed
  • Stage 2: Germination
  • Stage 3: Growth
  • Stage 4: Bud
  • Stage 5: Blossom

At stage five the Rose will be able to blossom into one of four different colors, while the Tulip and Lily can both evolve to three color options. Additionally, the virtual Carnation can evolve to one of five different colors at stage five.

This new line of munzees will fit into the overall Evolution Munzees category. There will only be one capture per stage for a total of five stages per flower, so there will be no multi-captures. The Carnation can be captured via Blast Cap in each of its five stages. The capture radius will be 300 feet for all types. When deploying a Flower Evolution, be sure to adhere to normal Proximity Rules. That means no less than 50 feet from others and 150 from your own munzees. To access the Flower Evolutions, turn on your “Evolution Filters.” These will count toward Evolution Capture and Deploy badges as well.

Additionally, an Evolution Reset Credit can be purchased to set your Evolution back to Stage 1. If a Flower Evo is reset there is a chance it will evolve into a different color at stage five than it was before. Although you cannot capture a reset if you have already captured the original, you CAN capture the final level of a reset if it evolves to a different color than your first capture. An easy way to know is, if you see it on the map you can capture it!

Points

Points will depend on order of growth and type of munzee. All physical Flower Evolutions will have the same points, while the virtual Carnation will have a different point structure. Points are all follows:

Physical

  • Capture: 20 (Stage 1), 30 (Stage 2), 45 (Stage 3), 60 (Stage 4), 75 (Stage 5)
  • CapOn: 60 (Stage 1), 50 (Stage 2), 45 (Stage 3), 35 (Stage 4), 25 (Stage 5)

Who said flowers were just for Valentine’s Day? We think these Flower Evolutions are more romantic than any bouquet!

LegaZeeOps- Operation: No Vacancy (March 2019)

Agents, ZeeOps HQ’s system has been hacked and all of our files on past missions have been erased! You’ll have to recreate past Operations in what we’re calling LegaZeeOps. It’s up to you to keep the legacy of this organization in tact. The missions for this month are the same that were originally available in May 2017’s Operations.

Following your victories, the Mean Green Gang has gone on the run. It’s up to you to find where they’re hiding by searching Munzee Destinations worldwide. Look for undercover Mean Green Gang members by capturing and deploying Hotel, Motel, Resort and Timeshare Munzees. Simply searching various Destinations won’t be enough to find the hidden Mean Green Gang members though. Prove the area is secured by renting rooms in Destination Munzees of any type. Remember that there are a limited number of rooms in each Destination Munzee, so you’ll need to be quick to capture when a new one is deployed near you.

ZeeOps HQ was able to salvage archived footage from May 2017’s Operations.
Watch the video below to see Director Zee’s debriefing.

March 2019 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Remember that if you hit a snag at any point in your Operation you can use the Mission Mulligan feature to keep going!

This month is all about Destination Munzee types so be sure to stock up in the online store before there’s NO VACANCY!

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the new* “LegaZeeOps- Operation: No Vacancy” badge.

*All LegaZeeOps badges are different from the badge earned during the initial run of the month’s Operations. So players who earned the “Operation: No Vacancy” badge can also earn the “LegaZeeOps- Operation: No Vacancy” badge as well by completing a March 2019 Operation.

Introducing Cinema Places Munzees!

Seen any good movies lately? It may be too cold for some of you to do much hunting, but there are still ways to get out of the house, have fun, stay warm… and cap some points. Yes, I’m talking about going to the cinema. But what does that have to do with Munzee? I’m glad you asked. MHQ is pleased to announce the introduction of our latest type of Places Munzee: Cinemas!

Starting at 15:00 MHQ on February 25, the Cinema Places Munzees will be available for $10 in the Freeze Tag Online Store, along with all of the previous Places Munzees. Cinema Places Munzees can be deployed at movie theaters and cinemas around the world. Please note that stage theatres will not be accepted, and your submissions should be easily identifiable from Google Maps.

Like the other Places Munzees, Cinema Places Munzees will be deployed from players’ accounts in adherence to proper point and proximity structure. The Cinema Places Munzees will have a 1,000 ft capture radius. They will not be blastable, but they can be captured daily. You can access the Cinema Places Munzees by turning on your Places filter.

Points

  • Deploy: 40
  • Capture: 20
  • CapOn: 10

As a friendly reminder, Places Munzees must be verified by MHQ once they are submitted for deployment. Please allow up to 2 business days for approval before emailing support. Announcing New Team Owned Bouncer Badges!

Feel like you’re deserving of another badge for your monumental Munzee accomplishments? We’re releasing a line of badges for capturing each of a person’s Team Owned Bouncers (TOB) going live today at 15:00 MHQ!

A badge will be rewarded after you manage the tricky feat of capturing all of a person’s TOBs (including AlternaMyths and the Hadavale Pouch Creature). These badges will be hidden, but they will also be retroactive since we can’t let your hard work thus far go unnoticed.

Each badge will count for all current TOBs, but if a new TOB is released, the badge requirements will update as well. That means it’s time to start hunting, because now is your best chance at earning these badges! The more TOBs we release, the trickier it’s going to get.

There’s a number of players on the Freeze Tag Team, so if you manage to earn all 22 badges, you really are a Munzee champ. Think it can be done?

Freeze Tag Team Accounts

UPDATE: As of January 21st the following badges are no longer be available: matthewmccann, dafi87, violetblonde.

Good luck, and Munzee on!

February GOTM Winners! Featuring Community Stories

Last month we were happy to announce our first ever Garden(s) of the Month winners. We also had the pleasure of recognizing an additional 35 players as Players of the Month for their Virtual Garden buildings skills, as it was our January POTM criteria. This left us with lots of excellent choices to pick from for our February GOTM!

This recognition is meant to honor a variety of our outstanding Virtual Garden builders who have helped to create some of our most memorable gardens. As many of you might recall, GOTM is an extra special award, because all players who deployed in the winning gardens will receive badges as well! Our winning February Virtual Gardens are the Richard Petty Garden, organized by markcase, and the Greer Train Garden, organized by Dlovegrove!

The February Gardens of the Month appear as follows:

The Richard Petty Garden organized by markcase in Greensboro, North Carolina

The Greer Train Garden organized by Dlovegrove in Greer, South Carolina.

All players who deployed in these respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges!

Player Stories

Not only did we enjoy the design and execution of these gardens, but we also selected this month’s winners based off the stories behind the Virtual Gardens. Munzee is a social game, and we love hearing about how gameplay impacts the community in positive ways!

Richard Petty Garden

The Richard Petty Garden earns the distinction of being one of the oldest Munzee Virtual Gardens in North Carolina. It also earns some major bonus points for being blessed by former NASCAR Driver Richard Petty himself!

Mark Case has been a dedicated Munzee player for rounding seven years, a period of which he has spent designing gardens for a variety of players. According to Case, several years ago he received permission to place a geocache on the property of Petty Enterprise. However, he was later asked to remove it due to property violations from overeager players. Case decided that a Munzee Virtual Garden would be the perfect way to honor Petty without disrupting his land.

With Petty’s permission, Case was permitted by Petty Enterprises to use the “43” logo modeled in the garden. With assistance from Craig Williams, Case was able to finish the coding needed to get the garden structured. On January 12, 2016, the Richard Petty Garden was successfully filled in thanks to player contributions. Case currently keeps a lookout for player holes caused by inactivity in order to preserve the garden. He is happy to share that Petty has officially blessed his titular garden, and the two have met in person!

Munzee player and February GOTM winner Mark Case (left) meets former NASCAR driver and voice actor Richard Petty, who he designed a Virtual Garden in honor of.

Greer Train Garden

Our second February GOTM win goes to David Lovegrove, who did the tricky work of putting the spreadsheets together for the Greer Train Garden. This set of mini-gardens runs on the real world Norfolk Southern railroad tracks. The master plan for the design was devised by David’s 12-year-old son, Jonathan, and his best friend Henry. These creative young men also came up with their own logo design for the Virtual Garden.

The group’s first Garden in the Greenville area was the Clemson Tiger Paw. However, as the Garden neared completion, the boys begged David to make a garden for Greer, South Carolina where they were concentrating their growth efforts. David desired to design a manageable size so that it could be more easily filled in. The team came up with the perfect solution: a train garden, where everyone fills up the engine one car at a time! The boys designed a logo and brainstormed ideas for the train garden at school every day as they strove to bring their dreams to fruition.

The young friends came up with the master plan for the Garden, while David worked the technicalities of their vision. The idea behind the design was to fill up the locomotive design and tender before adding on cars one-by-one. This layout allows for continual expansion, while allowing the Garden to appear “finished” even as it continues to grow!

This isn’t the only time David has joined forces with his son in relations to Munzee. The father and son duo enjoy collaborating on fun and funny designs, such as “Skunky” based off of Jonathan’s favorite stuffed animal. Now 14-years-old, Jonathan has discovered his passion and possible career route through his love of Munzee.

Jonathan has a huge desire to “Grow Greer,” his local community, in Munzee. This passion led him to researching websites about the city, cementing his lasting love for Greer. This resulted in the mayor of Greer presenting him with a key to the city. Jonathan has built a small media empire centered around positive things about and happenings in Greer via Facebook, Instagram, and  www.GreerTidbits.com. He even gives tours!

Jonathan Lovegrove, a young Munzee enthusiast. Lovegrove focuses on building the game in his hometown of Greer, South Carolina and spreading positivity.

Rules and Regulations

Do you know a garden deserving of the title of March GOTM? We’re asking for players to submit already created gardens for the chance to win any of our upcoming Garden(s) of the Month! Just be sure to follow the rules!

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

E-mail us at iloveyou@munzee.com to nominate yourself or another qualified player for GOTM! If you don’t see your name on the February winner’s list, fear not! We take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months.

Do you need help deploying in a Virtual Garden? Check out this step-by-step tutorial to help build a Garden today. Remember, Munzee is a social game, and there are many Virtual Garden builders who are happy to design Gardens for fellow players. Be sure to connect with us on Facebook in order to reach out to fellow players!

Don’t forget to stock up on Virtuals and Color Credits in the Freeze Tag store so you can fill in those Gardens! Our Virtual collection now includes Temporary Virtuals, Virtual Trail Munzee Credits (multiple), and the Virtual Trail Munzee Credit (single). All three of these items will be 19 percent off through Monday, February 25 at 10:00 MHQ time!

Congrats to all of our winning players this month! Thank you for sharing your stories, and thanks to everyone who nominated themselves or a fellow player and all who deployed. Stay tuned to see more winning Gardens!

These virtuals WILL be attracted to magnets, so don’t forget to stop by the Freeze Tag Online Store and pick some up some Virtual Munzee Magnets if you haven’t already! • CapOn (Host): 100 Points

Players will earn a new badge containing a unique dish of food for every flag pin they capture. Once the France Global Grub is capped, you will earn the following badge:

We’ll also be putting out an overall capture line in the future, so stay tuned!

Bon appétit, and Munzee on!
