August 2020 GOTM Winners + September POTM Requirements!

August saw the conclusion of the Camp Competition, with Camp FrEEZ emerging as the winner! However, all teams walked away with some useful prizes, including those of the Premium variety! New releases for the month include the Camp Critters, the Camp Munzee Greeting Card, and the Aphrodite Modern Myth, among others. Lastly, we also pushed out several updates, which included a NEW Tutorials area! We are now happy to announce the winners of the August Garden of the Month (GOTM), give a reminder for August Player of the Month (POTM), and announce the criteria for September POTM! The badges for August GOTM and POTM will be awarded in early September, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!

August GOTM

This time last year, we released the She Said YES munzees to mark a very special occasion… so the first garden below caught our eye! Then we picked out another garden to match! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the FLAT-O-FANT Garden, designed by volki2000, and the A Giraffe Visits Gadsden, AL Garden, designed by Dinklebergh, as our winning August GOTM! The gardens will appear as follows:

FLAT-O-FANT by volki2000 in Karlsruhe, Germany

Flat Matt’s notorious bad luck is the reason why he’s not included in this garden!

This cute cartoon-style elephant is constructed with lots of Flat Friend pins! We especially love the striking color combination of green Flat Robs and pink Flat Lous!

A Giraffe Visits Gadsden, AL by Dinklebergh in Gadsden, AL

Anyone think this giraffe resembles The Last Unicorn? Just me?

This rendering of a giraffe head is spot-on! Most of us just think of the yellow fur and brown spots, but the addition of the pink ears and blue eyes keeps the garden from looking too duochromatic.

All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:

Rules for GOTM nominations:

  1. Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
  2. The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
  3. The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
  4. We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.

Send your nomination for GOTM to iloveyou@munzee.com! Keep in mind that we take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months. Just be sure your garden follows the nomination rules in order to be considered eligible!

If you need help deploying in a Virtual Garden, you can check out this step-by-step tutorial that will making deploying in a garden easy no matter how long you’ve been playing. To fill in the gardens, make sure to stock up on Virtuals and Color Credits from the Freeze Tag Online Store.

August POTM

August’s POTM called for nominations for players who have not been playing Munzee for long, but whose mastery of the game is increasing by leaps and bounds, or is otherwise a great addition to the community! There’s still time to send in your nominations — please fill out this Google Form for every user you’d like to nominate: https://forms.gle/o1SQfMHv93w2v8WL9 Separate nominations for each user makes it easier for us to award the badges!

Congratulations to all the nominees! You can expect to see the badge in early September. If you weren’t nominated this time, maybe this coming month’s POTM will work out better for you. Keep reading to find out!

Thank you for sharing your picks for Camp Munzee Campers! We loved reading about all the new players who’ve discovered the joys of our app, and have given new life to Munzee communities big and small all around the world!

September POTM Requirements

This month, we wanted to put the spotlight on scatters! Simply cap 100 scatters and you’ll have met the requirements to earn the badge! To clarify, scatters are the munzees that are generated after capturing a scattering munzee. For example, when you cap an Air Mystery, that triggers Feathers or Golden Feathers to appear on the map for you to capture. Feathers and Golden Feathers are scatters.

If you need help finding scattering munzees near you, remember that we have quite a few different types that scatter — here’s a list, with links to the corresponding Help Guide articles:

As in the previous months, this unique POTM badge is eligible for any player to earn regardless of previous wins. The badge will appear as follows:

We hope you’re excited for what September has in store!

Munzee on!
