Lone Star Bash General Schedule

We’ve had a few questions regarding travel and scheduling for Lone Star Bash, so below is a general schedule for the weekend.

  • Registration: 1-3pm at MHQ in Downtown McKinney
  • State Fair: 5-9pm at The State Fair of Texas in Fair Park. You are not required to be present the whole time. We will have designated meeting spots every hour, and the badge for the event will be available at 7pm.

  • Lone Star Games: 9am-12pm at Gabe Nesbitt Park in McKinney. The Eventzee hunt will run from 9-11am. At 11:30am, we will award prizes and make announcements.
  • Lone Star Bash at TUPPS: 6-9pm at TUPPs Brewery in McKinney. This event is meant to hang out with MHQ Staff and get to know other players.

  • Lone Star Dash: 8am-12pm at Celebration Park in Allen. The 3K will begin at 8am. Bubble Soccer and Segway Obstacle Course will run from 9am-12pm.

Travel to the State Fair

Members of MHQ will be riding the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) train from Parker Road Station in Plano down to the State Fair. Players are welcome to join, and there will be at least one member of MHQ at the start, the transfer, and the exit stations. The first group will be leaving Parker Road Station at 4:00pm on the Red Line. They will then transfer to the Green Line at Pearl/Arts District Station at 4:41pm. Arrival at Fair Park Station is estimated at 4:50pm.

A second group will follow up leaving Parker Road Station at 5:00pm on the Red Line. They will transfer to the Green Line at Pearl/Arts District Station at 5:41pm. Arrival at Fair Park Station is estimated at 5:50pm. Players are welcome to take the DART Rail with MHQ staff or use another mode of transportation. The DART fare IS NOT covered by MHQ and must be paid for personally.

There will be full, comprehensive schedules available at registration on Friday.

We can’t wait to see everyone!

Virtual Reset

You’ve probably noticed that we’ve been encouraging quite a bit of map clean up recently. From the Recycle Icons in June (and again in August) to the introduction of Dormant and Inactive player account titles. We want to ensure that current players aren’t being hindered or shut out by those who don’t maintain their munzees. With your help, these actions have cleaned much of the map and brought it to the best condition in years. This progress is now going to be taken to a new level.

On October 3rd, a virtual “reset” will be taking place. If you are an active player who does not have a “Dormant” or “Inactive” title, you have nothing to worry about. Your virtuals will remain in their locations. For those WITH “Dormant” or “Inactive” titles, please be aware that this will be taking place. (If you need a quick reminder about these titles, check out the Post from the Prez.)

Virtuals of “Inactive” players will be undeployed and their coordinates will be reset. They will then be placed back in their Undeployed list. If these players become active again, they will be able to deploy them again anywhere in the world. “Inactive” and “Dormant” players will also be receiving an email with this information. Virtuals that WILL NOT be effected are:

  • Emerald Gardens
  • Miss Wheelchair USA Garden
  • Virtual Resorts
  • Virtual Trails

While we hate to see players become inactive, we certainly understand that life can get in the way, priorities change, etc. Players who are respectful to the Munzee community and its rules are certainly welcome back any time. However, there are some inactive players who have vast quantities of virtuals in high density areas to the point that they have monopolized them. In most of these cases, it was done when Virtual Munzees were first introduced. Now, those former players receive no benefit from the points being earned, and you, the current players, do not benefit as much from the newer munzees with more beneficial point structures. While we are grateful for all of those who have played, our current and future players are our main priority.

Now, you may be thinking, “I’ve got an “Inactive” tag, but I don’t want this to happen to me. What can I do to stop it?” Or, you may be thinking, “I’m an active player. I just wanted to know what was going on, and now I’ve read this long blog post. Have I just wasted that time?” For those in the former category, all you have to do is scan the munzee below. Doing so will remove your account from a “Dormant” or “Inactive” status, and your account will not be effected. For those in the latter category, no, of course you haven’t wasted your time! You read our blog, and we appreciate it very much because it means you’re a great part of our community and will most likely spread the word. Also, you get to scan the munzee below to earn points! Proactive current players might also start to plan for upcoming open locations to deploy virtuals, these will obviously be first come first served. We will post a list of player generated virtual gardens prior to October 3.

  • Virtual Reset occurring October 3rd
  • Reset effects virtuals of players with “Inactive” title
  • Does not effect Emerald Gardens, Miss Wheelchair USA Garden, Virtual Resorts, or Virtual Trails
  • Virtuals will be undeployed, have their coordinates reset, and will be returned to the player’s Undeployed list
  • Previously occupied locations will be open for new/current players to deploy
  • Scan the munzee above to remove “Inactive” or “Dormant” status or if you just want the points

Thanks for your support, and Munzee on!

Changes to the Online Map

For logged out and non-premium users, the Munzee Online Map now looks a little different. Starting today, all users will have the same access when using the online map, including Sandbox, Route, Plan for Group, and Filters.

These changes have been made to increase accessibility for everyone while planning their Munzee adventures. This DOES NOT impact any filters or abilities within the app. To use advanced filters in-app, you still must be a Premium Member.

We also added a gift to Premium Members’ accounts. All current Premium Members have had two (2) MVMs added to their Undeployed list as a thank you for being loyal players and community members.

We hope you enjoy this change. Thank you all for your support.

Munzee Testimonial Submissions

We’re in the process of updating our website, and we want to feature more players and their interactions with the game and community. We will be adding new testimonials to home page, and we’re opening up a form for submissions. The steps to submit are easy:

  1. Follow this link to the Google Form.
  2. Enter your username and type up a short (max 3-4 sentences) testimonial about how you use Munzee, interact with the community, or what you get from playing Munzee.
  3. Click submit!

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be selecting some of these submissions to be featured. We couldn’t ask for a better community of players, and we want to show you off!

Thanks in advance, and Munzee on!

Munzee Version 3.2.3 Update

We are constantly looking for and implementing new improvements and additions for the Munzee app. Our next release brings back a highly requested feature along with more additions to improve your experience while playing Munzee. These changes are:

  • Pinch-to-Zoom Scanner: The updated scanner now allows for pinch-to-zoom! Trying to scan a munzee that’s just a bit too high? Can’t get quite close enough to a munzee off the beaten path? Now, you can zoom in!
  • Coordinate Navigation: Driving to find a munzee or special icon? The navigation pop-up on the Munzee details view now shows the munzee’s coordinates for those using an external GPS.
  • Clan Stats: The clan details page now includes a “Stats” tab to show more detailed information.
  • Updated Translations
  • Minor Fixes and Improvements

This update will be released this week, so watch for App and Play Store updates! We will also be pushing out an announcement via the app when the new update is available. We hope you enjoy the new version!

From the Desk of Louise: Birthday Events Wrap Up

What a fab month July was, thank you to our wonderful players for helping us celebrate our 5th birthday! We’ve loved the photos and stories from the events around the world and have even received some birthday cards and presents from you, thank you very much!

There were 89 birthday events worldwide and there were 2782 caps of our lovely birthday event special… You may have seen him, Robicorn was parading around at every birthday event!

The Birthday Present add on was popular too, it was at most events and 3412 Emeralds were given away in our 10 new gardens around the world. Those gardens are almost full but there are still some Emeralds available to purchase if you haven’t bought one already (you can purchase one per day). Also, keep your suggestions for future gardens coming in here.

To keep you excited about events we have overhauled the calendar and have the new Event Trail addition. They are good to go and will start featuring at events from this weekend. See yesterday’s blog for info which now includes pricing information.

Once again thank you so much for celebrating with us, we are so proud of our wonderful worldwide community! Munzee On!

Update on the Birthday Present Special

Sadly, this is the last weekend of Birthday Month. While we hate to watch the celebration come to an end, we know there are bigger and better things to come. In full Munzee spirit, though, we’ve decided to go all out this weekend. If you weren’t aware, we started a Double Point Weekend this morning at 00:01 MHQ time. Of course, that’s not all.

For the remainder of Birthday Month, we’ve also updated the Birthday Specials. We’ve made two big changes to them:

  1. Scatter Radius: While a 5 mile scatter radius was representative of our 5th birthday, it isn’t necessarily ideal for all players. Now, instead of scattering within 5 miles, the Birthday Icons will scatter within 1 mile.
  2. Credit Percentage: There are quite a few items you can earn from the Birthday Icons. We’ve changed up the algorithm to increase the chances of getting Diamond and Ruby credits when you capture the Birthday Icon.

So get out there and help us end Birthday Month with a bang! Have fun, and Munzee on!

A Myriad of Information to End the Week

Things are always busy here at MHQ, and that means a lot of new ideas in the works for our wonderful community. As we wrap up the last full week in June, there some things, old and new, that we wanted you to be aware of.

Munzee Version 3.2.2

After some changes made by Google, we released Munzee 3.2.2 yesterday for Android and this morning for iOS. It corrects errors with the map when viewing from anywhere in the app other than the main screen (e.g., deploy screen and alert configuration screen).  If you haven’t updated to this version, please do.

Birthday Month

July has always been a big celebration for our Birthday Month. Along with MHQ Birthday Bash and birthday events, be on the lookout for an announcement of plans throughout the month. We’re turning five, and it’s going to be a fun celebration.

Urban Camo and Skinned Munzees

As an American based company, we try our best to be inclusive of our whole community of players because we appreciate all of our players worldwide. Not all symbols and icons are recognizable in every country, and we realize that. If you have an idea for a new or modified urban camo or skinned munzee, we want to hear about it! While we do have new ideas in the works, we know we can’t think of everything. You can email iloveyou@munzee.com with your ideas.

Part of our appreciation of our players is shown through Player of the Week. We’ve had some amazing stories from players, and we always want to hear more. If you know of someone who you think deserves to be POTW, email us their username at iloveyou@munzee.com so we can reach out to them.

If you have any problems or need help, please feel free to email support@munzee.com.

We really can’t explain enough how important to us you, our players, are. Everything we do in this game is to make the whole experience better for you. So thank you for growing the map and spreading the Munzee love around the world. We’re excited for what’s coming, and we hope you will be, too.

Munzee on!
