Flat DHS Scatters Return for VCR Day 2023!

On June 7th, VCR Day is celebrated, paying homage to the iconic video cassette recorder! In this age of streaming services and digital media, VCRs hold a special place in our hearts, reminding us of simpler times when we eagerly anticipated rewinding our favorite movies or recording TV shows for later enjoyment. Our Flat DHS Scatter Event for VCR Day 2023 seeks to honor this beloved technology by bringing back the Flat DHS scatters for a short time!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Wednesday, June 7th at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, June 11 at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat DHS, up to 3 Tapes may be scattered nearby!

As before, the Tapes will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat DHS owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These tape scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Tapes are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 25 points

General Info

Don’t forget to edit the title and the notes of a Greeting Card to add a personal touch! While the capture message will contain your Munzee username as all Greeting Card capture messages do, we think typing in a more specific note will go a long way to creating a more unique and special experience!

Remember that these munzees will be archived 7 days after they are deployed, so make sure your intended recipient captures it before then!

Charm Bracelet Specials for the Magpie in All of Us!

As today is Valentine’s Day, we wanted to treat everyone to something shiny and new to collect — charms for charm bracelets! As physical reminders of special occasions or even manifestations of one’s personality, charms are a fun conversation piece — so we’ve designed some lovely charms around upcoming holidays and events!

Charm Bracelet Specials

Charm Bracelet specials are now live on the map for everyone! We’re trying something new this time and don’t have an end date for them yet, but we’ll make sure you have ample time to cap them and that you’ll be informed well in advance of the end date once it’s decided. These specials will be released in waves, but will end at a total of 1,500 Charm Boxes and 1,500 Charm Cases.

Points

  • Capture: 150
  • CapOn: 50

They will bounce around to the following landing pads every 4 hours or when capped:

These specials will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture a Charm Box or Charm Case on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Charm Box or Charm Case visits you. These munzees will not be blastable. They will be attracted to magnets, available from the Freeze Tag Online Store. You can access the Charm Box or Charm Case under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Specials” filters.

When a Charm Box or Charm Case is captured, it will scatter up to 1 Charm for all players. At launch the Charm Box and Charm Case will scatter different charms, and more charms will appear as the months go on, so make sure to keep an eye out!

While we want to keep most of the charms a surprise right now, here’s a sneak peek at one of them:

These scatters will be worth 50 points per capture and visible to any player! They expire after 30 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well!

Badges

There are two lines of badges related to Charm Bracelet specials.

The first line is based on overall Charm Box and Charm Case captures. These badges will show the journey of a growing jewelry collection! The first badge in this line depicts a green velvet jewelry box and is earned by capping either a Charm Box or Charm Case!

The second line of badges is based on capping different combinations of Charms, similar to last year’s Pizza My Heart specials. Make sure to cap at least one of each charm so you can complete your bracelets!

HeartBeatz Credits are Beating for You!

We wanted to hit the ground running this year with a new limited-time credit for you to earn through specific gameplay actions listed below! We’re not only kicking off the new year with a focus on fitness, we’re also celebrating heart health leading into the Valentine’s Day season. So love yourself and get moving to the beat!

Like Jewel Shards, Weapon Shards, and Cogs, you’ll be able to redeem HeartBeatz Credits (HBC) at the Redeem Store for game pieces. However, like the past limited-time credits, they can only be redeemed until 02:30 MHQ on Thursday, February 9th.

How to Earn HeartBeatz Credits

HeartBeatz Credits can be earned from now until 23:59 MHQ on Tuesday, February 7th.

National Flashlight Day comes but once a year, and now it’s here! If you need a break from collecting Jukebox records or missed out on the badges from last year, we hope these scatters will make the holidays a little brighter!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Wednesday, December 21st at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, December 25th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat Flashlight, up to 3 Themed Flashlights may be scattered nearby!

As before, the Flashlights will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat Flashlight owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! We’re enjoying the retro vibes that the Jukebox specials have brought to the Munzee world, so naturally our minds turned to another retro-inspired gamepiece — the Flat DHS! Looking at the calendar, we noticed that another perfect day to feature it was coming up: World TV Day on Monday! So, we’re bringing back the Flat DHS scatters for a short time!

Flat Cat Scatters to Celebrate National Cat Day!

Whether you’re a cat person or not, there’s no denying that cats are the animals we associate most with spooky season — after all, they are the preferred pet of witches (especially black ones) — though owls, with their ominous hoots, are a close second (but aren’t they basically just cats with wings?). It’s even more fitting then, that National Cat Day is on October 29th, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have some fun with Mari’s Flat Cats!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Thursday, October 27th at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, October 30th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture Flat Cats, up to 3 Cat Toys may be scattered nearby!

Congratulations humbird7!

Today we celebrate a significant event in Munzee history, which has been many years in the making, and occurred Friday afternoon. It’s time to announce a new “Queen Munzee” has arrived — congratulations to humbird7, whose consistent efforts have finally allowed her to reach the ultimate goal!

If you’ve attended any Munzee Events in the past (especially the larger events, or any events near her home base), you may have met humbird7, aka Sandra, but for those who haven’t been fortunate enough to get to know her, or would like a refresher, you can check out her previous Player of the Week post HERE!

Hummingbird Details

To celebrate this momentus occasion, we’ve created a new temporary POB especially for humbird7 based on her signature bird and profile picture. As humbird7 always posts a lovely hummingbird photo on most of the bouncers she caps, we encourage you to also post photos and messages on these munzees as well, if you are lucky to cap one! We’re sure humbird7 will enjoy seeing your well-wishes!

After re-reading humbird7’s POTW post mentioned above, we checked to see if any of her wishes have been fulfilled since then, and which we could try to fulfill now that she’s Queen:

“My top wish is that the virtuals would not block physical placement; that there would be 2 layers to the game. Say, you visit Celebration Park and want to leave a physical, you can’t because of all of the virtuals in the area.”

Since the “Points in a Day” badge line was the only thing left for us to tackle, we got to work on extending it! It now has 4 more badges! They will be retroactive, but only within the last 30 days.

In addition, although we had fulfilled her wish about the “Unique Myth Capture” badge line, we’ve planned to extend it very soon with 1 more badge for each of the following myths:

  • Dragon
  • Yeti

  • Hydra
  • Pegasus
  • Cyclops

You’ll notice the MythologiGals are left out — this is because their population hasn’t reached the same numbers as the other myths since they are the newest set. We’ll have to extend their badges some time in the future!

We’ll also extend the Unique Modern Myth Capture badge line by 1, most likely on the same day the Unique Myth Capture badges are extended!

Redeem Pumpkoins for Prizes!

You’ve heard of Candy Corn Credits, C04L Credits, Sham Rock Credits, and Painted Rose Credits — now get ready for Pumpkoin Credits! After reviewing the activity on Painted Rose Credits and making some improvements (we hope 🤞) we’ve created a new limited-time credit for you to earn and redeem!

Like Jewel Shards, Weapon Shards, and Cogs, you’ll be able to redeem Pumpkoin Credits (PC) at the Redeem Store for game pieces. However, like the past limited-time credits, they can only be redeemed until 02:30 MHQ on Thursday, November 3rd (when November Clan Wars starts).

How Many Caps Will it Take to Travel Around ZEE World?

Yesterday we announced the results of our Soap Box Derby — congratulations again to all the winners! Even if you didn’t get a special badge, we hope you enjoyed the theme and collecting the different racer parts.

Since we’ve officially closed the book on those specials, and it has been a week since they left the map, it’s about time for a new set of specials to collect! This time, we’re mixing it up again, scatter trail style!

Now Boarding!

Around ZEE World specials are now live on the map for everyone and will remain available until October 2 at 23:59 MHQ.

These specials will be released in waves, ending at a total of 400 of each (physical + virtual). This means there will be 800 Tickets bouncing around on the map! They will bounce around every 6 hours or when capped.

These specials will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture a Ticket on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Ticket visits you. These munzees will not be blastable. They will be attracted to magnets, available from the Freeze Tag Online Store. You can access the Tickets under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Specials” filters.

Make the Connection

Once you capture a Ticket to Ride OR Ticket to Fly, it will scatter 1 Steam Powered Roller Blades nearby!

This is your first mode of transportation, as you can see by the “1” at the bottom of the pin.

If you manage to capture it, it has a chance of scattering the next mode of transportation, much like the Walkie Talkie Watch scatters.

There will be 8 modes of transportation you’ll need to cap in order to complete the trip! While a missed connection can happen at any point during your journey, you’ll find that it is more likely to happen as you get closer to the end — just like in real life, small delays can add up to larger ones later on.

These scatters will be worth 50 points upon capture, except for the final mode of transportation, which is worth 100 points.

There are 4 badges related to Around ZEE World specials.

The first 3 are based on total captures of these specials, so make sure to cap as many as you can — even if you aren’t able to complete the trip, it will still contribute progress towards these badges. You can see the first badge in this line below:

French Connection- Capture 1 Around ZEE World special of any type.

The last badge does require you to make the full trip and capture at least one of each mode of transportation — but you only have to do it once! By our calculations, it shouldn’t take too many attempts on average, unless you’re EXTREMELY unlucky.
