Reset Evolution Munzees Inside the App!

We had a lot of information for you yesterday on all the changes for Elemental Munzees, so to make sure this update didn’t fly under the radar, we’ve decided to feature it in its very own blog post. As of the updates made yesterday, you can now reset Evolution Munzees inside the app!

How to Reset an Evolution Munzee

Previously, this functionality was only available on the Munzee website. If you need a refresher on that, you can check out the instructions in the Help Guide.

Anyone can reset any Evolution Munzee in the app, whether you own the munzee or not:

  • Navigate to the Munzee Details of the Evolution Munzee you would like to reset
  • Tap on the purple [Reset Evolution] button at the bottom of the screen
  • Confirm that you would like to use an Evolution Reset Credit in the following popup
  • That’s it!

Reset Evolution Munzee

Benefits of Resetting Evolution Munzees

As illustrated in our screenshots above, the main benefit of resetting an Evolution Munzee is that you will be able to capture stages of that munzee that you haven’t captured yet!

While that often means earlier stages for most players, the opposite can also apply: if the Evolution Munzee has variants at the final stage, such as the Flower Evolutions, resetting it will re-roll the dice! This means you could potentially cap all 5 of the Carnation Blossoms below from the same munzee!

Sound Familiar?

If you’ve been keeping up with our recent updates, you may notice we’ve done quite a few relating to this specific area of the app:

We are always trying to find ways to balance the advanced gameplay available on our website with the convenience — and unfortunately, smaller screen size — of our app. We hope this change accomplishes that, and that you look forward to the many more improvements to come!

Social DistanZEEing Bonuses

If you haven’t marked [I’m Going!]  on our Social DistanZEEing Global Munzee Event, fix that ASAP! We’ll be awarding goodies periodically, so you don’t want to miss out! Today at 10:00 MHQ, attendees were awarded 1 physical magnet and 1 virtual magnet, which will definitely be useful in attracting the NEW Rainbow Trail MOBs or testing out the NEW Elemental Magnetization feature!

To make magnets even more useful, we’ve increased their strength so that they can now attract up to 5 bouncers! This boost will be active from 12:00 MHQ today until 23:59 MHQ on March 22nd! That’s the same end time as the 2x Mystery Days bonus, so be sure to take advantage of it!

Lastly, if you are late to our Couch Potato Party, you can read more about it in yesterday’s blog post HERE!

We hope you’ll join in on the fun!

Shocking News: a New Elemental Has Emerged + Many More Updates!

Like the Jewel Munzees, it’s been quite a while since a new Elemental has joined the mix! Joining current elements — Water, Earth, Fire, Ice, and Air — is a shocking new type!

We are happy to announce the Electric Mystery Munzee is now available for purchase and all Premium Members have been given 1 Electric Mystery Munzee for free! You can pick up the Electric Mystery Munzee from the Freeze Tag Online Store HERE.

Electric Mystery Munzee Details

The Electric Mystery joins the Air Mystery as a virtual type. Once the Electric Mystery is captured, it will scatter 3 Charge Munzees onto nearby Virtual Colors, similar to how the current Physical Elementals work. Those virtuals will then be worth double points for the next capture!

Capture Radius: 300 feet, not blastable

Deploy: 50 points

Capture/CapOn: Split of 60 points with 10 point minimum

Charge Capture/CapOn: 2x points of the virtual it lands on

To access the Electric Mystery munzee, turn on your “Virtual – Mysteries” filter. To access the Charge munzee, turn on your “All Expiring Specials” filter. For more information on the Electric Mystery, you can check out our Help Guide article.

Electric Mystery Munzees can be magnetized (more on this below!) with Virtual Magnets. From our current Bouncing Munzee roster, the following can be attracted to Electric Mysteries:

  • Magnetus
  • Chimera
  • Hadavale
  • Pimedus
  • Pegasus (from time to time when others are in short supply)

Elemental Magnetization

Continuing our initiative to increase magnet utility from last month, starting from today via an OTA update you can now use Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets on Elemental Munzees!

The specific Elemental you magnetize will still only bring Bouncers that land on that type of Munzee though, so you’ll be able to have a bit more control over what you’re attracting. This should help Myth chasers encounter some of the rarer myths out there, like Chimeras and Wyverns.

You can easily magnetize Elementals within the app, but you can also magnetize on the web as well. To learn more about Magnetizing munzees visit the Munzee Help Guide. There has also been an update to Evolution Munzee Resets in the app, but we’ll have more information on that tomorrow!

NEW Earth Mystery Scatters

In a push to make Boulder scatters exclusive to Catapults, which we feel are hard-earned Clan Weapons, we decided to change things up for Earth Mysteries yet again.

This time, we headed in a growing in a different direction, which we think takes Earth Mystery scatters to the next level! In place of Boulders, Tree Munzees will now scatter to nearby Greenies after an Earth Mystery has been capped.

In turn, when a Tree Munzee is captured, up to 3 new virtuals will scatter nearby. Currently, there are 2 possible scatters — a Red Apple or a Cherry Blossom Munzee! Over time we’ll introduce different types of virtuals that scatter from Tree Munzees so stay tuned for more!

Tree Munzees are worth 50 points for Capture and 10 points for CapOn, while Red Apples and Cherry Blossoms are both worth 25 points for Capture.

Updated Scatter Artwork

Since the Charge, Tree, Red Apple, and Cherry Blossom munzees’ pins looked so snazzy, we decided to update the artwork for all the other Elemental scatters as well! We hope this helps them to stand out more on the map and makes capping them just a bit more special!

2x Mystery Days!

Lastly, to cap off all of this great news, ALL Mystery Munzees will be worth double points from now through the weekend! Starting at 13:00 MHQ on March 18 players will be able to earn double points on Mystery Captures, Deploys, and CapOns. The bonus will last until 23:59 on Sunday March 22, so be sure to stock up on the above Electric Mystery Munzees, and don’t forget we have the All the Mystery Pack to earn even more points this weekend! You can shop the whole Elemental Mystery Collection HERE!

Chase ZEE Rainbow!

As stated in our post on Friday, we are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation, and stress that player safety is a top priority. We have a lot of fun things planned over the next few weeks, and are trying to consider the wide variety of situations our players are facing. Tweaks have been made to our original designs to accommodate this. That being said, we are not planning to stop rolling out new game pieces or app updates anytime soon! Our goal is to give you options to “Play your way” safely!

It seems the umbrella Flat Matt opened may come in handy, because Rainbows are here! Immediately following the Flat Day the 13th: Part 3 specials, we are happy to introduce our brand-new Rainbow Trail specials! Starting at 13:00 MHQ on March 17th, Rainbow Trail specials will begin bouncing around the map until 23:59 MHQ on March 31st.

Rainbow Trail Details

777 of these specials will bounce to Greenies, Shamrocks, and Earth Mystery munzees every 7 hours or when captured.

This cheerful arc will be worth 77 points for both the Capture and CapOn, so you don’t want to miss out! As it is a physical MOB, it will be attracted to Physical Magnets on Greenies. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

When you capture a Rainbow Trail, up to three different Colored Zed Munzees will generate (like Feathers) and scatter within 1,000 feet. As we are aware that many players may be under quarantine, we’ve extended the capture radius from our original limit to 300 feet.

These munzees will stay on the map for 1 hour or when captured. Each Colored Zed will award 100 points AND potentially a small number of Zeds to your account! We thought this would be a fun way to accumulate some extra currency to go toward useful items like Blasts and Magnets, especially during these tough times.

Badges

Additionally, there will be two badges to earn for these specials. One based on the number of Rainbow Trail specials you capture, and one for the number of Colored Zeds you capture. But just how many captures it takes to earn both badges will be kept a secret! However, we will reveal the first badge in the line, which appears as follows, so maybe that will give you a hint!

One more thing before we go! Leprechauns and Shamrocks really wanted to join in on the fun too! All activity on Shamrocks, POB Leprechauns, and Leprechaun variants will be worth double points during this entire special! To celebrate we’ve put Shamrock Credits on sale for $1 and added Leprechauns back into the store!

We hope you’ll see some rainbows during this stormy seclusion!

Hit the Slopes with March’s First 20/20 Vision Munzees!

Get your last bit of powder in this month before the weather starts to warm up! Our fifth 20/20 Vision Munzee will shield your eyes from the sun’s rays, even those bouncing off all the reflective white snow! These lime green goggles were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. These goggles will look great off the slopes as well, giving your outfit a touch of futuristic cool.

Only three pairs of Ski Goggles will be deployed, and they will bounce to Greenies every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Physical Magnets though so be sure to stock up!

Points:

  • Cap: 200 points
  • CapOn (Host): 100 points

Capturing the Ski Goggles will add this very cool Slope Sight badge to your collection! Remember, down the line we’ll be putting out an overall capture line, so don’t forget to check back for updates!

According to Forbes, in the most recent Winter Olympics, the ski goggles of choice for many athletes were from Oakley’s Harmony Fade collection:

The Harmony Fade collection is made up of seven types of goggles and five styles of sunglasses for a variety of sports. The Prizm lens technology is found in Oakley’s snow, sport and everyday lines. In the snow line, the technology claims to dramatically enhance contrast and visibility over a wide range of light conditions, and was engineered to offer this versatility and reduce the need to switch lenses as lighting conditions change.

You’ll be able to capture the 20/20 Vision specials on other players’ munzees as well as your own for the remainder of the year! As a reminder, all 20/20 Vision specials will leave the map on 12/31/2020 at 23:59 MHQ. More unique 20/20 Vision specials will launch throughout the year so keep on the lookout — you won’t want to miss out on these trendy lenses!

Show us how you Munzee! Tweet us @Munzee or be sure to post a photo and mention us on Facebook (@Munzee) or Instagram (@munzeeapp). Good luck, and Munzee on!

Munzee Event Safety Concerns

Like many around the world, we have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation. Although our real-world adventure game encourages players to explore the areas around them, the safety of our players is of paramount importance.

At this moment we are not canceling any Munzee Events that hosts have put so much time and effort into planning. We instead will be extending the Fall Into Spring event time frame through May 31st, or later if necessary. So any themed event packages purchased can be rescheduled to a different time during this period. As always please reach out to Events Manager Louise Gibson by emailing her at events@munzee.com for all of your event needs.

We encourage hosts and players alike to use caution in the weeks to come regarding their own personal safety. We urge you all to stay safe and follow local guidelines in regards to large event gatherings.

Regular gameplay can still be enjoyed around the world, but we do caution those in areas with higher risk of COVID-19 to use their best judgment when playing. Clan Wars will continue as planned, so we suggest players communicate with one another to help grow virtual gameplay for those worried about safety in their area.

We thank you all for your support of our game. Our mission has always been to build community through active gameplay, but above all we must keep player safety as a top priority. We will continue to reassess the situation in the weeks to come. Stay safe and Munzee on.

Flat Day The 13th Pt 3 Specials

March seems like an innocent enough month, but sometimes when the stars align, it is capable of great evil. Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar taught us to “Beware the Ides of March,” but it’s got nothing on Flat Day The 13th Part 3! Starting at 13:00 MHQ on March 12th, Flat Day the 13th Part 3 specials will begin bouncing around the map until 13:00 MHQ on March 17th.

Flat Day The 13th Part 3: The Return! Details

If you want to get caught up on the storyline, here are our posts for Part 1 and Part 2. This year, 1,300 of these specials will bounce to all Flat Friends and Virtual Colors every 6 hours or when captured.

This lucky number will be worth 130 points for both the Capture and CapOn, so you don’t want to miss out! The ominous virtual MOB will be attracted to Virtual Magnets on Virtual Colors! However, they will not be blastable. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

Badges

Additionally, there will be four badges to earn based on the number of Flat Day The 13th Part 3 specials you capture. But just how many captures it takes to earn all 4 badges will be kept a secret!  However, we will reveal the first badge in the line, which appears as follows:

Flat Matt claims he’s not superstitious, but opening an umbrella indoors will only cause trouble! Hopefully his luck turns around on FLAT DAY THE 13TH!

SPECIAL UPDATE: ALL Flats will be on the map for this time period! Also a special 13% off Flat Sale including Flat Matt available ONLY in the Flat Pack! Sale ends Monday!

We hope you’re ready to face these foul flat specials once again!

Event Spotlight: Weston Super Munzees

While Munzee can certainly be a solo game if you choose, there’s no denying the appeal in meeting others who share your interests. Munzee Events are perhaps the best example of this, as they allow you to meet both old and new players in a safe, friendly environment. On top of that, there are usually activities, games, and — if you’re lucky — goodie bags! That being said, planning events requires a considerable amount of effort. So, to make it easier for prospective hosts (and maybe even recurring hosts), we decided to put the spotlight on past events, Munzee-Toolkit style! We hope this series of posts will inspire you to try hosting an event if you never have before, or provide you with ideas to spice up future events if you’re an old hand at it!

Today we’re featuring the Weston Super Munzees event, which took place on April 8, 2018 at The Old Colonial in Weston-Super-Mare, UK and was hosted by nuttynan, Lizeb, lankyspanky, and TheJenks7.

Give us a brief summary about your event!

I had just moved to Weston and wanted to grow the map as there were very few Munzees there. I concentrated on deploying Water, Prize Wheels and Flats clusters to encourage players to deploy and cap as well. The Flats deploys were particularly prolific as it was a double points weekend. These clusters enticed more and more players to attend. Plus I did a free prize draw for host places for all those who attended (I paid for the entire event myself). Although the Initial cost was quite a lot the subsequent deploys from players all over the world became the basis of the massive Munzee presence the Weston-Super-Mare now has.

What tips do you have when hosting an awesome event?

Build the map by doing clusters of certain types of physicals and virtuals so players can easily see what can be capped in big numbers. Also offering a prize draw for host places is always popular and brings more players to an event.

What made your event unique?

Seaside location with brand new deploys in huge clusters, so no one had capped them.

Would you like to highlight any future events you’re hosting?

https://calendar.munzee.com/event1578954942/

We are celebrating Weston’s links with helicopters history and chasing little helicopters around the streets beside the famous Helicopter Museum (NOT on the museum grounds or airfield).

There are huge numbers of Airs and Joysticks (with the resulting number of scatter types to chase after as well). We welcome any type of deploys in and around the event venue and the obvious “loops” which indicate where the event icons may be deployed. https://www.munzee.com/map/gcjuj4xqj/15.5

Thank you to nuttynan for being such a great host and submitting the details for this event! We will be reaching out to other past event hosts in the future, so keep an eye on your inbox!

Destination Renovation Explanation!

…renovating a MOTEL!???

If you build it, they will come. But what if you’ve already built it, and players have come and gone? Well we’re looking to do a little construction, so we’re excited to announce that Destination Renovations are now LIVE for Motel Munzees!

This new feature will allow players to renovate Motels and add additional rooms for even more capping fun. You’ll be able to renovate any Motel Munzee (whether you own it or not) on both the web and Munzee app. Find a breakdown of all the details below!

Star Struck:

Motel Munzees are now a star-based system. Each star ranking equals 5 rooms, so effective immediately all original Motel Munzees have been converted into 1-Star Motels. The icon images on the map are currently updating, but if you do see a “blank” or original Motel icon please note that, that is indeed a 1-Star Motel.

Renovating Motels will offer the following:

  • 1-Star Motel: 5 rooms (Standard Motel)
  • 2-Star Motel: 10 Rooms
  • 3-Star Motel: 15 Rooms

By renovating you could be a part of a 3-Star Motel that is now on par with Virtual Resorts in terms of number of rooms, but worth so many more points! Every time you Renovate a Motel you’ll earn 50 points as well, so get your construction hat on!

The Destination Renovation is currently only available for Motel Munzees, but it’s safe to say construction on other Destination Munzee types may break ground soon!

So how do you Renovate a Motel? Well first you’ll need a Destination Credit!

Destination Credit:

All Motel Munzee credits have now been converted into Destination Credits. Players will use Destination Credits to both convert generic munzees into Motels, and also to renovate Motels.

  • Converting a greenie into a Motel = 1 Destination Credit
  • Renovating a Motel = 1 Destination Credit per 5 rooms.

You may see that you already have Destination Credits in your inventory. These were previously Motel Credits you had earned, for many players. As more physical Destination types are allowed to renovate these types may also get converted into Destination Credits, but for now Destination credits can only be used for Motels. You can purchase Destination Credits in the Freeze Tag Online Store, so be sure to stock up in case you come across any full Motels!

A Note on Motel Munzee Stickers:

If you have pre-coded Motel stickers that have yet to be deployed, they should still work just fine! When you go through the deploy process, you’ll just see a 1-Star Motel pin in place of the old Motel pin. However, if you do run into any issues, sticker-related or otherwise, please e-mail support@munzee.com!

How To Renovate A Destination:

You’ll be able to renovate Motel Munzees in the app AND on the Munzee website!

Anyone can renovate a Motel Munzee in the app:

  • Navigate to the Munzee Details of the Motel you would like to renovate
  • Tap on the blue [Renovate Destination] button at the bottom of the screen
  • Confirm that you would like to use a Destination Credit in the following popup
  • That’s it!

Destination Renovation Screenshot

Only the player who owns the Motel, or ZeeQRew members will be able to renovate Motels on the Munzee Website:

  • Click [Edit Munzee] on the munzee you would like to renovate
  • Click [Renovate]
  • Click [Upgrade] on the level you would like to make the munzee
    • The number on the left is your inventory of Destination Credits
    • The number on the right is how many Credits it costs to renovate
  • Confirm that you would like to use a Destination Credit in the following popup
  • Success!

Benefits Of Destination Renovation:

Alongside an increase in CapOn points for Motel room owners there are a number of benefits for Renovating Munzees!

  • If you try to cap a Motel and find that it’s full, you can renovate it and then cap it again to get a room for yourself.
  • If you wanted to help friends or clan members get into a full motel, you can renovate it from any location in the world.
  • If your own Motel is full, you can renovate it to get more CapOn points from other players who might flock to get the new rooms.
  • If you’ve got a lot of Credits in stock, but no room to deploy Destination Munzees, this let’s you make your existing Motels even better!
  • Offer to renovate other players’ Motels in exchange for virtual trades!?! Help grow the worldwide community.
  • Make physical Destinations that require physical activity even MORE valuable!

We hope you’re as excited as we are for these new credits! We’re always looking for ways to refresh the map and add value to game pieces you may already own!

Take a walk around your neighborhood — maybe the landscape has already changed!

Munzee on!
