Salty Dog Specials!

Arghhh…arf? Ahoy there, scally-wags! We have a question… what’s better than dogs? PIRATE DOGS! Set sail with our NEW Salty Dog specials! You’ll encounter all kinds of piratey pooches, can you bark-lieve it? Starting NOW, you can try your luck at following these dastardly dogs to treasure until September 24, 2023 at 23:59 MHQ.

Two different Base specials will bounce around the map, the physical Mutt Map and the virtual Chewy Compass, as seen above.

Salty Dog Specials

These seafaring specials will will be released in waves, but will end at a total of 1500 Mutt Maps and 1500 Chewy Compasses. They will bounce around on the map every 3 hours or when captured. Capture either to start a scatter trail! The first scatter is guaranteed, then the rest only have a chance to scatter from the previous one. You must capture all 7 Salty Dog scatters to find the buried treasure!

Both of the Salty Dog specials will be worth 150 points for the Capture and 50 points for the CapOn, so you don’t want to miss out! Mutt Map will be attracted to Physical Magnets, while Chewy Compass will be attracted to Virtual Magnets. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

One you cap either Salty Dog special, you will follow the trail of Salty Dog scatters and capture each member of Captain BarkBeard’s crew to find treasure beyond yer wildest dreams! Legend tells of a Crossbones treasure chest, filled with Zeds for whoever opens it! The first pooch you can find is the lovable Cabin Good Boy, check him out above, but who knows what other scally-waggers ye’ll find along the trail!?

And be on the look out… all of these pirate pooches have a chance of scattering their messy friend, the Dirty Dog! He may be a little stinky, but he does have the chance of awarding you one Rover Treat – so don’t throw him in the pound just yet!

We’ve created 6 NEW Badges for you to earn via specific gameplay actions! We’ll show you the first badge and keep the rest a secret. It’s up to you to figure out the requirements for the other badges – good luck!

Ahoy there Flat RUM Scatters!

Yo ho, yo ho – a pirate’s life for me! Now, pirates may be known to be quite devious – but they had one thing going for them, their love of RUM! And, coincidentally National Rum Day is today, August 16, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to celebrate our beloved Resellers with some Flat RUM Scatters! Starting NOW until Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 23:59 MHQ, Flat RUMs will temporarily scatter 1-3 Pirate Wares!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Wednesday, August 16 at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, August 27th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture Flat RUMS, up to 3 Pirate Wares may be scattered nearby!

And as for any good Treasure Chest, the Two Dimensional Treasure has a chance of rewarding you with Zeds! Shiver me timbers!

The Pirate Wares Flat scatters will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat RUM owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These Virtual scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for the Pirate Wares are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 25 points

Munzee Update Announcement

UPDATE – AUGUST 12, 2023: If you are having problems receiving your password reset email – please try again – and check for an email from “noreply@munzee.com” as well as your spam / junk folder.

Since some players are still having difficulties logging in we have made the decision to make both August 12th and 13th blackout days for gameplay streaks as well. We’re aware of issues this may cause for Clan Wars so we will make an announcement regarding requirements next week as well. 

First off, we want to say a huge thank you for your patience and understanding during the last few days! Our team has been working nonstop to make sure the backend update is ready to go. We’ve completed our testing behind closed doors and have begun turning all components of the game back on. 

As a reminder you MUST reset your password and login using your email moving forward. All players need to delete the current version of the app and install the new update (Version 4.1.183) from the app store. It may take some time for the new update to appear in the app stores, so please check back later if you don’t see it yet.
* Event hosts, an email will be sent to you with information about your event account login.

There may be problems that we need help identifying, and we’ll be working on tackling any high priority issues that pop up today. We will give an all clear in a few hours so all players will know we are confident full gameplay may continue.

There are a few known issues that we will need to circle back to, but we don’t think these will interrupt the majority of gameplay. 

  • Emails for nearby deploys, summary activity, etc. may be delayed.
  • Third-party fitness vendors like Fitbit and Garmin may still need some updates.

As a reminder due to the ongoing update we have made August 9th, 10th, and 11th blackout days for gameplay streaks. We are also aware of certain temporary destinations that were affected by the delays so we have made the following decisions in regards to Dice Towers:

  • All dice towers active before and during maintenance have been archived
  • All players with an active Dice Tower going into the maintenance time have received a new Dice Tower

Once again, thank you for your continued support and understanding during this update!

Flat Disc Scatters are BACK With a NEW Badge!

National Disc Golf Day is coming up this Saturday, so you know what that means… Flat Disc Scatters are BACK! Cap Robbie’s Flat Disc Golf Basket and watch the discs fly! Keep reading for more details!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Friday, August 4th at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, August 13th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat Disc Golf Basket, up to 3 Discs may be scattered nearby!

The Discs will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat Disc Golf Basket owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These disc scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

Road Warriors Road Trip!

After a sneak peek in Florida this weekend, you may have noticed some new Flat Vans driving around! As you’ve probably guessed, these are Dale and Barb’s new Flat Object Munzees, and we’ve got the details for them below!

In addition, we’ve got some exciting news for Dale and Barb fans — they’ll be making a huge Road Trip around the states, covering territory they don’t usually get to visit! As this is such a special occasion, we’ve created new permanent physical munzees for them to deploy along the way and commemorate their trip — read on to learn more!

Flat Van Details

The eighth Flat Object is brought to you by Dale and Barb, our Roadwarriors! They are great ambassadors of our app, keeping in touch with players along the Space Coast and many more areas! If you’ve attended any of the Munzee Events they’ve hosted in the past, you’ve probably already met them, but for those who haven’t been fortunate enough to get to know them, or would like a refresher, you can check out their most recent Meet Munzee Munzday / Team Munzee Tuezday posts HERE and HERE!

Road Warriors 2022 Munzees

As Dale and Barb make their way around the U.S.A. in their not-flat van, they’ll be deploying physicals along their Road Trip route. However, they won’t be deploying on their personal accounts (SpaceCoastGeoStore and DalenBarb) — instead, they’ll be using the Roadwarriors Munzee account, which has the ability to convert greenies to the colorful icon pictured below! If you’ve been Munzee-ing for a while, you’ll find that they are similar to the InternationElles, Whomp Canada, and Wayward Nation munzees.

Flat Day The 13th Part 5: Unlucky Objects

You guessed it! There’s only 1 Friday the 13th this year, so we wanted to make sure this one was extra-special. Continuing our tradition of themed specials, this year we’ve got some Unlucky Objects for you to collect! Please note that as they are MOBs, caps of them will not count towards any Flat requirements in Clan Wars or ZeeOps, though they do look similar to our Flat Objects. On top of that, we’ve got some limited-time and not-so-limited-time badges to earn, a sale, and DOUBLE POINTS on certain types, so make sure to read all the details below!

Unlucky Object Specials

From the period of Friday, May 13th at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, May 29th at 23:59 MHQ, Unlucky Object Specials will bounce around on the map! We’ll be releasing the Objects in waves, but will end at 313 of each Object, for a total of 2191 Specials. They will bounce around every 4 hours or when capped.

These specials will be available for multi-capture. They will be attracted to magnets, available from the Freeze Tag Online Store. You can access the Unlucky Object specials under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Specials” filters.

Badges

We’ve created 10 NEW Badges for you to earn via specific gameplay actions! As four of them are time-sensitive, here are the details for those first:

  • The 4 time-sensitive badges will only be available for the same time period as the Unlucky Objects are bouncing around on the map.
    • 2 of the badges are based on the total number of Unlucky Objects capped. You can see what the first badge in the line looks like below.
    • 1 of the badges is based on capping one of each of the Unlucky Objects, so make sure to cap as many as you can!
    • The final badge has very special requirements which we’ll keep a secret for now… think you can figure it out?

Need MORE Pets? Mari’s Flat Object is Actually 2-in-1!

You didn’t really think we’d celebrate National Pet Day with just Pet Rocks, did you? If so — consider it a late April Fool’s prank! With so many loveable pets out there, we knew we had to include a crowd-pleasing, cute, and cuddly animal in the festivities. We got more than we bargained for, as you’ll see — one became two!

The seventh Flat Object is brought to you by Mari, our productive Product Manager! She is the one who keeps MHQ running like a well-oiled machine! Thanks to her diligence in planning things well in advance, we’ve managed to meet a lot of our goals on schedule, rather than 1,000 hours each time! If you’ve attended any of the Munzee Events we’ve hosted in the past, you may have met Mari, but for those who haven’t been fortunate enough to get to know her, or would like a refresher, you can check out her most recent Meet Munzee Munzday post HERE!

Mari’s Flat Object is similar to Wylie’s in that it may be more accurately described as Flat Pets — but as it follows the same structure as other Flat Objects, we’ll still call it one for consistency. Stake Your Claim on the Map With This NEW Flat Object!

It’s been a little over 2 weeks since Munzee Madness 11, and though it was still a multi-stage event, it feels like it ended so quickly. We really missed attending events in-person and seeing players we’ve known for years, along with some new faces! As its first event was in 2012, Munzee Madness is the longest-running annual event hosted by players. It was originated by one of our Resellers, 1849, who owns Gold’n Coins! This quick history lesson is just one example of Resellers helping to maintain and grow the Munzee community — so in honor of ALL our Resellers, we’ve created a NEW game piece just for them!

The sixth Flat Object is a little different from the previous objects, as it was not designed by one specific team member — instead, we’ve developed it to represent our Resellers! As Munzee is a global game, we appreciate that our Resellers make it easier for local players to get their hands on Munzee stickers and other physical items. On top of that, as mentioned above, they are often a huge part of maintaining and growing the local Munzee community.

This Flat (and the badges associated with them) will be continuing the pirate theme we’ve established for our Resellers. Read on to learn more!

ZEE-Dayz Coming Soon!

Similar to last week’s MunzPak ZEE-Dayz, expect a ZEE-Dayz event for non-trial Premium Members kicking off Thursday at 00:01 MHQ! Flat Munzees will see double their normal point values!

Are You an Animal Lover? Then You’ll Love Wylie’s Flat Object!

Now that we’re well into 2022, it’s just about time to release our first Flat Object of the year! With National Love Your Pet Day and National Walking the Dog Day coming up, it seemed like the perfect time for this next game piece to come into the spotlight. Expect to see lots of Munzee Merch in the store based on its design in the coming weeks!

The fifth Flat Object is brought to you by Wylie, our powerhouse Production Specialist! If you ever ordered physical products from the Freeze Tag Store, she has been involved in every step of the process in bringing that product to you! From designing to manufacturing to shipping, she can do it all! Put Pen to Paper — or Rather, Fingers to Keys — With Craig’s Flat Object!

At MHQ, we like to keep our players on their toes. We had quite a gap between the Flat Disc Golf Basket and the Flat Flashlight, and now, just over a month later, another new Flat Object?! Well, this month is National Novel Writing Month, aka NaNoWriMo, so we couldn’t pass up this opportunity, as you’ll see! The rest of the MHQ staff has been using their spare moments thoughtfully designing their own Flat Object, so we hope you keep an eye out for them as they are released!

The fourth Flat Object is brought to you by Craig, the CEO! Don’t be intimidated by his title — Craig is one of the more outgoing members of the team who enjoys chatting with players at Munzee Events and learning what makes them tick (not that the rest of us don’t enjoy it — it just seems to come naturally to Craig, without any shyness or awkwardness). For those who haven’t been fortunate enough to get to know him, or would like a refresher, you can check out his most recent Meet Munzee Munzday post HERE!

In his spare time, Craig turns to writing to give his creative juices an outlet. Did you know that he’s written plays that have been produced by theater companies?!
