We’re excited to show off our 2018 “Most Christmassy Attendee” gallery! Below are winners from events that hosts chose or players voted on. We’ll be updating the gallery as more events happen throughout the month. Merry Christmas!
Hey everybody, as 2018 comes to a close we have some announcements for MHQ hosted events in 2019, including MHQ Bash 6, Munzee Madness 8 and more.
These events will include a variety of features to make them bigger than ever before and we want to celebrate with as many of our players as possible. Please keep in mind that there are still many details to line out for these events, but we wanted to give everyone adequate time to plan if they’ll be joining us.
Munzee Madness 8- March 2019
We will be hosting a dinner on March 9, 2019 in conjunction with Munzee Madness 8, an annual weekend of player hosted events in California each Spring. Although this gathering is separate from the planned events of Munzee Madness, we hope that Munzee Madness players will join the Freeze Tag team members for an evening of food, festivities and fun. The event is free to the public and you can RSVP by visiting the event page on the Munzee Calendar.

GeoWoodstock XVII- May 2019
As a continuation of our Coexist Campaign, we will be hosting an event near GeoWoodstock XVII in Fort Worth, TX the weekend of May 25, 2019. GeoWoodstock is primarily a geocaching event, but the mega event has proven to be an ideal opportunity to cross-promote all location-based gaming. No details regarding time and location have been defined yet, but expect more news closer to the event itself.

Munzee’s 8th Birthday Bash- July 2019
We’ll celebrate our eighth birthday near FTHQ in Orange County, California in July 2019. No specific dates or locations have been set for this event, but players can expect the opportunity to earn multiple badges, meet members of the Freeze Tag team and more. Stay tuned for more information regarding worldwide Birthday event themes next year.
MHQ Bash 6- September 2019
After the success of MH-BOO Bash in October, we’re excited to announce the dates of the sixth annual MHQ Bash. To accommodate the event season, dates for MHQ Bash 6 have been set for the end of September. MHQ Bash 6 will kickoff on Friday September 27, 2019 with various events throughout the weekend until September 29. Like previous years the Bash will once again take place in North Texas. No specific locations have been chosen yet, but we plan on exploring new areas in the cities surrounding McKinney, TX in the coming months. MHQ Bash 6 attendee packages will go on sale some time next year so stay tuned for more information. Players interested in joining can RSVP by visiting the event page on the Munzee Calendar.

These events are sure to be a great time, but you never know what else might pop up throughout the year. Please note that these are just Munzee events we’re hosting, team members will still be going to a variety of player hosted events throughout the year as well. We hope you’ll join us at various points in the year!
Follow the blog for more information about Munzee Events in the coming months!
Ho Ho Ho, it’s nearly December!!!
Are you ready for the Munzee Christmas Events?
It’s going to be a busy month, just take a look at the calendar. If there isn’t an event near you it’s not too late to host one yourself, just submit an event here: https://calendar.munzee.com/submit.
Don’t forget to dig out those Christmassy outfits, the best one at an event will get this badge and feature on the Munzee Blog (all nominating hosts will get the badge too, please just email me with a picture and the username of your winner):
There is a Christmas Gift up for grabs at events that have taken the $20 add on. It will be coded to the event badge or munzee /1 in the event account if no badge. On capping this munzee the attendee will receive a prize wheel credit and it will scatter an A. Partridge icon virtual munzee up to 500ft away (only to be seen by that player):
If the player then caps their A. Partridge icon they will also receive a virtual with a colour credit, plus 100 points! This icon will expire in 2 hours and you must have both event filters turned on in the app to see them.
These rewards allow you to choose where to grow the map! Maybe you’ll choose to build a local garden with other attendees?
So, have a great time, enjoy catching up with your Munzee friends and playing our wonderful game. Happy Holidays and Season’s Greetings to you all. Thank you for your support as always.
We’ve got an all new Places Munzee and this one is special! Have you ever wanted an easy way to identify where Munzee Virtual Gardens are without having to load the entire design on the map? Well you’re in luck!
Starting RIGHT NOW you can purchase Virtual Garden Places Munzees in the Freeze Tag Online Store at https://store.freezetag.com/products/places-munzees!
Virtual Garden Places Munzees can be deployed as an indicator of a Munzee Virtual Garden. These gardens can be made up of any type of virtual Munzee (clan weapons, jewels, etc.). Please note that this type is not a part of the actual Garden, but instead a pin to indicate its general location. Munzee Virtual Gardens are player created works of art based on Virtual Munzee deploys. Examples of Virtual Gardens include Sunset Cowboy in Ft. Worth, TX, Rose Garden in UK, and Scared Kitty in Lithuania. You may also choose to deploy this type of Place near an official Munzee Emerald Garden.
There are so many unique Virtual Gardens throughout the world, so this new Places Munzee will work slightly different than others. Virtual Garden Places Munzees have a lowered 0.5 mile deploy proximity, so if there are other Gardens nearby you’ll still be able to deploy one. Only one Place is allowed per garden, and the garden must contain a minimum of 50 virtual type Munzees. When submitting your Virtual Garden Places Munzee for approval we ask that you include a link to the Garden’s location on the Munzee map and also any helpful information in the Munzee Notes section. You can do this by submitting and then visiting the Munzee page to update the name and notes while it is pending approval. Also if there is a spreadsheet associated with the garden link it in the description so others can help grow it.
Since Virtual Garden Places Munzees will need to be double checked on the Munzee map it may take a bit longer than usual to approve these. Please bear with our support staff and if they decline your submission please work with them to locate the area for confirmation. You will receive an email with approval or rejection with a reason. Please see all details about Places Munzees in our help manual.
Virtual Garden Places Munzees are available for $5, and you can purchase two per account every 30 days. Normal Places Munzees are $10 each and you are limited to one per type every 30 days. Since these new Munzees are more affordable, and they are allowed to be closer together, the points for Virtual Garden Places Munzees are a bit lower as well.
- Deploy: 40
- Capture: 10
- Cap-On: 5
Like other Places Munzees, these will have 1,000 ft capture radius, can be captured daily, but cannot be captured via Blast Captures. You can also earn badges for capturing Places Munzees as well as capture streaks!
With all of these new Places Munzees available we have expanded the Places Munzee filters in the current version of the Munzee app. You’ll now be able to filter the map by individual Places Munzee types. So if you’re just looking for Virtual Gardens, you’ll be able to make that a bit easier. The current layout of the filters may seem a bit clunky, but a filter reorganization is a big feature for Munzee 4.0, so this will be a lot more organized when that version launches soon. Once again thank you for your patience as we roll out new Munzee types alongside our 4.0 development!
So get out there and explore the artistic glory of Virtual Garden Munzees!
It’s that time again! We have just completed the Halloween events so now it’s time to start thinking about Christmas events. This year we are focussing on the Days of Christmas and these special packages are available for events throughout the whole of December.
Please get your events on the calendar and let me know which package you’d like. Each one has a unique host badge:
- Partridge in a Pear Tree – Basic event and no proximity restrictions – $30
- Two Turtle Doves – Partridge plus 20 virtuals – $50
- Three French Hens – Turtle Doves plus badge and icon – $150
- Four Calling Birds – French Hens plus Eventzee – $200
We have something very exciting instead of the Emerald giveaway. It’s $20 per event, as usual, but the details will be shared during November. It’s going to be a fun addition attendees will love!
There is a badge to be won at each event for the “Most Christmassy Attendee” too. So dust off your dodgy jumpers or full on Santa costumes! The host will let me know who the winner is and you will feature on the blog.
This is the Attendee Badge that everyone will get and Father Christmas will be paying you a visit too!
So get those events on the calendar, orders in and artwork requests in nice and early please. As Trish’s diary fills up we will have to move to generic artwork.
If you’ve never hosted a Munzee event before don’t worry, I will guide you through the whole process and I look forward to working with you. If you’ve hosted before I look forward to working with you again!
Worldwide Events Manager
We want the whole world to celebrate MH-BOO Bash with us, even if you can’t make it to McKinney, TX! We’ve got two exclusive badges that you can only earn this weekend. Anyone worldwide can earn these spooky badges as long as you complete the requirements!
These badges will be available from 00:01 on Oct 26 until 23:59 MHQ on Oct 28. Good luck and have fun growing the physical map near you!
We’re so excited to see players in McKinney this weekend, but to those who can’t attend we hope you’ll be there in spooky spirit! Don’t forget Z.E.E. still needs your protection from the Zombie outbreak too, so you’ll have your hands full. There also might be another Halloween event near you so be sure to check out the Events Calendar!
The Flat Friends are about to make a new pal! Flat Rob, Flat Matt, and Flat Lou will have to watch their gameplay, because the ban hammer is knocking- welcome the all new Flat Hammock!
This new game piece is based on the one-man wrecking crew Daniel Hammock, who has been running Munzee Support for 5 years. No one at MHQ can think of a time when they’ve actually called him Daniel, or Danny as his family calls him. He’s always affectionately been known as Hammock. Although he started off as a player, in Hammock’s own words, his “dream came true” when he was given “the opportunity of a lifetime” to work for Munzee. Even before officially joining MHQ, Hammock always took it upon himself to help out the Munzee community with any and all issues that would arise. He is best known within the community for swinging the ban hammer, punishing all those who break the code of conduct. To those who know him well he’s a fluffy unicorn of a guy who is very kind and giving. In his free time he enjoys taking his family out for crazy Youtube adventures for the Munzee Monthly Giveaway and giving away prizes each month for players to enjoy. He’s also an avid fan of unicorns, if the Flat Hammock design didn’t make that very apparent.
The first Flat Hammock has been released as a permanent special in Gettysburg, PA. Players will normally be able to purchase their own Flat Hammocks in the Freeze Tag Online Store for $4. In celebration of our new Flat Friend though all Flat Munzees will be discounted! Remember that Flat Friends are not always on sale, so stock up while you can!
The Flat Friends Sale will last until Friday at 15:00 MHQ:
- Hammock: $3.75- originally $4
- Rob: $3.75- originally $4
- Louise: $4 (with $0.25 still going to charity)- originally $4.25
- Matt: $4.75- originally $5
Players with a Premium Membership will also receive one free Flat Hammock as well.
Like the other Flat Friends, Flat Hammock has a unique release schedule. Hammock may love working for Munzee, but he keeps busy with a variety of other jobs as well. Like other Flats he will choose when Flat Hammocks are available on the map, which will be during his working hours, major event seasons and more. Please note that all scheduled times are based on MHQ time and are subject to change. Since we’re in the middle of Halloween events though, all Flat Friends are on the map until the end of the month and Flat Hammock will join in the fun too!
Here is the general breakdown of Flat Hammocks:
Deploy – 19 Points
Cap/CapOn – Split 80 points with a minimum of 10 points.
Flat Hammocks’ proximity is not affected by other munzees except other Flats. Flat Hammocks must be 50ft from other players’ deploys and 150ft from your own deploys.
You’ll also be able to earn a variety of badges for capturing and deploying Flat Hammocks.
Don’t forget about DOUBLE POINT FLAT FRIENDS WEEKEND! On Friday we challenged our players to attend events and capture event pins, and they successfully completed the challenge! There will be double points on all Flat Friends captures and deploys beginning October 26 at 00:01 until October 28 at 23:59. That’s MH-BOO Bash weekend too, so if you’re looking for somewhere to deploy why not check out McKinney, TX! The calendar is also full of events all month long!
Thank you all for your support of the Support Man himself. Our Flat Friends line of munzees would not be possible without the enthusiasm of our players. Of course a huge THANK YOU to Hammock for his dedication to this game. So beware the ban hammer, hug Hammock when you meet him and Munzee On!
Ghosts and ghouls, something wicked this way comes! Bewitching Lou is flying across the night sky because Halloween Munzee Events officially kick off today! This has been our biggest month ever for Munzee events, so we’re excited to see a big turnout this weekend.
With Halloween Events in overdrive, we want to give you all another opportunity to earn double points on all Flat Friends during MH-BOO Bash Weekend! There are 61 events this weekend alone, so here is your challenge:
The worldwide community will need to capture 500 event indicator pins and 5,000 event pins by 23:59 MHQ on 10/14. We understand that not everyone can make it to events, so we’ll also have a secondary goal for deploying virtual munzees of any type as well. If 2,500 virtuals of any type are deployed throughout the weekend, that can replace one of the other requirements.
Be sure to check the Munzee calendar to find an event near you. Deploy virts at events as well to better your chances, support other players, and gain ! We have a handful of virtual items on sale in the Freeze Tag Online Store!
- Amethyst: $3 (originally $4)- BUY HERE
- Emerald: $8 (originally $10)- BUY HERE
- MVM: $3.75 (originally $4.50)- BUY HERE
- Surprise: $3.75 (originally $4.50)- BUY HERE
Just a reminder that the point increase for Event Munzees is now effective as well!
- Event pins are now worth 10 points each
- Event Indicator Pins are now worth 100 points each
- Event Badges are now worth 500 points
- CoExist Munzees are now worth 200 points
We hope you all have a howling good time for the rest of the month and we can’t wait to see some of you at MH-BOO Bash! We might even have some fun tricks, or treats, up our sleeves for the worldwide community too…
Happy hauntings and Munzee on!
One final reminder for hosts from last month’s blog: All events moving forward will receive 50 event pins and proximity between event pins will be 100 feet. Effective date was October 12.
Howdy Munzee community around the world!
October was already going to be a busy month for events with all of the Halloween events on the calendar! However over the past 4 days many of you have shown your commitment to reaching Level 5 in the Clan Wars in a new way, by hosting events. Due to the overwhelming number, over 130 as of the time of this blog post, I felt it was necessary to give all players a few expectations for events.
Event hosts are important to us at MHQ. You’ve always been a generally smaller audience interacting directly with Louise, our Worldwide Events Manager, and have come to understand our systems. With this new rush of hosts and events we would like to welcome you, and share a few words of wisdom and some expectations.
The first is easy, understand you are not the only host Louise is dealing with. Respect her time and your own by FULLY reading her event creation email because it includes ALL of the information you need to be a successful host.
Second, be prepared in advance. Louise is great and she works at all hours of the day and night, but she may not be able to handle your “emergency” in a timely fashion if you haven’t prepared yourself. Again, most questions she has are covered by the email she sends you with your account details, please read it fully. You can also seek the advice of others who have hosted in the past or work together with others to share the load.
Third, Location Location Location! Events need to be in their own location. You cannot have 2 events in the same place around the same time, otherwise it is considered one event. Have the 2nd event at a later time in another location.
Finally, YOU ARE AN EXTENSION OF MHQ* to any players who attend your events. You could be the first person to introduce someone to this great game! Please understand that event hosts are held to a higher set of rules:
- Many events have proximity rules lifted so they can deploy physical munzees in crowded areas. This does not give you the right to break the rules and teach others to do the same.
- All deployments should physically be in the location where the pin is on the map, just like the regular game.
- No event should have multiple munzees to scan at a single location.
- No event should be conducted with a sheet of paper with munzees on it to scan as you walk/ride/drive from one location to the next.
The rules of the game are in place for a reason. Event hosts are held to a higher standard and need to set an example for all players. This is an important point for us because you are representing the game of Munzee to a wider audience. YOU are growing the game. We appreciate that very much and ask that you do so respectfully.
Thank you for reading these rules and requests, violations are being dealt with in accordance with the player code of conduct.
Let’s all have a great time in October and maybe we’ll see you at some of the events!
Rob, President of Freeze Tag Games
*you are figuratively an extension of MHQ. not literally. 😉
We’ve got a couple new products available in the Freeze Tag Online Store!
First up, a new Urban Camo design fresh off last week’s release. These new Maintenance Record urban camo designs are perfect for hiding in plain sight. They even feature a spot the first handful players can leave a quick record of their capture at! Think of it like an old school log.
In fact these designs were so cool that Freeze Tag President Rob Vardeman decided to sign a few! Five of the stickers that are currently for sale will be signed and dated by Rob. These special orders will be randomly shipped out, but they will also include a few bonus stickers from Zee Pres himself! The bonus stickers will be taped to the back of the Maintenance Record sticker.
Each of these stickers are individually sold and cost $0.50. There are a limited number of quantity, but if demand is high enough we’ll order more soon!
You can purchase Urban Camos here: https://bit.ly/2xFzN1lhttps://bit.ly/2xFzN1l
We’re also celebrating Comic Book Day with a new Personal Tag featuring some throwback artwork! For those that may not remember, we spent our spectacular sixth birthday chasing down comic book specials throughout July 2017. These Comic Book Day personals feature that special’s artwork design along with the new Munzee logo!
You can purchase Personal Tags here: https://bit.ly/2M4AKVu
Thank you all once again for your support! As always you can expect even more fun game pieces in the near future. Munzee on!
