Final Flamingo Blog!

As the year comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into January with your desired Flamingos! The skin for completing your December capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Gifting Garden Flamingo shown below, will be awarded in early January. But, we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next year!

December Flamingo Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Flamingo yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $1.

How to have a permanent Flamingo on your account next year:

  • Own at least 8 Flamingos by the end of the year
    • Each month, the price of a Flamingo will decrease by $1.
    • However, players can only purchase 1 Flamingo every 28 days.

Where to stock up on Flamingos if you missed out on earlier months:

  • Reseller Garden Flamingos include the base Flamingo AND the special Reseller skin — if you’re interested, you can check out our blog post on them HERE!

Permanent Flamingo Details

In January 2023, if you met the requirement to receive a permanent Garden Flamingo, you’ll see the new Garden Flamingo in your account, which behaves the same way as the original Garden Flamingo we released in January 2022.

Garden Flamingo

All temporary Flamingos deployed in 2022 will be archived before we start the process of adding the new permanent Flamingos to players’ accounts.

Badges

We’ve continued to add badges to the “Overall deploy” and “Overall capture” lines — both lines now have 6 badges each. We’ll keep the requirements a secret, but here are the first of the new badges:

We hope you are ready to put the New Year Garden Flamingo skin to good use!

The Mad Hatter Garden Gnome Has Arrived!

While brainstorming all the ways we could transform the Munzee map into Wonder11and, we thought it would be fun to bring back last year’s Garden Gnome for a short while. Naturally, we can’t let the March Hare Garden Flamingo celebrate its UnBirthday all by itself!

Mad Hatter Gnome Details

The Mad Hatter Garden Gnome is a temporary POB that will remain on the map for approximately 60 days after this launch — until some time on September 19 — when it will be automatically archived on your account. You may recall that this is similar to the Baby Animals we released in the past. However, after September 19, players with permanent Garden Gnomes can change the skin on the gnome to this one at any point — refer to our Help Guide article for the instructions!

If you’re interested in inviting one to your next tea party, you can do so HERE!

Some Garden Gnomes are Going Gnomewhere!

After releasing the details for the eSports Gnome skin and experimenting with Halloween skins for Myths, we decided it would be a waste if Garden Gnomes disappeared completely from the map. Not to mention all the effort we put into creating them, and all the effort you put into keeping up your streak every day to earn them!

However, we’d still like to make room for new tPOBs we’re planning for next year. That, combined with the unique pricing of Garden Gnomes made it tricky for us to determine how many should stay, and what would be fair to players who have been collecting them. Ultimately, we’ve decided that players who own at least 8 Garden Gnomes (the actual gnomes, not the skins) will have 1 permanent Garden Gnome to keep.

If you meet this requirement by 23:59 MHQ on December 31st, the permanent Garden Gnome will be auto-deployed on your account some time on January 1st, and will retain the ability to switch between earned skins at any time. You may find that the process of making it a permanent POB has changed the base gnome’s appearance, though you’ll be able to access the original Garden Gnome as a skin and switch to it as well.

One More Skin!

Due to this change, we decided to create 1 more Garden Gnome skin, which you can earn by keeping up your capture streak in December. When the permanent Garden Gnomes are auto-deployed, they will come with this new skin, along with the skins you previously earned.

This also means that next year’s Monthly tPOB will not come with an extra skin in January (à la the Ice Hockey Gnome), and just be sold as the base version of that tPOB. Then, if you keep up your capture streak in January, you will receive a skin in February as usual.

Need more Garden Gnomes?

As mentioned in our monthly Garden Gnome posts, the gnomes can be purchased from the Freeze Tag Store once every 28 days, so we hope that if you’re close to that number and are interested in having a permanent Garden Gnome, this gives you enough time to pick one up. Since we’ve been reducing the price by a dollar each month, currently a Garden Gnome only costs $2! If you need a few more, don’t forget that our Authorized Resellers also have Garden Gnomes in stock, if you haven’t bought them already (each Reseller Gnome is limited to 1 per player).

Otherwise, don’t feel too bad if you won’t have a Garden Gnome to keep — next year’s Monthly tPOB is still in the works, and promises to have an equally fun theme, which we’ll announce once we have more details solidified!

P.S. What do you think next year’s Monthly tPOB will be?
