MHQ Has No Shortage of Toilet Paper!

Last month, Flat Matt’s luck was put to the test and he seemed to come out unscathed, thanks to all of the unlucky 13’s you captured! But why is Flat Matt always getting the attention? This month, we think it’s time to show Flat Lou some love! Starting at 11:11 MHQ on March 31st, Lou Roll specials will begin bouncing around the map until 23:11 MHQ on April 13th.

Lou Roll Details

Before you think we’re unfairly poking fun at Louise, just know this was her idea! Flat Lou has been sponsored by a toilet paper company for her upcoming race. It may not be the most extravagant of sponsors, but she does get all the two-ply she wants!

401 of these specials will bounce to all Flat Lous and Virtual Colors every 4 hours or when captured. Each roll will be worth 140 points for Capture and 41 points for CapOn, so you don’t want to miss out!

These plush MOBs will be attracted to Virtual Magnets on Virtual Colors! However, they will not be blastable. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

Badges

Additionally, there will be four badges to earn based on the number of Lou Roll specials you capture. But just how many captures it takes to earn all 4 badges will be kept a secret! However, we will reveal the first badge in the line, which appears as follows:

ZeeOps- Operation: Lockdown (April 2020)

A few weeks ago, we announced that there would be no ZeeOps for the month of March. Like the rest of the world, ZeeOps HQ was caught off-guard by the spread of COVID-19. Agents were ordered to limit their time outdoors and prepare for remote assignments. But things never go as smoothly as we hope. Just as our March missions were ready to be released, a nasty new virus was detected in our computing systems, originating from a simple “Hello World” text file stored on an agent’s computer.

Luckily, Director Zee has successfully recovered thanks to all of your hard work in February and having the month of March off! Though he is a bit shaken from his recent experiences, he is ready to face this new threat and hopes he can rely on your support. While the order to limit your time outdoors is still in place, the staff at ZeeOps HQ have identified some core operations that you’ll be able to complete remotely to help identify the structure of this virtual virus and protect the currently uninfected files. Will you accept these missions?

April 2020 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You will only have until April 30th at 23:59 MHQ to complete this month’s Operations. All four Operation types available for this month- the Basic Op (3 days), the Advanced Op (7 days), the Mega Op (10 days), and the Ultra Op (14 days)! We hope this gives you something to do while you’re staying safe at home!

You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Remember that if you hit a snag at any point in your Operation you can use the Mission Mulligan feature to keep going! This month features a variety of munzee types so be sure to stock up in the Freeze Tag Online Store.

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the “Operation: Lockdown” badge.

 

This month’s Missions are as follows:

Level 1

  • Defensive Training – Deploy at least 10 munzees.
  • Evolutionary Studies I – Deploy at least 5 physical or virtual Evolution Munzees.
  • Back To Barbarianism II – Deploy at least 10 Clan Weapons of any kind.
  • Virtually Vertical – Capture at least 5 of any virtual type munzee AND capture at least 1 of ANY type of POB.
  • Barbaric Bouncing – Deploy at least 5 clan weapons of any type AND capture at least 1 of ANY type of POB.

Level 2

  • Field Test Studies – Capture at least 25 physical or virtual Evolution Munzees.
  • Developmental Deploys – Deploy at least 10 Evolution Munzees.
  • A Study In Swords – Capture at least 40 Clan Weapons of any kind.
  • Mutated Memos – Deploy at least 10 Evolution Munzees of any type.
  • R.U.M. Relay – Deploy at least 5 of any type of RUMs, at least 5 of any type of clan weapon munzees AND at least 5 of any type of Evolution munzees.

Level 3

  • Advanced Training – Earn at least 10,000 points.
  • Virtual Virus II – Capture at least 250 virtual munzees of any type.
  • Decoy Deploys – Deploy at least 15 Evolution Munzees of any type.
  • Clan Chemist – Deploy at least 15 Evolution munzees AND at least 20 of any type of Clan Weapon.
  • Viral Virtuals – Earn at least 2000 points from all types of Virtual points.

Level 4

  • Expert Training – Earn at least 50,000 points.
  • Jumbling Jewels – Deploy at least 20 jewels.
  • Renter’s Insurance – Rent a room in at least 20 Motels/Hotels/Virtual Resorts/Timeshares/Condos.
  • Armory Amendments – Deploy at least 60 Clan Weapons of any kind.
  • Helix Hierarchy – Deploy at least 15 and capture at least 10 Evolution Munzees of any type.

Completing Operations will give you some hard earned rewards as well.

April Flat Friends and QRewzdays Schedules!

The future is uncertain, but the schedules we have planned for April are a sure thing! These schedules are easy to remember! We hope you’ll enjoy capping these virtual and physical munzees while practicing careful Social DistanZEEing this month! Remember to follow your local guidelines and Stay Home if required.

April Flat Schedule

As we mentioned in March’s schedule, the Flat Friends want to visit as many Fall into Spring events as possible! So instead of being on the map through April 19th, they will now be on the map the entire month! We know many events are delayed further into the future so we’ll continue to monitor each month! We are living in odd times so we thought it might be nice to have QRewzees on the map a bit more often, but not EVERY day. So we’ve chosen the odd numbered days in the month of April.

The April QRewsdays begin at 00:01 MHQ time through 23:59 MHQ time on the same day and are as follows:  April 1, 2 (always have this non-clan day) 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23,25, 27, 29

Remember that QRew and ZeeQRew status can be earned or revoked at 00:01 MHQ time on the 1st and 15th, so plan accordingly if you want to achieve or retain either title!

April 2020 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost April! You’ll find all the details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app. This month WILL be different. It is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to April 3 and reserve the right to do so. The final requirements and rewards will be in the app, and will be updated here if anything changes before the 3rd. All of this is up in the air based on how situations continue to change worldwide based on COVID-19. UPDATED BELOW IN RED ON APRIL 1 at 12pm based on player feedback via our contact link and additional updates to the game and worldwide restrictions.

These requirements are written with lower goals, and therefore lower rewards, at all levels. Much of the lower levels this month can be completed from the comfort of your home, which may be required in your local area. Some clans may have to choose for the first time not to go for levels they have achieved in the past. Some players may have to choose to play in new clans, or not at all for upcoming months. We understand the world is in a state of not knowing what the next days, weeks, or months will look like. We will continue to provide opportunities for ALL players to play Munzee their way, while also following our code of conduct.

If Clan Wars won’t work for you this month we hope you will join us for ZeeOps which will be announced on the 31st and begin April 1. We also have a GLOBAL EVENT taking place from April 2-30 with daily deploys for you to find and capture from home. Eventzee will also host a Stay Home able photo scavenger hunt!

Level 1

Individual

  • at least 5 days of activity
  • at least 1000 total points

April Badges

Your Clan can earn monthly badges to earn for reaching distinct levels of Clan Wars each month. You won’t be able to earn a badge until the entire clan has reached the specified level. Since there is NO Level X this month, there will be a total of 5 badges available in April. The first badge will appear as follows:

Novice Newbies: April 2020- Reached Level 1 in April 2020 Clan Wars

Overall Clan Notes:

Please keep in mind Levels 4 & 5 are considered advanced gameplay and not recommended for brand new players. Be aware when allowing new players to join your clans.

Bouncer captures include any POB, MOB, or TOB (even the temporary POB)

Physical points include all Cap, Deploy, and CapOn for ALL Physical types.
Deploy points are for all types excluding Personals.

Total points include Cap, Deploy, and CapOn of all types.

Social and Personal will not count for Deploy requirements.
Social will not count for total Capture requirements.
Personal will not count for Physical points of any sort. It is not a true physical munzee.

Hints for how to play during Stay Home orders:
Use the swap feature for brand new virtual deploys.
Using the app to Renovate a motel will also give you a Renovation capture which is not given for an online renovation and does count as part of daily capture activity.
Use the online map to deploy virtuals worldwide or find gardens to deploy in on social media groups.
Watch the online store for sales during the month to help meet your goals.
Use evolution reset credits to get new CapOn points from OLD deploys (they do NOT count as new deploys)

And finally, be responsible. If your local government, your health, or any circumstances require you to Stay Home – DO NOT participate. It is up to each of us to determine what is safe and what is allowed. This is a game and not worth risking your own live or the lives of others.

March 2020 GOTM Winners + April POTM Requirements!

March has been a totally QRaZEE month. It started out well — we released some new packs in the store to help out with Clan Wars requirements, and released the Destination Renovation update after getting some feedback from players at Munzee Madness 9. Then, the COVID-19 situation escalated, and we scrambled to alter our plans so that they could be more accessible to players in a variety of living conditions. Some quick thinking by our staff members yielded the ongoing Social DistanZEEing event, which includes the popular Eventzee Couch Potato Party!

We are now happy to announce the winners of the March Garden of the Month (GOTM), give one last reminder for March Player of the Month (POTM), and announce the criteria for April POTM! The badges for March GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early April, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

March GOTM

This month, we chose gardens that represent our current state of affairs. Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Patchwork quilt NL, designed by sverlaan, and Scared Kitty Garden, designed by Ovaldas and BituX, as our winning March GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

This MASSIVE garden has been on our list for a while — we’ve just been waiting for the right time to recognize it! The pattern certainly does remind us of a cozy, comfortable quilt, maybe one we’ve been snuggling under during these days we’ve been stuck at home!

This cute, simple kitty garden is facing a larger cat garden that seems to be in progress — will there be more additions to its family?

This garden reminded us of a certain viral video showing a cat that is obviously displeased with its owners being home during this time of self quarantine. Don’t forget that our animal friends need to adjust to this new situation as well!

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

March POTM

March POTM’s requirements asked players to help clean up the map by capping or deploying 200 greenies OR capping 100 QRewzees. While some players were able to earn this badge right at the start of March, others may have had a more difficult time, especially in the second half of the month.

Congratulations to all the players who were able to meet the requirements! You can expect to see the badge in early April. If you were not able to meet the requirements, maybe this coming month’s POTM will work out better for you. Keep reading to find out!

Thank you for cleaning up the map and growing the game! While we may not be able to enjoy your efforts immediately, we certainly will once these tough times pass!

For April’s POTM we wanted to increase participation with our Global QRantine event. If you cap all of the munzees deployed by the event account within April, you’ll receive the POTM badge! The event begins April 2nd!

Maybe You’ll Spot the Phantom of the Opera with these 20/20 Vision Munzees!

So you finally bit the bullet and bought 2 tickets to that thing you love. Unfortunately, you got the worst seats in the house. Our sixth 20/20 Vision Munzee will let you experience the show as if you were right in front of the stage! These elegant magnifiers were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. Maybe your bird’s-eye view won’t be so bad after all!

Only three pairs of Theatre Binoculars will be deployed, and they will bounce to all colors of virtuals every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Virtual Magnets though so be sure to stock up! 

Points:

  • Cap: 200 points
  • CapOn (Host): 100 points

Capturing the Theatre Binoculars will add this classy Stage Sight badge to your collection! Remember, down the line we’ll be putting out an overall capture line, so don’t forget to check back for updates!

 

As of March 16, The Metropolitan Opera has been streaming a new opera each night for FREE on their homepage! A few, such as Carmen, Tristan und Isolde, and Macbeth are perhaps the most-well known to the general public, but this is a great opportunity to become a little more cultured and give the other lesser-known operas a shot! At the time of writing, these free operas are scheduled up until April 5th! While you won’t need Theatre Binoculars to view them, if you are lucky enough to own a pair, why not hold them in one hand as you watch? It’ll probably be a great arm workout!

You’ll be able to capture the 20/20 Vision specials on other players’ munzees as well as your own for the remainder of the year! As a reminder, all 20/20 Vision specials will leave the map on 12/31/2020 at 23:59 MHQ. More unique 20/20 Vision specials will launch throughout the year so keep on the lookout — you won’t want to miss out on these trendy lenses!

Elekter Joins Munzee as the Newest Pouch Creature!

The increase in positively-charged munzees seems to have drawn out a charismatic — dare we say, electric — new addition to the Munzee universe. Please welcome our latest Player Owned Bouncer (POB) to the game, as Elekter prepares to join the ranks of Magnetus, Puffle, and other Pouch Creatures!

You can shop Elekter HERE and the Pouch Creature collection HERE, but be sure to purchase before the sale expires!

Pouch Creatures are bouncing munzees based on items from our sister app, WallaBee. Like the Puffle, Elekter is a virtual-only Pouch Creature. It bounces to Virtual Munzees of all colors as well as Electric Mystery Munzees. Our newest Pouch Creature will cost $20 from the Freeze Tag Online Store. It will go live for sale today (March 25th) at 10:00 MHQ time! Elekter will be for sale until 10:00 April 1st, along with a number of our previous Pouch Creatures!

Like Tuli, Vesi, and Muru, Elekter is an evolving Pouch Creature that will change icons depending on the number of captures in a daily streak. After a specified number of total captures, the Pouch Creatures will “level up” when daily streaks are attained.

The timeframe is as follows:

  • Level 1: 0 or 1 day of Capture (Day 2 new level)
  • Level 2: 2 days of Capture in a row (Day 3 new level)
  • Level 3: 3 or more days of Capture in a row

When the streak is broken, the Pouch Creature will revert to Level 1.

Elekter Details

Elekter joins the current line of Pouch Creatures as a virtual munzee that will bounce to Virtuals and Electric Mystery Munzees every 6 hours or when capped. Deploying an Elekter will earn you 250 points. The Capture and CapOn points will vary per level as follows:

  • Elekter (Level 1)
    • Capture: 200 points
    • CapOn: 100 Points
    • CapOn (Host Owner): 50 points
  • Elekjoud (Level 2)
    • Capture: 300 points
    • CapOn: 200 Points
    • CapOn (Host Owner): 50 points
  • Elektrivool (Level 3)
    • Capture: 500 points
    • CapOn: 300 points
    • CapOn (Host Owner): 50 points

When the Bouncer Upgrade credit is used, your Elekter will also have the ability to be “nudged” to a new munzee. You can use the nudge feature up to three times a day (MHQ 24-hour day), but only after your munzee has sat for at least 3 hours. Additionally, the Bouncer Upgrade will also allow you to rename your Elekter! The name will still retain the unique number, but feel free to get creative and customize your Pouch Creature’s moniker. Please keep in mind our player code of conduct, and be mindful of maintaining a family friendly environment!

Elekter will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Elekter on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Elekter visits you. Elekter will be non-blastable. The capture radius is 500 ft (152.4 m). It will be attracted to Virtual Magnets ONLY as Elekter (Level 1). You can access Elekter under the “Only Expiring Specials” and “Only Pouch Creatures” filters.

There will be a number of badges to enjoy along with Elekter, including the following Deploy badge:

April 2020’s Resolution Can Be Done From The Comfort of Your Home!

It’s almost April, and while many of us are confined to our homes, that doesn’t mean our fitness has to suffer! As we announced in our January Resolutions blog, we will be launching monthly Capture Streak Badges centered on a year of being active. Each month’s badge will be dedicated to practicing a different exercise. Similar to how our Super Streak badges operate, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one munzee* each day for the entire month. This month’s badge may be tricky to get, but we believe in you!

Each month’s badge will be themed around the particular resolution goal. For April we thought that popular aerobic exercises would be a good way to maintain fitness, indoors or out! Time to rock those colorful sweatbands, arm warmers, leg warmers, and leotards!

Why are aerobic exercises important?

Aerobic exercises get your blood pumping! Good circulation is important as it means nutrients from the food you eat, the beverages you drink, and the air you breathe are more quickly delivered to your entire body, especially the extremities.

Healthline points out that, compared to exercises such as those featured in last month’s Resolution, “You perform aerobic exercises for a sustained period of time,” and additionally, “The American Heart Association recommends 30 minutes or more of aerobic exercise five or more days each week. That can be broken up, though. International Colour Day

According to the International School of Colour + Design, March 21st is International Colour Day because “around the equinox (aequi-equi+nox-night) the sun shines directly on the equator, and consequently, day and night have an approximate length all over the Earth.” As you know, how we perceive color is greatly affected by light sources — so if day and night are more similar for everyone around the world, the colors will appear more similarly to everyone as well!

To celebrate, we’ve got 2 new colorful things you might be interested in: a NEW badge and NEW generics available in the Freeze Tag Store!

NEW Badge

You can earn the [QR]ayon Box badge as of 10:00 MHQ today by capturing at least one of EVERY Virtual Munzee Color! Now before you start calling us out, we know Virtuals aren’t related to QR codes, but we couldn’t pass up the play on words!

NEW Generics

For players who enjoy the physical game, we have new colored strips of generics for sale in the Freeze Tag Store HERE!

The strips come with a sticker in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Violet. Each order will include two strips of 6 generics (12 stickers total) for $1.00. The codes are generic so the stickers can be shared with any player.

For now there is only a limited quantity available, so if you’ve gotten attached to them, snap them up ASAP! Depending on how popular these end up being we may restock them in the future!

Best Dressed Fall into Spring Events Contest Details!

With the first Fall into Spring events kicking off this weekend*, we can’t wait to see how players celebrate the change in season! Similar to last year’s 8zees Best Dressed Contest, the event host will choose a winner at each event based on best themed attire. Event attendees will have 2 of 3 outfit options:

  • if it’s Spring where the event is being held, consider dressing in a Spring-themed outfit, e.g. florals, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, etc.
  • likewise, if it’ll be Fall where the event is being held, consider dressing in a Fall-themed outfit, e.g. leaves, golden and jewel tones, in-season fruits and vegetables
  • if you’re game for a more challenging option, consider dressing as one of the Mythological Munzees, such as those that appear on the Fall into Spring Event Package badges, or take inspiration from our staff members below!

It’s the event hosts’ responsibility to decide which attendee will win the Best Dressed badge. In order to earn the special badge for winning this costume contest, the event host must submit an entry to our Google Form, which we will provide to each host. Unfortunately we will not be able to award any Best Dressed badges without a form submission, so be sure to get them in! You can see the artwork for the badge below!

Featuring another ethereal goddess, Trish, who is responsible for a lot of our event artwork! She and Louise are a dynamic Event Goddess duo!

We’ll share some of our favorite player outfits to the official Munzee social media pages throughout March and April, but the badge will not be awarded until after the events have wrapped up. Then we’ll add all of the winners to a gallery on the Munzee Blog to announce when the badge has been awarded!

Don’t forget there’s still time to purchase Fall into Spring Event Packages, but Trish’s diary is filling up so if you want custom artwork you better act fast! Remember that we’ve extended the period for Fall into Spring Events up to and including the month of May! For those hosting events in the coming weeks please remember to use caution and follow local guidelines in regards to health concerns.
