Munzee Mistakes: Introduction to ZeeOps and Clan Wars

After sharing a variety of tips that covered many aspects of gameplay, such as deploying and capping munzees, this week we’re exploring two areas of everyone’s favorite real world scavenger hunt that new players may be entirely unfamiliar with. We’re talking about ZeeOps and Clan Wars, which offer the chance for competitive gameplay with both yourself and others, respectively. Read on to discover more about Munzee competitive play and hear what tips and tricks fellow players have to share to help you enjoy all that Munzee has to offer!

Are you interested in competitive gameplay with yourself? ZeeOps might be the answer for you! Feel like a secret agent by taking on monthly Missions that range in difficulty levels and require a variety of Munzee skills to conquer. Complete your Missions within the required amount of time to unlock treasures! Every month new Operations will be released, including confidential information related to each month’s Mission. In order to start ZeeOps, you’ll need to earn some ZeeCred, which you can pick up in the Freeze Tag Online Store. You will be able to earn more credits through completing operations.

Is competitive gameplay with others more your speed? Join a clan and compete in monthly Clan Wars with members of your team! Clans are formed with ten players, with the opportunity to use the Clan Randomizer button to find a spot in a clan from 00:01 MHQ time on the first of each month through 23:59 MHQ time on the second of each month if you need help joining. Clan Wars criteria will be released at the end of each month for the upcoming month, with all Clan Battles starting on the third and lasting for the duration of the month. The monthly requirements will vary, but they largely include both individual and group components needed to be achieved in order to move up between the five levels. That means a clan is often only as strong as its weakest link, though many clans only aspire to reach a certain level each month.

Below are 32 tips offered by fellow players. Munzee may provide some fierce competition, but that doesn’t mean that plenty of players aren’t here to help every step of the way!

Clan Wars & ZeeOps Tips and Tricks

Tip #1: Take advantage of both Clan Wars and ZeeOps to earn credits and specials. Then place the munzees you earn near your home or work to increase your odds of attracting Bouncers. (KLC)

Tip #2: If you are a newbie to Munzee, don’t cap everything that is around you when you first start playing. You will need some convenient caps to meet the requirements for Clan Wars and for ZeeOps. (Bossmanlee)

Tip #3: Start “Clan Warring” and “ZeeOpsing” as soon as possible. It’s easier to fill requirements before you’ve capped everything in your city. Plus you’ll get credits to make your area more appealing to other players. (Aukush)

Tip #4: For ZeeOps, start with the Cadet level. It is fun and easy and a great way to introduce you to Ops and how it works. Plus you get enough ZeeCreds from completing the operation to try a Basic Level! (5Star)

Tip #5: If you’re doing a level 2+ ZeeOp and one of the available missions of the month is to have 500 or 1,000 cap-on points, schedule that on a Saturday or Sunday. That’s when most people are capping munzees (either at events or on their own). (pikespice)

Tip #6: Set a reminder for ZeeOps so you don’t forget. (qdog)

Tip #7: I love ZeeOps, because you can do some little personal challenges each day and get credits for them! I add the daily requirements to my reminders on my calendar so I don’t forget. (jellybean88)

Tip#8: Always wear sunglasses while doing ZeeOps… this makes you feel like a secret agent. ? (Jerzee)

Tip #9: Cluster your deploys — have pockets of jewels, zodiacs, elementals, etc. This will help attract players doing ZeeOps! (Leese Philip)

Tip #10: If you wonder how to try a longer operation or use the Mission Mulligan in the very beginning, you can win ZeeCreds on Prize Wheels, and you get some each month as a gift for being Premium Member. (xwusel)

Tip #11: If you are able, attend events to meet some friendly faces and have a chance to learn more about the game. Bonus tip: participate in some basic ZeeOps to earn a fun variety of new munzees to deploy. (beckiweber)

Tip #12: Remember that there is the Mulligan whereby you are allowed to fix one day’s failed operation at the cost of 25 Zeecred. But this doesn’t apply for the last day of the mission! (stebu)

Tip #13: You can win ZeeCreds by capping Prize Wheel Munzees. (BrianMoos)

Tip #14: Remember that Clan Wars don’t start until the 3rd day of the month. If you are doing a ZeeOp and are in a clan, you can consider not starting your ZeeOp before the 3rd. There is no reason for all the ZeeOps hard work to go to waste and not do double duty and count for the clan as well. (3Blanchards)

Tip #15: Consider joining a clan. It makes you part of a team with a common goal, and it teaches discipline when capping so you don’t just go around capping everything. (fsafranek)

Tip #16: Try to join a clan! Clan members are a mine of information and encouragement. Joining a clan also helps you realize that many other quite normal people enjoy scanning lampposts! (Thegenie18)

Tip #17: Join a low level clan to start. (TheFoods)

Tip #18: Join a clan and have a clan group chat page! It really helps all clan members with things like deploying virtuals near clan mates. It is great to have help with all things Munzee and have a general Munzee chat with fellow players. (lolbot)

Tip #19: Join the Munzee team sport that is Clan Wars. Once you understand the requirements, don’t cap everything in a 10 mile radius in your first week! (Section42)

Tip #20: In Clan Wars, if CapOn points are counted that month, consider focusing on capping the munzee’s deployed by your teammates to help their points increase as well. This will help the overall points of the clan. If you live in an area with few munzees, encourage your team to build the map locally so all will have points to obtain. This will also attract new and traveling players. (FindersGirl)

Tip #21: Not all clans aspire to reach Level 5, but different clans have different goals. Be ready to do 1/10 of the requirements before committing to a certain level in a clan, unless you agreed otherwise. (halizwein)

Tip #22: Choose a level in Clan Wars that you are comfortable playing to keep it fun. (YMHgra)

Tip #23: For Clan Wars, pick what level you can complete 10% of clan goals and what level you can complete just the personal requirements, and let potential clans know both levels you feel comfortable with. Some clans may not care if you can do 10%; others may require it. (technical13)

Tip #24: You can find a clan suitable for your level in the Facebook group “Munzee Clan Transfer Market.” (Justinas Rumcikas)

Tip #25: At the end of the day, remember that you are playing a game. Yes, people can get competitive, and it’s fun to win, but it’s more important to enjoy yourself and celebrate small victories when you’re engaging in Clan Wars or ZeeOps! (violetblonde)

Tip #26: Get above your individual requirements to help your clan mates if you can! Remember you are playing with a team. (Faby)

Tip #27: If you run a clan, create a Facebook page for easy communication. If you join a clan with a Facebook page, make sure you join the page as well to keep up with clan requirements. (Orky99)

Tip #28: Be social on Facebook and with your clan mates. Your fellow players will be glad to help you meet your goals. (Kermit450)

Tip #29: Communication is key. Talk to your clan mates! (Sportytaxi)

Tip #30: Once you have chosen your Clan Wars Level, communication is the key! A number of clans have set up a private Facebook group to facilitate good clan communication. (EagleDadandXenia)

Tip #31: For Clan Wars, having clan mates in different areas can help with clan POB, TOB, and MOB requirements. (Belboz)

Tip #32: Play the game the way you like it. Whether you do Clan Wars or ZeeOps, deploy only physicals or only virtuals, that is up to you. Start the game the way you like it most, and if you still enjoy it after a month or so, branch out deeper into the game. It can be overwhelming if you try to learn it all at once. (Reart)

Introducing the Latest Pouch Creature…

UPDATE: Pimedus and the Pouch Creature Collection are now LIVE! You can also pick up Bouncer Upgrades and a Pimedus Personal Tag!

Remember Hadavale, the friendly white ghost TOB who offered a sizable BOOST in points? Well, there is another ghost in town, and this POB goes by the name Pimedus! Pimedus might not appear as friendly at first glance, but the latest Pouch Creature will be going on sale today at 15:00 MHQ time for 24-hours in the Freeze Tag Online Store!

That’s right, an entire day in the store means you won’t have to set your timers for odd hours in order to guarantee a Pimedus purchase! You can pick up your Pimedus Pouch Creature (link not active until 15:00 MHQ) for $15. Pimedus will be joining the ranks of Mitmegu, Tuli, Vesi, Muru, and Hadavale as the latest Munzee Pouch Creature. Pouch Creatures are based on items from our sister app, WallaBee, and represent a new era of munzees to enjoy!

Pimedus

Not to be outshone by her white ghost mate, the black ghost will have her own set of unique special features. Pimedus will operate similar to a Prize Wheel, randomly offering different prizes for cappers! You can earn points, Zeds, maybe even the ALL NEW Physical Capture Booster Credit! That means you never know what prize you’ll be getting! Don’t let Pimedus fool you— she is far more generous than she might appear! HOWEVER, there is a very small chance that Pimedus might be feeling greedy, in which case she could steal some of your points. The chance of this is very slim, but if she does steal points she will give you a larger than usual amount of PinPoints! It looks like you’ll have to capture her at your own caution!

Points

  • Deploy: 250 points
  • Capture: Will vary from 10 possibilities including the following options:
    • 200 points
    • 80 points and one 2x Physical Capture Booster Credit
    • LOSE 100 points BUT EARN 50 Zeds
    • Additional rewards that could rotate monthly (usually about 10 total)

While the capper of Pimedus will receive one of the listed prize options, each Pimedus owner will ALSO have the chance to earn a random prize for each CapOn! As always, the black ghost will be feeling temperamental, so you never know what you’ll receive! (Cut her some slack, she’s going through a moody phase!) The prize options at launch for CapOn will appear as follows:

  • 100 points
  • LOSE 100 points BUT EARN 50 Zeds
  • 100 points and 1 PinPoint
  • 10 points and 10 PinPoints
  • 50 points and 5 PinPoints
  • Additional rewards that could rotate monthly (usually 5-10 total)

Are you excited for a little game of risk vs. reward? You can find Pimedus hanging out on the following landing pads:

However, you can also unlock the following landing pads with a Bouncer Upgrade Credit for an additional $5, from the Freeze Tag Online Store. These additional landing pads include:

When the Bouncer Upgrade credit is used, your Pimedus will also have the ability to be “nudged” to a new munzee. You can use the nudge feature up to three times a day (MHQ 24-hour day), but only after your munzee has sat for at least 3 hours. Additionally, the Bouncer Upgrade will also allow you to rename your Pimedus! The name will still retain the unique number, but feel free to get creative and customize your Pouch Creature’s moniker. Please keep in mind our player code of conduct, and be mindful of maintaining a family friendly environment!

Pimedus will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Pimedus on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Pimedus visits you. However, Pimedus will be non-blastable. This Pouch Creature will be attracted exclusively to Physical Magnets on Greenies. (That means Virtual Magnets aren’t going to help you in this situation!) You can access Pimedus under the “Only Expiring Specials” and “Only Pouch Creatures” filters.

2x Physical Capture Booster Credit

As stated above, Pimedus will also give you the opportunity to earn 2x Physical Capture Booster Credits. Much like when you capture a Hadavale and earn a Physical Deploy Booster, if you earn a Physical Capture Booster from a Pimedus you’ll be able to use it at your own convenience from your inventory tab in app. Although Hadavale awards a Booster every time it’s capped, since there will be many more Pimedus floating around there’s a slimmer chance at earning a Physical Capture Booster. A new over-the-air update has been pushed, so now you’ll be also able to use multiple Booster types at the same time! Just activate both boosters and get to capping and deploying! Or stick with one at a time if you like, it’s all up to you when you activate a booster!

Badges

All players who deploy a Pimedus will receive the following deploy badge:

Additionally, there will be three more badges to unlock based on number of Pimedus captures. The first in the series will appear as follows:

Bronze Pimedus Scout– Capture 1 Pimedus Pouch Creature Munzee

Pimedus will be available for sale exclusively from the Freeze Tag Online Store for 24-hours only starting at 15:00 MHQ time today. Hopefully this isn’t the time you chose to take a digital retreat, because this Pouch Creature offers plenty of fun!

Quick PinPoints Update!

Calling all Clans!

If you were paying attention you may have seen a test screen teased this afternoon, but remember patience is a virtue!

We know you’re all excited to learn more about PinPoints and what they mean for Clan Wars requirements in May. It also applies to one of your rewards (in store credit) from April Clan Wars. We’ve put together an FAQ about various aspects of this new loyalty program, which can be found on the Munzee Help Guide. We’re not revealing everything just yet, but this should hopefully give you an idea of what to expect.

Check out the PinPoints FAQ here:
https://munzee.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027745271-PinPoints-Loyalty-Program-FAQ

We had every intention of launching this program earlier in April, but unfortunately third party issues out of our control have caused some rather unexpected delays. We want to make sure this launch is a success though so we’re taking every step to make sure it’s ready for you all!

Thank you for your patience, we hope the competitive spirit of Clan Wars along with this new reward system drives another great month!

April Gardens of the Month Winners Revealed!

Update: Boogie Woogie Garden was created by destrandman. Congratulations, destrandman!

2019 is already one-third complete, and it’s time to reward two more of our outstanding Virtual Garden builders! For the last four months, we have been asking for Garden of the Month nominations in order to award players for their exceptional Virtual Garden organizing skills. Not only will all GOTM organizers win special badges, but we will also award our GOTM badges to all players who deployed in winning gardens. At times Munzee can be a team effort, and we appreciate all of the group efforts to create such fun and beautiful gardens for all to enjoy!

For our April Gardens of the Month, we’re happy to award the Butterfly Garden, organized by none other than Goofybutterfly, and Boogie Woogie, organized by destrandman. Congrats to both of these Virtual Garden builders, as well as to all who deployed in their winning gardens! You can view the winning gardens below:

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges!

Rules and Regulations

Do you know a garden deserving of the title of May GOTM? We’re asking for players to submit already created gardens for the chance to win any of our upcoming Garden(s) of the Month! Just be sure to follow the rules!

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

Send your nomination for GOTM to iloveyou@munzee.com! Bear in mind that we take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months. Just be sure your garden follows the nomination rules in order to be considered eligible!

If you need help deploying in a Virtual Garden, you can check out this step-by-step tutorial that will making deploying in a garden easy no matter how long you’ve been playing. To fill in the gardens, make sure to stock up on Virtuals and Color Credits from the Freeze Tag Online Store.

May Resolutions Badge Details

How has 2019 been treating you so far? If it hasn’t been your year to shine, fear not, because there are still eight months left for positive growth and change! Our monthly Capture Streak Badges have been centered around a year of personal improvement, bringing us the resolution to eat healthy (January), make new friends (February), explore new hobbies (March), and get organized (April). Summer is fast approaching on the Northern Hemisphere, and our May Resolutions badge is to travel more!

Each month’s badge is dedicated to accomplishing a different New Year’s Resolution. Like our Super Streak badges, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one Munzee* each day for the entire month. Each month provides the opportunity to put your best foot forward, so if you’re new to the game or accidentally missed a day, there’s no time like the present to get started on your streaks!

Traveling Tips

Many people plan to travel, but then this crazy thing happens. Life gets in the way. Traveling can be a financial burden for many, and big vacations can often take years to plan and save up. However, you only get one life to live, and that life should be filled with happy adventure! Traveling doesn’t have to mean flying around the world; it can involve simply getting into your car and driving to a town nearby that you haven’t explored. It can even involve venturing to new places in your town!

Break the routine of prosaic living and allow yourself the chance to experience more of what the world has to offer. Traveling allows for the chance to experience new walks of life, expand your perspective, and meet new people along the way. Learn how to travel the smart way with budget friendly tips. Rather than rent expensive hotels, take advantage of room renting services, such as Airbnb, to save money. This will also allow you the opportunity to select lodging with a kitchen so that you can save money on dining out! Shopping local and preparing meals will save you a lot of money while away from home.

Many plan vacations for the summer, but traveling in the off-season is almost always a guaranteed way to save money. You can also cut down on expenses by traveling with friends or family, in order to split costs, or by traveling to where you know people. Though you might be tempted to stop for mementos, gift shops and general shopping should be avoided in order to save big bucks. The memories you make should be more than enough, and the less you purchase, the more you’ll be able to travel in the future. Lastly, always try to do some online searching pre-trip to scout out the best deals in the area you’re heading to.

Still don’t think you’ll be able to squeeze a trip in? Luckily you still have Munzee, a real world scavenger hunt that is all about exploration! Remember you can always set up Trail Munzees to lead other players down paths worth exploring in your neighborhood!

Munzee on!

* In order to encourage active gameplay we will not count Social Munzees for these capture streaks. If you know you’ll be in an area without munzees, plan ahead!

Alien Day Means Invasion of New Specials!

Are you sad that the ZEEster Egg specials will be leaving the map on Sunday at 22:22 MHQ time? If only another egg would fly down and fill the void! Wait— didn’t MHQ promise that there would be MOBs on the map every day in April to help with Clan War requirements? AND isn’t today a funky sort of holiday? Ah, yes, it’s Alien Day. And MHQ isn’t going to disappoint. ??

The Alien Invasion Specials will include two bouncing specials, one that comes equipped with a scatter. They invaded the map at 9:11 MHQ time on April 26 and will remain until Sunday, May 5 at 23:59 MHQ time. Think you can spot a UFO? First it’s probably best to read up on them…

Alien Egg

To start things off, only one Alien Egg special hit the map. Only one?! Fear not, every time an Alien Egg is capped, another will be added to the map for a maximum of 426 Alien Eggs total.

The Alien Egg is a physical MOB that doesn’t want to stay in place. It will bounce around every 4 hours or when capped. You can increase your chances of capturing this bouncing special with Munzee Magnets, since the Alien Egg WILL be attracted to them.

April POTM Recognizes Top Munzee Hosts!

We asked, you answered! Our April Player(s) of the Month criteria called for players to nominate the “host with the most” for the chance to earn the POTM title. While our past POTM have seen a wide berth of players awarded for their Munzee contributions, we decided to narrow down our April POTM finalists to include players with the most votes. However, we’d like to make it clear that many hosts and cohosts were nominated, and we appreciate all players who take the time and effort to host Munzee events and bring players together. With nearly 200 nominations, it’s clear that many players feel the exact same way!

Of course we needed our Global Events Manager Louise to help weigh in on the many nominations. Congratulations to the following players who were both nominated and hand-selected by Louise to be the April Players of the Month:

Remember, anyone who earned the Player Of The Week badge previously IS able to earn the Player Of The Month badge as well! Each month we announce a different set of criteria to award some of the many players who make Munzee so great. Stay tuned for our May POTM criteria announcement! Who knows, you might just be a winner. ?

What was the best Munzee event you ever attended? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram! Thanks to all who sent us their nominations, and a big thank you to each and every one of you who have hosted or co-hosted an event. And if you’re looking for the chance to get together with a bunch of players and earn some extra points, remember Munzee’s birthday is on the horizon! And it’s not a birthday without a party! ?

Congratulations, and Munzee on!

Introducing the New Munzee StarterPak!

Are you looking to refresh your deploys and get your hands on some rare and beneficial game pieces? Are you a new player seeking to dive right into everyone’s favorite real world scavenger hunt? We have some great news, because our Munzee StarterPak has officially been updated in the Freeze Tag Online Store to offer players a whole host of munzees just waiting to be deployed!

This ALL NEW StarterPak is available NOW, and all players are able to purchase one a year. Get yours today!

The freshly updated Munzee StarterPak features a variety of different stickers, as well as a Munzee Logo Decal that you can show off to all of your friends. In addition to the decal sticker, each StarterPak will include the following munzees:

We’ve put together a video breaking down what all you get in the new StarterPak! Check it out below:

The Throwback Munzee represents the “Official Game Piece” of Munzee, offering a nicely sized sticker for your deploying pleasure. Each StarterPak will contain one (1) Throwback Munzee.

The Butterfly Evolutions are rare physical munzees that could previously only be acquired through MunzPak subscriptions. Each Butterfly Evolution Munzee is equipped with special features. This Evolution Munzee evolves to five stages, with its final stage allowing it to bounce to other munzees around the world. Each StarterPak will contain one (1) Butterfly Evolution Munzee.

The Diamond Munzee is a special type that is worth more points than a regular greenie and part of the Family Jewels line of munzees. Each StarterPak will contain one (1) Diamond Munzee.

The Prize Wheel Munzee is a popular game piece from the Gaming line of munzees. When a Prize Wheel Munzee is capped there is a chance of winning munzee credits and points for both the capper and the owner. Each StarterPak will contain one (1) Prize Wheel Munzee.

The Mystery Munzee is a classic game piece that randomizes the points both the capper and owner earn each time. Each StarterPak will contain one (1) Mystery Munzee.

Munzee Generic Codes, often referred to by players as “greenies,” are important base game pieces that can be magnetized with Munzee Magnets to draw special bouncing icons. Deploying greenies near where you live or work will help attract special munzees to you so that you won’t have to travel far for extra points. Each StarterPak will contain four (4) Generic Coded stickers.

Lastly, the StarterPak will also contain a bonus Aquamarine Munzee credit! This munzee, like the Diamond, is a member of the Family Jewels that awards more points than the greenie. To deploy this special credit, you will first have to start with a generic sticker. After scanning the sticker, you are given the option to “Make It Special!” where you can choose the Aquamarine from a list of credits.

The new logo decal and all nine of these various physical munzees (plus the bonus credit!) can be yours today! Whether you’re a new player or a veteran, you can order one StarterPak a year from the Freeze Tag Online Store for only $10. If you’re a new player, keep an eye on your email for a special discount code to get your StarterPak for FREE as part of a limited time offer! All orders received throughout the week will ship within 1-2 business days after your purchase.

Starting now you can also earn an all new badge for purchasing a StarterPak, similar to the MunzPak badges. This will not be a retroactive badge, so you’ll need to purchase the NEW StarterPak in order to earn it.

You can learn about the benefits and advantages of each type of munzee HERE. We are also updating our Help Guide to provide comprehensive breakdowns of different munzee types and aspects of gameplay, including player tips.
