October GOTM and POTM Winners!

Happy Halloween! We hope everyone has a scary good night while staying safe! Today we’re happy to announce the winners of October Garden of the Month (GOTM) and Player of the Month (POTM), as well as announce the criteria for November POTM! Ready to discover what themed gardens claimed the October title?

October GOTM

It’s time to recognize some outstanding Virtual Garden builders who helped us get in the holiday spirit! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Abstatt Tomcat (aka Munzee Tomcat), designed by Chandabelle, and the Cedar Rapids Pumpkin Garden, designed by Rodrico101, as our winning October GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

Abstatt Tomcat by Chandabelle in Abstatt Germany

Halloween has black cats on our mind, but this Munzee Tomcat offers plenty of color for spooky season. The garden is inspired by the Rälling cat, which is the town mascot of Abstatt, Germany. You can find statues of the cat all over Abstatt, but especially in Bürger Park. You can find some real world pictures of the cat below!

Cedar Rapids Pumpkin Garden by Rodrico101 in Iowa

No spooky season would be complete without a pumpkin! This jack-o-lantern face holds all the menace of spooky fun, so we couldn’t resist awarding it as October GOTM! Plus, this garden is extra special, because player Rodrico101 also created a Frankenstein Garden right next to his pumpkin! Though only the pumpkin won GOTM, you can check both gardens out below:

And speaking of honorable mentions, there is one more garden we would like to recognize! Like the Frankenstein Garden, it wasn’t 100% filled at the time of nomination, and therefore is not legible for GOTM, but we loved the Jack-O’-Lantern Garden too much not to give it some attention! You can assist father and son garden designing team SEvans and LiamCEvans by clicking the link to the spreadsheet to help them finish deploying in their spooktacular garden! The design appears as follows:

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

Send your nomination for GOTM to iloveyou@munzee.com! Keep in mind that we take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months. Just be sure your garden follows the nomination rules in order to be considered eligible!

If you need help deploying in a Virtual Garden, you can check out this step-by-step tutorial that will making deploying in a garden easy no matter how long you’ve been playing. To fill in the gardens, make sure to stock up on Virtuals and Color Credits from the Freeze Tag Online Store.

October POTM

October POTM called for player nominations, as we asked for you to email us your nominations for hosts who go the extra mile for the good of the game. The following QRazy Contributors have been recognized by their fellow players for helping to create external tools that facilitate gameplay! The winners are:

  • RUJA
  • sohcah
  • Hinklenator
  • Georiffles
  • Laczy76
  • SpaceCoastGeoStore
  • MunzeeMadness

November POTM Requirements

As October wraps up, it’s on to November, which means there will be more POTM winners coming up. This month we’re happy to announce that there will be a special November POTM badge that any player can earn regardless of previous nominations or wins. The badge will appear as follows:

How can you win this badge? Everyone who is a Munzee Premium Member by the end of November will be awarded this custom badge, as well as some freebie items! Want to know what they are? Well, you’ll just have to win the badge! To learn more about the Munzee Premium Membership, check out our Help Guide.

November Resolutions Focus on Giving Back

We’re one day away from Halloween, which means we’re only two days away from the start of November! The holiday season is rapidly arriving, but while we anticipate festivities, gifts, and gatherings, our November Resolution is centered around giving back through volunteer work.

Time helping others is time well spent

Since January, we’ve been releasing monthly Capture Streak badges centered around a year of personal improvement. Each month’s unique badge is dedicated to accomplishing another New Year’s Resolution in our quest for a year of positive growth and change. Like our Super Streak badges, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one Munzee* each day for the entire month. Now let’s explore the meaning of this month’s badge in the quest to help others in need.

Values of Volunteer Work

The excellent news is volunteer work is a two-way street. Not only does volunteer work enhance the lives of the recipients, but it has profoundly positive effects on the volunteer as well. Volunteer work brings about personal growth, allowing people to expand their horizons, sharpen their skill sets, and have the opportunity to develop new strengths. While volunteer work can certainly make you feel better about yourself, it can also add to your resume and assist you with your career goals.

Volunteer work is important to personal growth, because it provides the opportunity to connect with people. The experience of volunteering is very rewarding, allowing the volunteer to make a positive change in the lives of others. The act of service is often propelled by directly witnessing how your good deeds affect the lives of those you assist. Overall, regular volunteer work is believed to increase self-esteem, widen your perspective, and expand your network in an environment that can often be fun.

When searching for the right place to volunteer, there are a number of factors you can keep in mind. While there are plenty of places that need extra hands, you can narrow down your options based on your skill set. Consider your true purpose in life and know what you have to offer in order to select a volunteer place that can best utilize your strengths. Choose what kind of a difference you wish to make in the world, and invest your valuable time in working for a cause that supports your goal. Along the way, you’ll be able to discover many wonderful things about yourself as you give back to those around you!

Munzee on!

* In order to encourage active gameplay we will not count Social Munzees for these capture streaks. If you know you’ll be in an area without munzees, plan ahead!

Puffle Joins Munzee As the Latest Pouch Creature!

Have you checked the weather forecast for the day? It’s pretty remarkable, because even though Munzee is played all around the world, the weather happens to be exactly the same for everyone… cloudy with a chance of Puffle! Please welcome our latest Pouch Creature to the game, as Puffle prepares to join the ranks of Mitmegu, Vesi, Hadavale, and more!

Pouch Creatures are bouncing munzees based on items from our sister app, WallaBee. Puffle is the first virtual-only Pouch Creature and much like the Pegasus Mythological Munzee it bounces to Virtual Munzees of all colors as well as Air Mystery Munzees. Our newest Pouch Creature will cost $20 from the Freeze Tag Online Store. It will go live for sale tomorrow (October 30th) at 10:00 MHQ time! Puffle will be for sale for 48-hours only, along with a number of our previous Pouch Creatures! Once the sale goes live tomorrow you can shop Puffle HERE and the Pouch Creature collection HERE, but be sure to purchase before the sale expires!

Like Tuli, Vesi, and Muru, Puffle is an evolving Pouch Creature that will change icons depending on the number of captures in a daily streak. After a specified number of total captures, the Pouch Creatures will “level up” when daily streaks are attained. As part of the Puffle’s launch, we have adjusted the streak requirements for all evolving Pouch Creatures. Starting at 10:00 MHQ time on 10/30 all Pouch Creatures that level up, including Puffle, will now evolve faster. In order to reach Level 2, you will still need a 25 cap initial requirement.

The new timeframe is as follows:

  • Level 1: 0 or 1 day of Capture (Day 2 new level)
  • Level 2: 2 days of Capture in a row (Day 3 new level)
  • Level 3: 3 or more days of Capture in a row

When the streak is broken, the Pouch Creature will revert to Level 1.

Puffle Details

Puffle joins the current line of Pouch Creatures as a virtual munzee that will bounce to Virtuals and Air Mystery Munzees every 6 hours or when capped. Deploying a Puffle will earn you 250 points. The Capture and CapOn points will vary per level as follows:

  • Puffle (Level 1)
    • Capture: 200 points
    • CapOn: 100 Points
    • CapOn (Host Owner): 50 points
  • Pufrain (Level 2)
    • Capture: 300 points
    • CapOn: 200 Points
    • CapOn (Host Owner): 50 points
  • Puflawn (Level 3)
    • Capture: 500 points
    • CapOn: 300 points
    • CapOn (Host Owner): 50 points

When the Bouncer Upgrade credit is used, your Puffle will also have the ability to be “nudged” to a new munzee. You can use the nudge feature up to three times a day (MHQ 24-hour day), but only after your munzee has sat for at least 3 hours. Additionally, the Bouncer Upgrade will also allow you to rename your Puffle! The name will still retain the unique number, but feel free to get creative and customize your Pouch Creature’s moniker. Please keep in mind our player code of conduct, and be mindful of maintaining a family friendly environment!

Puffle will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Puffle on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Puffle visits you. Puffle will be non-blastable. The capture radius is 500 ft (152.4 m). It will be attracted to Virtual Magnets ONLY as Puffle (Level 1). You can access Puffle under the “Only Expiring Specials” and “Only Pouch Creatures” filters.

New Badges!

There will be a number of badges to enjoy along with Puffle, including the following Deploy badge:

Puffle Pouch Creature Munzee– Deploy Puffle Pouch Creature Munzee.

Additionally there will be three badges to earn for Puffle, Pufrain, and Puflawn for a total of 9 additional Capture badges. The first badge per each level will appear as follows:

Think you can handle some more badges?! Lastly, there will also be a new line of badges for overall captures of ALL Pouch Creatures! This new line of Capture badges will be retroactive, so any past Pouch Creature captures will count towards earning these badges. You will be able to see the next badge to earn once the previous one has been earned. These badges will go live when Puffle goes on sale at 10:00 MHQ on 10/30.

The badges will include captures for:

  • Tuli, Tulimber, Tulinferno
  • Muru, Muruchi, Murutain
  • Vesi, Vesial, Vesisaur
  • Hadavale
  • Mitmegu, Jootmegu, Lokemegu, Rohimegu
  • Pimedus
  • Puffle, Pufrain, Puflawn
  • Any Gleaming Pouch Creatures

These won’t be easy to get, so get ready for some critter capping! The first badge in this new Capture line will appear as follows :

Combustable Creatures – Capture 1,111 Pouch Creature Munzees of any type.

If you want to brush up on any Pouch Creature knowledge, be sure to check out our Help Guide! You might have previously preferred sunny skies, but hopefully you have some cloudy days to look forward to with the addition of Puffle!

Munzee Toolkit Munzday: Sdgal

One of the best parts about Munzee is that you can play how you want. Everyone goes about playing a bit differently, and that leads to some very creative and innovative uses of objects. From containers to bags to maintenance, we always encounter something new when we meet players. We want to showcase your Munzee Toolkits to see how you play the game and possibly even inspire other players who may need help! This week’s featured Munzee Toolkit comes from Sdgal!

This week’s featured Munzee Toolkit comes from a Munzee vet. Player sdgal has been munzeeing for nearing 7 years, with her Munzee strategies helping her earn over 5.8 million points for a top 500 world ranking. Let’s see what sdgal carries in her Munzee Toolkit to help her achieve such impressive numbers!

The larger one (left) is for when I plan to deploy. I carry the smaller one (right) just in case Qrewzee replacement is necessary

Sdgal Toolkit

My user name is sdgal. My husband is SDWD. We do approximately 90% of the deploys in our town, Yankton, SD. There is one other active player in town, but she never deploys.

The current #9 and #29 players in the world are friends from our caching days. They have generously  deployed in our town, as well as a couple of other friends.

My husband and I are both in our 70’s, so we enjoy getting out of the house and get a little exercise chasing specials. We winter in Yuma and have really grown that area. Now there are a couple more active players down there, so more fun with more players!

Share Your Kit!

If you have a Munzee Toolkit that you’d like to show off, you can email us at iloveyou@munzee.com with the subject “Munzee Toolkit.” Make sure to include:

  • Your username and where you are from.
  • A few high quality photos.
  • A list of what each item is and how you use it.
  • What made you decide to use those items.
  • Any other relevant details.

Please feel free to include as much information about your gameplay as you wish to share! We want to see your creativity and learn how you play, so show us what you’ve got! And for Munzee tips and tricks, you can always check out our Help Guide articles!

A big Munzee thank you to sdgal for sharing her Munzee Toolkit!

Introducing the Treehouse and Magnet Burnout!

There are about to be a lot of happy Player Owned Bouncer owners, because our latest map addition is targeted to increase the number of caps on POBs while decreasing the clutter on the map. More points and less mess— what is this awesome new munzee called?! Please welcome the Treehouse Munzee to the map!

Treehouse Munzee

The Treehouse Munzee is a physical Destination Munzee that allows up to 6 POBs to land on it. This all new munzee fits into the Destination line of munzee types, but it also contains the ability to be captured once per player per 24 hour MHQ day just like Places Munzees! That’s right, the Treehouse Munzee means plenty of capping opportunities.

Does this extra special munzee sound familiar at all to some of you? Players who purchased the MHQ Bash King’s Court package have been awarded a Treehouse Munzee credit, which was included in the package as a new in-game item. The rest of you will have to wait a short time to pick up your Treehouse Munzees! They will be made available for purchase to the public sometime in the next week, but you can read about them now! Players will also be able to cap Treehouses deployed by King’s Court purchasers in the meantime, so there is still fun to be had!

Points:

  • Deploy: 100 points
  • Cap: 10 points + points for whatever POBs are in the Treehouse at the time of capture.
  • CapOn: 25 points

The deploy circle for Treehouses will be 1,000 feet (304.8 m) from the nearest Treehouse, all other normal 50/150 feet proximity rules apply. To access the Treehouse Munzee, turn on your Physical filter and find it under “Destinations”. It’s also included in the Premium filters under “All Mythologicals” and “All Expiring Specials”.

Please note the following special information about the Treehouse Munzee:

  • The Treehouse Icon will change to show the number of POBs hanging out. Players will see the base icon for 0, but then a 1-6 as more bouncers stop by.
  • This munzee can be capped once daily regardless of the number of POBs hanging out. New POB landings do NOT refresh the capture setting.
  • A Treehouse will attract up to 6 POBs over time, but you can use a physical Munzee Magnet to draw a total of 6 POBs much quicker.
  • Only physical Myths and Variants will land on a Treehouse (No MOBs, TOBs, Pouch Creatures, Fancy Flats, or virtual Myths).
  • The Regular POB timer is still in effect. If a POB times out, it leaves the Treehouse and leaves an open spot for others to join.

Why use a Treehouse? This extra special munzee has the following awesome advantages:

  • Quick and high points
  • Easy access to multiple POB caps at once
  • The ability to share the love with other POB owners
  • Achieve POB clan requirements quicker

The Treehouse Munzee does not have a badge line at this time, but it will count toward the overall Destination capture line the first time you cap it. That means daily caps will not count toward badges, only the first time you cap it.

For more information about the Treehouse Munzee, how to deploy it, and exactly what types will land on it, check out our Help Guide article!

Magnet Burnout

In addition to the Treehouse Munzee, we’re excited to announce that we have removed the purchase limit on both physical and virtual Munzee Magnets! Now players can buy as many Munzee Magnets and Virtual Magnets as they like from the Freeze Tag Online Store.

However, with the new update Greenies and Virtuals will only be able to be magnetized 3 times a day. After that, the munzee will be “burned out” and unable to be magnetized until the next MHQ day. This “burn out” is 3x per player, per MHQ day. In addition, we’ve made a small improvement to save space, so now when you magnetize a munzee, the magnet button will disappear until the magnet expires. That way there is more room to display the bouncer information!

The Magnet Burnout was created to encourage players to keep moving and not just magnetize the same munzee over and over again. There will be a timer on the burned out munzee to show how long you have to wait until it can be magnetized again!

Are you ready to have some fun with this awesome new game addition? Don’t forget to pick up the awesome new Treehouse munzee when it releases! For now watch the map and see if one gets deployed somewhere near you! You can also stock up on some Magnets and catch those bouncers!

Munzee on!

*Please note that when Treehouses go on sale to the public players will be limited to one purchase every 14 days.

Rob celebrates the Treehouse Munzee launch from the Mall of America in Minnesota, where he is attending player events.

Introducing Clan Wars Leaderboard Placement Badges!

While you’ll have to wait a few more days until the November Clan Wars requirements are out, we do have some exciting information to tide you over in the meantime. This month we introduced the Level badges for Clan Wars, and now we’re happy to announce that there are leaderboard placement badges as well!

Each month this brand new line of badges will be awarded for Clan Wars leaderboard placement. These badges will be awarded once per month after the battle for the month has finished. Everyone in a qualifying clan at the end of the battle will be awarded the badge. Therefore the badges go to whoever earns that leaderboard place at the end of each month.

There are already badges for the top 3 clans, so we’re shaking things up with these new Leaderboard badges. Clans who place 12th, 42nd, 75th, 123rd, and 200th at the end of each month will be awarded these special badges. The badges will appear as follows:

You may notice there are badges for 123rd and 200th place, but the Clan Wars leaderboard only shows the top 100. That’s part of the fun! You can see your clan’s current ranking in the app, no matter what number you are, at the top of the leaderboard screen. All of these badges should prove very difficult to earn, so with a little luck and planning maybe you can snag one of the special spots!

For a refresher on all things Clan Wars, check out our Clan Wars update blog. You can also find comprehensive information about all aspects of Clan Wars on the Help Guide. Stay tuned for the November Clan Wars requirements!

Feast on a Classic with Portugal Global Grub!

The year is slowly starting to wind down, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to feast! With two and a half months left for our Global Grub releases, we’re thrilled to announce the addition of Portugal Global Grub specials to the map starting today at 15:00 MHQ time!

A total of 10 Portugal Global Grub specials will be deployed. They will join other virtual Global Grub specials such as USA, Ukraine, FranceAustralia, and more! They will bounce to regular virtuals and colored virtuals every 12 hours or when captured.

Points

  • Cap: 200
  • CapOn (Host): 100

Every time a Global Grub special is captured, you will earn a badge featuring a dish of food that is unique to the flag pin country. Capturing the Portugal Global Grub will earn you the following special badge:

We bet you’ve never had a sandwich quite like a francesinha! This Portuguese sandwich is composed of bread, well-cured ham, fresh sausage, linguiça, roast meats, and steak. Then it’s doused in melted cheese and a thick, hot beer and tomato sauce. Essentially it’s the meat lovers dream, and not intended for those who are watching their figures. But, hey, life’s short! Try a francesinha!

The Global Grub specials will bounce around the globe for the remainder of the year before leaving the map on 12/31/2019 at 23:59 MHQ time. You will have until then to try your luck capturing these very rare specials. Don’t forget that our overall Global Grub capture line allows you more opportunities than ever to earn Global Grub badges!

Stay tuned for more Global Grub releases in the future!
