More Evolutions for Mitmegu!

With the release of the Void Mystery last month, all the conditions for NEW Mitmegu Evolutions (aka “Megu-lutions”) to emerge have been met! To celebrate we’ve also expanded how many Mitmegus you can own! Mitmegu and other shape-shifting friends have also been added back to the Freeze Tag Online Store HERE! Read on to learn more!

NEW Evolution Details

As before, unlike other Pouch Creatures, Mitmegu will change forms depending on what it lands on and capture streaks will not impact the changing critter’s evolution.

With the addition of these evolutions, the regular Mitmegu is now only cappable on Greenies.

However, if the Mitmegu lands on an Elemental Mystery, it will change forms!

  • If Mitmegu lands on a Water Mystery it turns into Jootmegu
  • If Mitmegu lands on an Earth Mystery it turns into Rohimegu
  • If Mitmegu lands on a Fire Mystery it turns into Lokemegu
  • NEW! If Mitmegu lands on an Air Mystery it turns into Ohkmegu
  • NEW! If Mitmegu lands on an Electric Mystery it turns into Murinmegu
  • NEW! If Mitmegu lands on a Void Mystery it turns into Urgasmegu

As a refresher, the points for Mitmegu and its Megu-lutions are as follows:

  • Mitmegu
    • Deploy: 250
    • Capture: 200
    • CapOn: 100
    • CapOn (Host Owner): 50
  • Megu-lutions
    • Capture: 400
    • CapOn: 100
    • CapOn (Host Owner): 50

Mitmegu will retain its number when it changes, and if you upgrade and change its name it will keep that name on all forms. Players can cap Mitmegu on their own munzees as well. You can find Mitmegu by turning on your “All Expiring Specials,” “All Limited Edition Specials,” or “All Pouch Creatures” filters. This new Pouch Creature WILL be attracted to physical magnets, but only as Mitmegu on Greenies.

Badges

Like the first batch, there will also be three badges to earn per variant. This means there are now 22 badges in the Mitmegu line (1 deploy badge + 3 capture badges * 7 forms).

Here are the first capture badges for the new Megu-lutions:

Shape Shifters Return to Store!

Remember you can now own multiple Mitmegu, so they have been added back in the Freeze Tag Online Store from 12:00 MHQ on Monday, October 4th to 12:00 MHQ on Monday, November 1st! You’ll find our other shape-shifting Pouch Creatures on sale as well!

The Mitmegu and its Megu-lutions are from our sister app WallaBee! Learn more about it and the other Pouch Creatures at our Help Guide article.

We hope you look forward to seeing some new creatures on the map!

MHQ is Throwing Out Some Boomerang Bouncers!

If you thought the Aussie Animals were the only Australian-themed bouncers you were going to get, guess again! These bouncers are both beautiful and potentially deadly — you may recall that boomerangs were originally used by Australian Aboriginal tribes as hunting weapons! Please exercise extreme caution as you make your approach — we make no guarantees on our aim!

Boomerang Details

We have six designs of bouncing MOB specials (3 virtual, 3 physical) flying around the world from now all the way until February 9 at 23:59 MHQ time! These wooden wonders land on Greenies and Virtuals respectively, but both also land on their corresponding Elemental Munzees as well! Virtual Boomerangs will land on Air Mystery Munzees and physical Boomerangs will land on Earth Mystery Munzees. The specials will bounce every 6 hours or when captured. 756 of these specials have been released (126 of each type) for plenty of capping opportunities!

The physical specials will be attracted to Munzee Magnets on Greenies, while the virtual specials will be attracted to Virtual Magnets on Virts. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

Physical Specials

The physical specials include the Root Runner Boomerang, the Country Crawler Boomerang, and the Great Dividing Boomerang. These physical bouncers will land on the following:

  • Greenies
  • Earth Mystery Munzees

The physical bouncing specials will all be worth 261 points for the Capture and 75 points for the Host.

Virtual Specials

The virtual specials include the Parting Sea Boomerang, the Sunsetter Boomerang, and the Coral Catcher Boomerang. These virtual bouncers will land on the following:

  • All colors of Virtual Munzees
  • Air Mystery Munzees

These virtual bouncing specials will all be worth 126 points for the Capture and 75 points for the Host.

Badges

Additionally, there will be three badges to earn based on number of captures of Boomerang specials. Similar to our Aussie Animals, the artwork for these badges is based on items from our sister app WallaBee! But just how many captures it takes to earn all 3 badges will be kept a secret!  However, we will reveal the first badge in the line, which appears as follows:

We hope these bouncers will fly to a munzee near you!

Bowling Ball Munzee Details

UPDATE: This blog was originally posted in November 2018. As of November 2019, the Bowling Ball Munzee has been updated,  reflected by the information below. You can find complete information about all Gaming Munzees on the Help Guide.

As promised, we have the details for the ALL NEW Bowling Ball Munzee! This addition to the Gaming Munzees is sure to knock a few pins loose! The Bowling Ball point system is based on ten-pin bowling, and you will have a chance to earn more points based on how many “pins” you “knock down.”

BASIC GAMEPLAY:

Bowling Ball Munzee:

Are you ready to play this classic game the Munzee way? Capturing a Bowling Ball will award you 25 points to start. The Bowling Ball Munzee will then initiate a mini-game (within a game, within a game!) for more points. Capturing a Bowling Ball Munzee will lead to a new virtual munzee called “Bowling – 1st Roll” being scattered to a location within 750 ft. You will be able to see the second stage (1st Roll) only after stage one (Bowling Ball) is captured. The scattered munzees will remain active for 1 hour or until captured from within a 150ft distance.

1st Roll Munzee:

Capturing the 1st Roll Munzee, released after Capturing the Bowling Ball, will provide different options for players. If you earn a STRIKE, you will be awarded 300 points, and the game will be done. You also have the opportunity to earn anywhere between 1-9 points (one for each pin “knocked” down), and the game will advance to a virtual “2nd Roll,” which will be scattered within 500ft.

2nd Roll Munzee:

A 2nd Roll Munzee will be made available to players who have capped a Bowling Ball and a 1st Roll and did not earn a Strike on the 1st Roll. When the 2nd Roll Munzee is captured, players will either earn a SPARE and be awarded 150 points, or they will earn between 10-80 points based on number of pins “knocked” down. Either way, this will conclude the game!

POINT BREAKDOWN:

Bowling Ball Munzee

  • Deploy: 50 points
  • Capture: 25 points
  • CapOn: 20 points

Alien Day Means Invasion of New Specials!

Are you sad that the ZEEster Egg specials will be leaving the map on Sunday at 22:22 MHQ time? If only another egg would fly down and fill the void! Wait— didn’t MHQ promise that there would be MOBs on the map every day in April to help with Clan War requirements? AND isn’t today a funky sort of holiday? Ah, yes, it’s Alien Day. And MHQ isn’t going to disappoint. ??

The Alien Invasion Specials will include two bouncing specials, one that comes equipped with a scatter. They invaded the map at 9:11 MHQ time on April 26 and will remain until Sunday, May 5 at 23:59 MHQ time. Think you can spot a UFO? First it’s probably best to read up on them…

Alien Egg

To start things off, only one Alien Egg special hit the map. Only one?! Fear not, every time an Alien Egg is capped, another will be added to the map for a maximum of 426 Alien Eggs total.

The Alien Egg is a physical MOB that doesn’t want to stay in place. It will bounce around every 4 hours or when capped. You can increase your chances of capturing this bouncing special with Munzee Magnets, since the Alien Egg WILL be attracted to them.

Points

  • Cap: 52 points
  • Host: 26 points

Where exactly can one find these scrambled space snacks? The Alien Egg will land on the following:

  • Greenies
  • Physical Farm Set Evolutions
    • Tomato Seed, Tomato Plant, Tomato
    • Corn Seed, Corn Plant, Corn
    • Golden Carrot Seed, Golden Carrot Plant, Golden Carrot
    • Calf, Cow, Milk
    • Piglet, Pig, Bacon
    • Lean-To Shed, Garden Shed, Barn
    • Hoe, Plow, Tractor

There will be two badges to earn in association with the Alien Egg Munzees. The first badge will appear as follows:

EGGStraterrestrial– Capture 1 Alien Egg Special

So, each time you capture an Alien Egg, another will be deployed somewhere around the world until 426 are active. PLUS, it will cause an Alien Potato to scatter to a nearby Greenie within 1750 feet (533.4 m).

Alien Potato

It seems the aliens are trying to repopulate their species, but something turned out wrong… Yep, the Alien Egg scatters a special for you to enjoy as well! And it’s JUST as cute as the ZEEster Hatched Egg scatters! ?

See- sooo cute!

The Alien Potato will hatch on a Greenie 1,750 feet from the Alien Egg captured prior. It will stay there for two hours or when capped, available to ANY player. Each Alien Potato can only be captured ONCE. They will land exclusively on Greenies within the scatter radius. Although the Alien Potato doesn’t actually bounce after it is capped, it will count as a MOB in Clan Wars.

Points

  • Cap: 51 points
  • Host: 25 points

While there are two badges to be earned in association with Alien Egg captures, there are also two badges to earn for capturing Alien Potatoes. The first in the series will appear as follows:

Space Spuds– Capture 1 Alien Potato Special

And that’s not all!

UFO

What’s vibrant green and shapeless and has five eyes? A Munzee UFO! These little green men have become a nuisance to farms around the world and they must be stopped! This hybrid special will land on physicals and virtuals, similar to how some Munzee Myths operate. While we’re only starting out with one Alien Egg hitting the map, you will be treated to 426 UFO specials from the start!

This MOB will bounce around every 4 hours or when captured. The UFO specials WILL be attracted to Virtual Magnets only.

Points

  • Cap: 40 points
  • Host: 26 points

Finally, it’s been determined where you can find UFOs! ? The UFO Munzees will land on the following:

  • Virtuals
  • Physical and Virtual Farm Set Evolutions
    • Tomato Seed, Tomato Plant, Tomato
    • Corn Seed, Corn Plant, Corn
    • Golden Carrot See, Golden Carrot Plant, Golden Carrot
    • Calf, Cow, Milk
    • Piglet, Pig, Bacon
    • Lean-To Shed, Garden Shed, Barn
    • Hoe, Plow, Tractor
    • Carrot Seed, Carrot Plant, Carrot
    • Peas Seed, Peas Plant, Peas
    • Colt, Racehorse, Championship Horse
    • Chick, Chicken, Eggs
    • Farmer, Farmer and Wife, Family
    • Potted Plant, Garden, Field

There will also be two badges you can earn based on UFO Munzee captures, to bring the total to six new badges associated with the Alien Invasion. The first in the series will appear as follows:

Celestial Cows– Capture 1 UFO Special

This new redesign better aligns with the other Destination Munzees, so we hope this new eye-catching design will help you check-in more frequently! Holiday Goodies are on the Horizon with ZEEster Eggs!

Update: All ZEEster Eggs and Hatched Eggs count as MOBs (Munzee Owned Bouncers.)

Will the Easter Bunny be hopping to your house this year? Even if you’re not expecting a visit from this furry friend, you can still fill up your Easter basket with plenty of treats. However, these goodies aren’t of the edible variety— but that doesn’t mean that they won’t satisfy! The Munzee ZEEster Eggs will launch on April 17 at 00:01 MHQ time and stay on the map until April 28 at 22:22 MHQ time for quadruple the holiday fun!

ZEEster Eggs

How do you like your eggs cooked? Scrambled? Over easy? With a side of points? (We’ll have the last option!) The ZEEster Eggs will introduce four new Munzee specials to the game, including the physical Blue Egg, Red Egg, and Yellow Egg, as well as the virtual White Egg. Worried about being able to cap one? All four Eggs can be magnetized. Be sure to pick up your Virtual Magnets and Physical Magnets from the Freeze Tag Online Store to increase your capping chances!

The ZEEster Egg specials will hit the map April 17 at midnight MHQ time and enjoy a comfortable run until April 28. In that time span, the Eggs will bounce around every 6 hours or when captured. There will be a set number of each Egg landing on the map, with 419 White Eggs, 140 of both Blue and Red eggs, and 139 Yellow Eggs.

The Eggs will not be blastable, but you CAN capture on your “owned” munzees or any previously capped munzee. You can access this special under the Premium “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters. The physical and virtual specials will land on greenies and all color virtuals, respectively.

Points

  • White Egg: split 60 points with a minimum of 15 for Capture and Host PLUS receive 1 PinPoint (What’s that?!)
  • Blue/Red/Yellow Egg: split 75 points with a minimum of 17 for Capture and Host PLUS receive 1 PinPoint
  • Hatched Eggs (all colors): Cap 100 points PLUS receive 5 PinPoints, No CapOn points

Hatched Eggs

Wait, did the points include Hatched Eggs?! We almost forgot to mention, there is a fair chance that capturing a ZEEster Egg will lead to a Scatter in the form of Hatched Eggs!

There is a chance upon capturing a physical Egg or a virtual Egg that a Hatched Egg will be caused to scatter. Capturing the White Egg has the possibility for a Hatched White Egg to scatter within 2,000 feet as a new virtual, similar to how the Feather Munzee works. Upon capturing one of the physical Eggs, the corresponding Red/Blue/Yellow Hatched Egg has the chance to scatter within 1,400 feet as a new virtual. The capture radius will be 300 feet for the Hatched Egg scatters. They will not be blastable OR have magnet attraction.

Points

  • Hatched Eggs (all colors): Cap 100 points PLUS receive 5 PinPoints, No CapOn points

Badges

That’s not all the fun to be had! In addition to our ZEEster Eggs and Hatched Eggs, there will also be a line of badges associated with the specials. Be sure to capture lots of different combinations of both Egg and Hatched Egg colors, because there are a total of five badges you can earn! Since we’re celebrating a holiday, we’ll give you a sneak peak of the first badge in the series below:

The ZEEster Bunny– Capture 1 ZEEster Egg Special of any kind.

Remember, April is all about fitness, so lace up your shoes and get out there for some hunting! Hopefully our latest specials will give you that extra initiative to get moving. Are you ready to have some early Easter fun?

Happy Hunting (and Happy Holidays!) and Munzee on!

P.S. Thanks to Robbie and the WallaBee team for sharing more amazing art and putting a Munzee spin on it for these specials!

Recycling Program Revamped with QRew and QRewzee Launches!

Article has been updated.

Many Munzee players are already familiar with ZeeQRew, an elite program that is composed of players who have shown a dedication to growing the game of Munzee. They also replace missing munzees in order to assist in gameplay upkeep. In line with our active initiative, we are excited to announce a new type of Munzee to replace the old recycling program, as well as a new team of helpful players. It’s time to welcome the launch of the QRewzee Munzee and the addition of the brand new QRew team to the game!

QRew

With the game growing every day, we decided that even a crew as talented as ZeeQRew could use some extra cleanup help. That’s where QRew comes into play, a brand new title and duty that some of you might have already seen assigned to your game profiles. This new group of players can be thought of as “ZeeQRew Jr.” It’s an introductory level for those of you that are still working to achieve full ZeeQRew status.

Just like ZeeQRew has its own list of requirements, there are specific requirements for joining QRew. In order to become a member of QRew, you have to be a Premium MemberThe additional requirements for making QRew are as follows:

  • Have at least 100 deploys of any type AND
  • Have at least 1,000 captures of any type AND
  • Have at least 1 cap and 1 deploy in the last 14 days

If you are one of the players who is currently eligible for QRew, you will notice a new title on your profile! Exactly like ZeeQRew, QRew status is earned or revoked at 00:01 MHQ time on the 1st and 15th of each month if requirements are met.

If the requirements are met on these dates, the player will earn or retain the ZeeQRew or QRew title. If the requirements are not met, the title will be removed from any current ZeeQRew or QRew players, BUT it may be re-earned at the next checkpoint. Keep in mind that since the QRew requirements are not as steep as ZeeQRew, it’s also possible for a player to grow from QRew to ZeeQRew. However, if you lose ZeeQRew you are nothing (but you have the chance to regain your status)!

The rewards for QRew are as follows:

  • QRew title in app & online
  • The ability to replace any physical Munzee, regardless of owner, using a generic sticker*

Although the title has already been awarded, the ability for QRew members to replace munzees will be available in a V4 app update coming very soon! There will be no badge, discount, or unique merchandise associated with QRew. Players must continue to grow and become ZeeQRew to earn added rewards. However, QRew isn’t the only update to the former Munzee recycling program…

QRewzee

Along with the launch of QRew, we are happy to announce a new type of munzee to replace the former Recycle Munzee. All QRew and ZeeQRew members will see this icon on the map for the following physical Munzee types which have had no activity on them in the last 365 days. These munzees include:

  • All Physical Jewels
  • Physical Clan Weapons
  • Greenies
  • Regular (Blue) Mysteries and Physical Elemental Mysteries including Fire, Earth, Water, and Ice
  • Premium Munzees
  • Seasonal
  • Shamrock
  • All RUMs including Treasure Chest evolution
  • Zodiac (original not including Chinese Zodiac)

The new icons will only appear on designated QRewsdays. Each month a schedule will be announced to designate when QRewsdays will occur, similar to how our monthly Flat Friends schedules work**. Capture of the QRewzee Munzee will award 100 points and the icon. There will be 10 CapOn points. You CAN capture a QRewzee Munzee on your own munzee or a previously captured munzee.

Points

  • Capture: 100 points
  • CapOn: 10 points

To see the QRewzee Munzees, look on the physical “Others” filter and the new QRewzee filter under premium options to “Only show these types.” Please note that players will only be able to specifically filter QRewzees in v4 of the Munzee app.

There will also be a line of hidden badges associated with capture of the QRewzee Munzees. The first in the series will appear as follows:

QRew Your Part!- Capture 1 QRewzee Munzee

Without the diligence of our elite group of players, Munzee wouldn’t be the same! Thanks to all ZeeQRew members for their past gameplay upkeep and hope the new QRewzee points will be an incentive to keep it up. We appreciate all players that take the time and opportunity to grow the map and make Munzee better for all! We are excited to launch QRew and see more players get involved in upkeep and maintenance!

Munzee on!

**April QRewsdays will be:

April 16 – 10:00 to April 18 – 23:59
April 21 – 00:01 to April 24 – 23:59
April 26 – 00:01 to April 29 – 23:59

April 10, 2019

Update! Swap-Ability Made Available for Certain Physicals!

Do you have an overwhelming amount of munzee credits? What if you had the ability to use a credit to “swap” or “replace from a distance” certain munzees? What if this was no longer a “what if” question, but a reality? Well, starting today at 15:00 MHQ time, you will indeed have the opportunity to swap a number of currently deployed physical munzees with a credit you already have!

Before we explain, let’s tell you WHY for those who don’t like to read to the bottom of blog posts! 😉

  • Refresh the physical map in any area you choose without needing to archive first and wait 7 days
  • Use credits you have accumulated but don’t have a good use for
  • Earn a new deploy for the day
  • Earn more captures from the locals in any area you refresh (there will be much rejoicing!)
  • Keep the CapOns flowing in places with large groups of regular players

And now the details for those who care to read on (we recommend you do). Any currently deployed physical munzee of the types below, that already contain a generic code, will now be swappable! There are two options for swapping a munzee: swapping like for like or choosing between a field of options. The ability has been indicated below. As always, you can shop for all of your Munzee needs at the Freeze Tag Online Store. Just remember that what’s in stock is constantly rotating, but to make things easy, you can access the available “Swap-Ability Collection” here!

Ability to Swap Like for Like:

  • Motel Munzee  (only able to swap a new Destination credit)
  • Hotel Munzee  (only able to swap a new Hotel credit)

This means that you are able to swap out any currently deployed physical Motel Munzee with a brand new Motel Munzee credit, or any currently deployed physical Hotel Munzee with a brand new Hotel Munzee credit. You can shop the Destination Munzee collection to pick up Motel and Hotel credits as needed.

Ability to Swap Within List:

This means that players can swap any currently deployed physical munzee on the list with any one of the physical munzee options on the list. For example, you can swap a currently deployed Briefcase Munzee with a new Scatter Munzee credit or any existing Jewel Munzee with any Clan Weapon Munzee credit. A mace for a diamond, an RPS becomes a premium, a ruby for a Hammer, etc.! The choice is yours!

How to Swap

This new feature for certain physical munzees is available online only. Only munzees with a generic code can be swapped. The first thing you will need to do to swap out physical munzees is to log into your munzee account.

One you’ve logged in, select the “Deployed” button/tab.

This will bring you to a list of all the munzees that you have deployed. Select which munzee you wish to swap out by clicking on the munzee name. Maybe even use the “filter by type” option to select a munzee type that qualifies for the swap.

Once you click on the munzee, you will be presented with the following options. In order to swap out your physical munzees, select the “Edit Munzee” option.

Under the section “Replace Missing Munzee,” you will notice a new option to “Swap Out Munzee.” Selecting this option will allow you to choose which type of munzee you will be swapping to.

You can then select which type of munzee you wish to swap for. The available options have been indicated earlier in this blog post. Keep in mind that Hotels and Motels can only be swapped like for like.

Be sure to verify which munzees you want to swap. Confirming the swap will archive the original munzee* and deploy a brand new munzee of the type you have selected. The new munzee will have the same name and notes so update those if necessary.

Why Swap?

Currently players are already able to make certain virtual swaps. Many virtual types can be swapped, with the exception of Resort Munzees, Virtual Emerald Munzees, Virtual Trail Munzees, Air Mystery Munzees, and Temporary Virtual Munzees. That means that the following virtual munzees can be swapped.

  • Amethyst Munzees
  • Sapphire Munzees
  • Virtual Munzees
  • Surprise Munzees
  • All Flats Munzees
  • Crossbow Munzees
  • Catapult Munzees
  • Night Vision Goggles Munzees

This brand new “swap-ability” feature for certain physicals allows players to do several things which we think:

  • Refresh the physical map in any area you choose without needing to archive first and wait 7 days
  • Use credits you have accumulated but don’t have a good use for
  • Earn a new deploy for the day
  • Earn more captures from the locals in any area you refresh (there will be much rejoicing!)
  • Keep the CapOns flowing in places with large groups of regular players

What do you think of this latest gameplay ability? Do you already have some munzee swaps in mind? Interested in an example from Rob’s account? You can see he updated the notes to remember the previous deploy.

Get creative, and Munzee on!

*Any munzee archived via the Swap feature will not lose points or deploy day credit (for streak purposes) UNLESS it has 0 caps.

Shine Bright With New Gleaming Pouch Creatures!

What could possibly be cuter than a Pouch Creature? No, the answer is not rhetorical! It’s a Gleaming Pouch Creature!

Since April Fools is well over, you can believe us when we say there is a fun surprise for the lucky few! That’s right, new colorations of all three stages of Tuli, Vesi, and Muru are currently bouncing around the map waiting to get capped. There’s a catch though, these shiny specials are a bit shy, so you won’t know they’re Gleaming until you cap them. Gleaming Pouch Creatures will appear NORMAL on the map like any other Pouch Creature. However, there is a chance that the Pouch Creature will reveal itself to be Gleaming upon being capped! To heighten your chances of finding a Gleaming Pouch Creature you’ll need to cap each of them you see just to be sure.

If the Pouch Creature is Gleaming, the new icon will show up in the captured pop-up message, and it will also show as a new type on your specials/achievements page. The Gleaming Pouch Creature will also award double the original points for Cap/Deploy/CapOn! That means there are double points possible to be earned on all three stages of Tuli, Vesi, and Muru!

Pouch Creatures can be a little shy, but luckily all three types (Muru, Tuli and Vesi) are attracted to physical Munzee Magnets as well! They will only be attracted as their Level 1 version though, so once they level up they won’t fall for any tricks! You can pick up Magnets in the Freeze Tag Online Store, along with Elemental Munzee blocks which will be on sale for $12 (originally $16) at 15:00 MHQ to help draw out more Pouch Creatures!

At 15:00 MHQ time today, we will be adding some Pouch Creatures back to the Freeze Tag Online Store if you’d like to pick one up to deploy. Per usual these are in limited stock, so if you don’t have one, today is a great day to get one! (It’s also the perfect time to pick up our last Blast From The Past personal tag.)

Meeting your April fitness goals will be easier than ever with the added incentive to chase each and every Pouch Creature that pops up in your area!

Happy Hunting, and Munzee on!
