You’ve all played with Fire and been frozen by Ice, but now it’s time to clean up with the new Earth Mystery Munzee!
This new physical Munzee type is much like its elemental counterparts, but don’t expect it to scatter every time you cap an Earth Mystery! While Fire left you burned and Ice frozen solid, the Earth Munzee is all about Going Green. When you capture an Earth Munzee all munzees that haven’t been capped in over a year will turn into a Recycle Munzee for two hours- but only for you to see.
Name: Earth Mystery Munzee Points:
Cap/CapOn: Split of 60 with min of 5.
Earth Mystery Munzees are available NOW in the Munzee Online Store. They are physical stickers sold in blocks of 20 for $40 USD. There is currently a limit of 100 per person, per month.
We’re also excited to announce the Elemental Munzee Pak which will include 10 Fire, Ice and Earth Mystery Munzees for $40. You can also find these in the Munzee Online Store.
Speaking of the Fire and Ice Mystery Munzees, the Yetis and Dragons heard your cries and thought to bring you a nice surprise. Fire and Ice Mysteries now have an increased chance of attracting Dragons and Yetis, respectively!
Be on the lookout for Earth shattering badges to be released soon!

Scatter Munzees can send you every which way to cap their offshoots. Munzee player “Snarf” suggested an awesome new badge line to show just how dedicated our players are to capping Scatter Munzees. We were happy to take their idea and run with it!
With that, we’re proud to announce the mind-bending Scatter Capture badge line!
The Scatter Capture badge line includes three badges: “Scatter Brained!”, “View Askew!”, and “Helter Skelter!” for capping 5, 50, and 100 Scatter Munzees, respectively.
Scatter Brained! – Cap 5 Scatter Munzees
View Askew! – Cap 50 Scatter Munzees
Helter Skelter! – Cap 100 Scatter Munzees
The Scatter Capture badges will begin awarding TOMORROW (February 9th). These badges ARE retroactive.
NOTE: These badges are only for capping the original Scatter Munzee, not the ScatterED munzees. Keep an eye out for other lines that may be coming very soon. 😉
In August of 2015, we allowed some escaped specials to roam the map as Nomads. Last April, Mystery Nomads joined the Virtual and Physical Nomads on the map. Now, a much more villainous nomad will be joining the crew.
The Jewel Thief Nomad travels around the globe in search of gems to covet. It bounces on the physical jewels every 12 hours or until it is captured and sent along its way. For capturing this heinous thief, you will earn 100 points and the owner of the jewel owner will earn 20 points. While it’s already too late to stop their escape, we do know that they will being making appearances at 10:00 MHQ time tomorrow, February 2nd.
Name: Jewel Thief Nomad
How Many Are There: 10
What Does It Do: Bounces on physical jewels (Aquamarine, Topaz, Diamond, Pink Diamond, and Ruby Munzees) every 12 hours or when capped.
CapOn (for host owner): 20

We need your help to get the world’s jewels safe. Are you in?
Every country has it’s own customs and traditions. For the United States and Canada, one of those happens to be letting a groundhog predict our seasons… We’re going to celebrate this with a Munzee special!
Groundhog Day is celebrated on February 2nd. Traditionally, if a groundhog leaves its burrow when it is cloudy, spring will arrive early (before the vernal equinox). If it is a sunny day, the groundhog will see it’s shadow and return to its burrow. This foreshadows six more weeks of winter. While the accuracy of this tradition is often up for debate, it’s fun speculate nonetheless. This year, we’d like to share the fun with everyone!
Beginning tomorrow, January 27th, at 00:01 MHQ time, 2017 Groundhog icons will appear on the map. These will bounce on geenies, Ice Mystery Munzees, and Shamrocks every 6 hours or when capped. These icons will remain on the map until February 2nd at 23:59 MHQ time.
For capturing a Groundhog icon, you will earn 22 points. The owner of the host munzee will earn 6 points.
There are THREE badges that can be earned during this special. The badge you earn depends on what type of munzee the host is:
Greenie: If you capture a Groundhog icon on a greenie, you will earn the Groundhog Day badge.
Ice Mystery Munzee: If you capture a Groundhog icon on an Ice Mystery Munzee, you will earn the Winter badge. (Note: Capture of an Ice Mystery Munzee will still send out scatters.)
Shamrock: If you capture a Groundhog icon on a Shamrock Munzee, you will earn the Spring badge.
We’re excited to announce the release of the next set of Munzee Coinz featuring The Mythological Munzees! You’ll soon be able to track Unicorn, Leprechaun, Dragon and Yeti munzees with these limited edition coins.
As with previous Munzee Coinz, each coin has a distinct Munzee code and an Extagz code on the back. The Mythological Coinz can also be set to track each individual type by editing the coin’s settings on your Munzee online profile. By enabling this feature it will exclusively track every time you capture that particular Mythological Munzee. You can then see that tracking data on your Munzee online profile page.
For example: If you enable this feature for a Yeti coin it will only track the Yeti munzees you have captured.
Due to the overwhelming response from our Coinz of The Month Club signups we have decided to expand our initial Mythological coin stock to include Mythological Munzee lapel pins as well. These pins will work just like Coinz, but once you purchase the pin the coin code will automatically be added to your account. Since this wasn’t initially planned the pins will not have the coin code imprinted on the back, but you can view this coin’s code on your Munzee online profile so you can still have others discover your coin.
Coins and lapel pins will go on sale Thursday January 26th at 3 PM MHQ Time in the Munzee online store. Munzee Coinz will cost $10 and and lapel pins with coin codes will cost $11. Please note that supplies are very limited. Players will be able to buy all 4 Mythologicals, but will be limited to either one coin or one pin.
For example: You can buy a leprechaun coin and a yeti pin, but you cannot buy a leprechaun pin and a leprechaun coin.
We’re excited to expand our Places Munzees to new locations! However, we need your help! We’re looking for recommendations for new locations to deploy Places Munzees. In addition, we are opening up the Stadium Places type to all sports. These locations will still need to fall under the two current categories of Places Munzees: Stadiums and Airports.
You can follow this link to a Google Form where you can tell us the Type of Place, Location Name (i.e. name of the stadium or airport), and the city/state/country. This form will be live until Wednesday, January 25th at 23:59 MHQ time.
Just a reminder, Rob will be out of the office for a while, so Flat Robs will be on the map beginning on Monday, January 23rd at 00:01 MHQ time. They will remain on the map until February 5th at 23:59 MHQ time. We’ve got quite a few events happening and plenty of Munzee fun to be had during that time.
We released the first Evolution Munzees in October. Since then, new sets have entered the game, and we have plenty more planned for the future. With these things in mind, we are ready to introduce Evolution Munzee badges!
