Need MORE Pets? Mari’s Flat Object is Actually 2-in-1!

You didn’t really think we’d celebrate National Pet Day with just Pet Rocks, did you? If so — consider it a late April Fool’s prank! With so many loveable pets out there, we knew we had to include a crowd-pleasing, cute, and cuddly animal in the festivities. We got more than we bargained for, as you’ll see — one became two!

The seventh Flat Object is brought to you by Mari, our productive Product Manager! She is the one who keeps MHQ running like a well-oiled machine! Thanks to her diligence in planning things well in advance, we’ve managed to meet a lot of our goals on schedule, rather than 1,000 hours each time! If you’ve attended any of the Munzee Events we’ve hosted in the past, you may have met Mari, but for those who haven’t been fortunate enough to get to know her, or would like a refresher, you can check out her most recent Meet Munzee Munzday post HERE!

Mari’s Flat Object is similar to Wylie’s in that it may be more accurately described as Flat Pets — but as it follows the same structure as other Flat Objects, we’ll still call it one for consistency. Say hello to the Flat Cats, based on her cats Benji and Burr! Benji is the orange one and Burr is the black one – they are brothers and the bestest friends in the whole world! ? They are the stars of many a Zoom call (and possibly the only things keeping Mari from going insane while stuck at home — call it the opposite of the crazy cat lady effect)! Read on to learn more!

Stake Your Claim on the Map With This NEW Flat Object!

It’s been a little over 2 weeks since Munzee Madness 11, and though it was still a multi-stage event, it feels like it ended so quickly. We really missed attending events in-person and seeing players we’ve known for years, along with some new faces! As its first event was in 2012, Munzee Madness is the longest-running annual event hosted by players. It was originated by one of our Resellers, 1849, who owns Gold’n Coins! This quick history lesson is just one example of Resellers helping to maintain and grow the Munzee community — so in honor of ALL our Resellers, we’ve created a NEW game piece just for them!

The sixth Flat Object is a little different from the previous objects, as it was not designed by one specific team member — instead, we’ve developed it to represent our Resellers! As Munzee is a global game, we appreciate that our Resellers make it easier for local players to get their hands on Munzee stickers and other physical items. On top of that, as mentioned above, they are often a huge part of maintaining and growing the local Munzee community.

This Flat (and the badges associated with them) will be continuing the pirate theme we’ve established for our Resellers. Read on to learn more!

ZEE-Dayz Coming Soon!

Similar to last week’s MunzPak ZEE-Dayz, expect a ZEE-Dayz event for non-trial Premium Members kicking off Thursday at 00:01 MHQ! Flat Munzees will see double their normal point values!

Are You an Animal Lover? Then You’ll Love Wylie’s Flat Object!

Now that we’re well into 2022, it’s just about time to release our first Flat Object of the year! With National Love Your Pet Day and National Walking the Dog Day coming up, it seemed like the perfect time for this next game piece to come into the spotlight. Expect to see lots of Munzee Merch in the store based on its design in the coming weeks!

The fifth Flat Object is brought to you by Wylie, our powerhouse Production Specialist! If you ever ordered physical products from the Freeze Tag Store, she has been involved in every step of the process in bringing that product to you! From designing to manufacturing to shipping, she can do it all! Pizza My Heart Specials for Food Lovers Everywhere!

While the V-Mailbox is sure to excite and amuse once it kicks off on Valentine’s Day, we wanted to give everyone something to chew on until then. Since today is National Pizza Day, creating specials celebrating one of our beloved foods was a no-brainer!

Pizza My Heart specials are now live on the map for everyone and will remain available until March 6 at 23:59 MHQ. You can use the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters to more easily view them on the map. There are quite a few different specials, so check out a breakdown of each below!

Pizza My Heart Specials

These specials will be released in waves, ending at a total of 1,229 Pizza My Heart Specials available for capture on the map — that breaks down to 100 of each ingredient except for Pepperoni, of which there are only 29. Since Pepperoni were so popular in our latest React Poll, the demand means there’s less to go around. Pizza My Heart Specials are attracted to either Physical or Virtual Magnets depending on their type. None of these specials are blastable.

Badges

There are two lines of badges related to Pizza My Heart specials.

The first line is based on overall Pizza My Heart captures. These badges will give you all of the tools you need to run a successful pizzeria! The first badge in this line depicts a pizza box earned by capping any ingredient!

The second line of badges is based on capping different combinations of Pizza My Heart specials, similar to last year’s World Sushi Day specials. Make sure to cap at least one of each special so you can try each type of pizza!

National Hat Day Specials + a Cap-tivating ZEE-Dayz!

We had a mini ZEE-Dayz at the start of the month to tide everyone over as we caught up on e-mails and other tasks coming back from the holidays — but we also prepped a full-sized ZEE-Dayz to go along with some new MOBs! Read on for everything you need to know!

National Hat Day Specials

Since it’s National Hat Day tomorrow, starting at 12:00 MHQ today, Hats will bounce around the map until 23:59 MHQ on February 6th.

The various hat styles will be released in waves, but will end at a total of 100 each. In addition, more hats will appear as the month goes on, so make sure to keep an eye out! They will bounce around on the map every 4 hours or when captured. You can find National Hat Day specials at the following munzees near you:

Points

  • Capture: 150 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

National Hat Day specials will be attracted to Magnets. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Friday, January 14th at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, January 16th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat Rob OR Fancy Flat Rob, up to 3 Flat Hats may be scattered nearby!

The Flat Hats will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat Rob or Fancy Flat Rob owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These flat hat scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Flat Hats are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 25 points

Flat Rob Discount!

Need more Flat Robs near you? We’ve got a “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” discount at the Freeze Tag Store! You must add 3 Flat Robs to your cart to use it, and are limited to 2 uses per order (in other words — put 6 in the cart, pay for 4, 2 are free).

There is NO CODE required — the discount should apply automatically! It will be valid for the same time period as the scatters mentioned above.

Double Points Details

From the period of Friday, January 14th at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, January 16th at 23:59 MHQ (same period as Flat Hat scatters), enjoy double points on ALL Gnome Hats!

Please note that the image above shows most, but not all of the Gnome Hats — it is just for illustrative purposes, so even if a Gnome Hat is not in the image, it should still be worth double points during the period stated above.

Badges

There will be four badges to earn for National Hat Day specials. Three of them will require you to capture a certain number of these specials. The final badge requires you to capture each of the Hats that are released! You can see the first badge below.

As for Flat Rob and Fancy Flat Rob scatters, there are two badges to earn during the period stated above. Make sure you cap as many Flat Hats as you can to receive both badges shown below!

It’s up to you to find the hats for the remaining 3 badges! Cap as many of these specials as you can to set yourself up for success!

Put Pen to Paper — or Rather, Fingers to Keys — With Craig’s Flat Object!

At MHQ, we like to keep our players on their toes. We had quite a gap between the Flat Disc Golf Basket and the Flat Flashlight, and now, just over a month later, another new Flat Object?! Well, this month is National Novel Writing Month, aka NaNoWriMo, so we couldn’t pass up this opportunity, as you’ll see! The rest of the MHQ staff has been using their spare moments thoughtfully designing their own Flat Object, so we hope you keep an eye out for them as they are released!

The fourth Flat Object is brought to you by Craig, the CEO! Don’t be intimidated by his title — Craig is one of the more outgoing members of the team who enjoys chatting with players at Munzee Events and learning what makes them tick (not that the rest of us don’t enjoy it — it just seems to come naturally to Craig, without any shyness or awkwardness). For those who haven’t been fortunate enough to get to know him, or would like a refresher, you can check out his most recent Meet Munzee Munzday post HERE!

In his spare time, Craig turns to writing to give his creative juices an outlet. Did you know that he’s written plays that have been produced by theater companies?! Are You Afraid of the Dark? Fight Back With Tamara’s Flat Object!

Time flies when you’re having fun! We’ve certainly enjoyed playing with Robbie’s Flat Disc Golf Basket — it had its own special, limited-time scatters, and was also part of the most recent Flat Day the 13th! Can you believe it was released all the way back in April?! The rest of the MHQ staff has been using their spare moments thoughtfully designing their own Flat Object, so we hope you keep an eye out for them as they are released!

The third Flat Object is brought to you by Tamara, a Product Manager in training! Many of you may not know Tamara as a lot of the things she does is behind-the-scenes — but for the past few years, you’ve all been reading her writing! For those who haven’t been fortunate enough to get to know her, or would like a refresher, you can check out her most recent Meet Munzee Munzday post HERE!

Tamara’s Flat Object features a humble tool you probably have in your home. As a fan of the mystery and horror genres, she’s created a Flat Flashlight game piece that should keep you well-equipped for the upcoming spooky season. Read on to learn more!

Flat Day The 13th Part 4: Left 4 Zeds

Last week was pretty wholesome with #NationalDiscGolfDay celebrations, so we bet you didn’t expect something on the opposite end of the spectrum so soon! This year for Flat Day the 13th, things are a little different as we’re introducing a permanent game piece instead of a bouncing special, so make sure to read all the details below!

NEW Nomad!

13 NEW Jason 4Zees Nomads have been unleashed on the map. Unlike other nomads, they will bounce every 6 hours or when captured.

Landing Pads:

  • All non-bouncing Flat Munzees:
    • Flat Friends:
      • Flat Rob
      • Flat Matt
      • Flat Lou
      • Flat Hammock
    • Flat Objects:
      • Flat DHS
      • Flat Disc Golf Basket

Points:

  • Capture: 513
  • CapOn (for host owner): 250

Additionally, the Jason 4Zees Nomads will scatter up to 3 NEW Killer Masks nearby when it is captured!

The Killer Mask will only be visible to the player who captured the Jason 4Zees Nomad and will scatter like Feathers! This means there are no CapOn points but you have thrilling results at stake:

  • Bad Result: lose 13 points
  • Good Result: 31 points and 13 Zeds

They’ll stay on the map for 2 hours after scattering. The capture radius is 300 feet for these. You won’t be able to use Rover Treats to capture them — Rover knows when he’s outmatched.

There will be 1 badge for unmasking Jason 4Zees. Since there’s only the 1 badge in this line, we want to keep it a secret for now. Jason 4Zees captures will also count toward the Nomad Munzee Badge Line.

Limited Edition Badges

Other than the badge specifically for Jason 4Zees mentioned above, which will always be attainable as Nomads are permanent game pieces, there are 3 badges that will only be available from Thursday, August 12th at 12:00 MHQ through Monday, August 16th at 12:00 MHQ.

A Virtual Nomad to Carry Your Bags!

After much code wrangling, we are happy to announce the release of new Virtual Bellhop Nomads! Similar to the Jewel Thief and Warrior Nomads, the original Bellhop Nomads were only bouncing to the physical types of their corresponding landing pad categories.

10 NEW Virtual Bellhop Nomads have been unleashed on the map. To keep the total number of each type at 20, this means that 10 of the original Virtual Bellhop Nomads will be removed. Like other nomads, they will bounce every 12 hours or when captured.

These captures will also count toward the Nomad Munzee Badge Line.

  • Capture: 500
  • CapOn (for host owner): 250

Better your chances at capping a Virtual Bellhop Nomad by deploying a Virtual Destination Munzee near you! Please note that Skylands are not included in its list of landing pads. If you don’t already have any Virtual Destination Munzees in your inventory, you can shop the collection at the Freeze Tag Store, or perhaps make a trade with other players who have them stocked up!

Play a Round of Disc Golf With Robbie’s Flat Object!

In February, we introduced the first Flat Object, the Flat DHS! We loved the fun personal touch Dylan gave to his namesake game piece, and when it comes to creativity, Dylan is a hard act to follow. The rest of the MHQ staff has been using their spare moments thoughtfully designing their own Flat Object, so we hope you keep an eye out for them as they are released!

The second Flat Object is brought to you by Robbie, our indispensable Project Manager! If you’re a WallaBee player, Robbie is certainly a familiar face, but lately Robbie’s also been deeply involved in Munzee as well!
