Featured Munzee Toolkit: Logan Haberer (Fireplz3)

One of the best parts about Munzee is that you can play how you want. Everyone goes about playing a bit differently, and that leads to some very creative and innovative uses of objects. From containers to bags to maintenance, we always encounter something new when we meet players. We want to showcase your Munzee Toolkits to see how you play the game and possibly even inspire other players who may need help. This week’s featured Munzee Toolkit comes from Logan Haberer (Fireplz3).

Who are you?
Hello, Munzee. My name is Logan Haberer from Ozark, Arkansas, and my username is Fireplz3.

What’s in your toolkit?

My toolkit includes:

  • Tree and trail tags
  • A Pelican 1040 to store my extra munzees
  • An umbra case to protect the munzees I carry
  • A Leatherman
  • A headlamp
  • A battery backup

If you have a Munzee Toolkit that you’d like to show off, you can email us at [email protected] with the subject “Munzee Toolkit”. Make sure to include:

  • A few high quality photos.
  • A list of what each item is and how you use it.

What’s in your Munzee Toolkit?

We have 3 players in our house.

First, we have our organizers (small tackleboxes) for our munzees. We have our name on the outside of each box and then G (greenies) or S (special) on each compartment,

Next, we have what is actually a nail care kit that comes in handy for repairing munzees. I’ve actually saved a few that were painted over with this.

Then, we have out flashlight for finding the non-glow-in-the-dark munzees at night.

And finally, we have out bag. It fits all of our organizers, flashlight, and nail kit. It has a net pocket on the side that we put the the sticker backs in. It also has a pocket for my keys so I don’t have to keep track of them while out capping and deploying.

If you have a Munzee Toolkit that you’d like to show off, you can email us at [email protected] with the subject “Munzee Toolkit”. Make sure to include:

Player of the Week: Deb Carter (Debolicious)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Deb Carter (Debolicious).

Who are you?
Hi, my name is Deb, and my player name is Debolicious. I’m a truck driver, and I am Munzee crazy. My long-suffering husband and I travel around Australia, so Munzee is the best for finding new places and exploring. I would have never seen the things I’ve seen if it wasn’t for #Munzee.

Where in the world do you live?
I live in Mackay. It’s in the beautiful tropical north of Queensland, Australia. I have only just returned from 3 years away, and I am trying my best to get more players. I am growing the map here quite quickly.

How long have you played Munzee?
I have been playing for about 3 years.

How did you find Munzee?
My best friend of 35 years Jody (nomadicjp) got me into it when Nicki (nicdchick), a lay she worked with, showed it to her. At the time, I was living in Mackay. I then moved to Perth, Western Australia and got to meet Nicki. I am now very good friends with her and a lot of Perth Munzee people. I got crazy about Munzee in Perth. That is where I learned a lot about Munzee, including the rules. Who would have thought there was a code of conduct?

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
Being outside. I love trails in the bush the most, but sadly, I have found that most players are after quick points and tend to just UTL the well hidden ones. I love how Munzee takes you places that you would never have found it it wasn’t for the game. Now, i try to deploy in areas that I find enjoyable, places where visitors would like to see, and especially hidden spots that the average traveler would not generally find.

What is on your wish list?
I wish not to live in a places that had very few munzees and not many players (told you I am Munzee crazy). I also wish the most for an easy way to get the word out to new players in my area. Because Munzee is a business, I am finding it hard to get people to help me advertise it. I would also love for MHQ to create an all use flyer we could print off that would have all the details about the game on it since some of us don’t know how to use Photoshop. Maybe even a Zombie evolution series.

Tell us about yourself!
I would have to say the most exciting thing about my life are my awesome friends whom spoil me to no end. The highlight of my life was not only meeting Rob and Louise in real life but having some of my friends surprise me at the recent Australia Day event in Melbourne. I would like to think I’m pretty awesome, and my theory is I have lots of awesome people in my life, so if like attracts like, I too my be pretty dang awesome. 🙂

Other hobbies include:
Munzee, Munzee, Munzee. I used to dabble in photography, but now all of my time goes to Munzee and #GrowTheMap. I do love a good hike, and if I’m hiking, I;m usually struggling to breathe, so I don’t munzee on those trips. Ha ha. My other interests I guess are trying to be healthy and living a good, clean life. I have recently discovered I love cycling. Did I mention Munzee?

Any last words?
A shout out to my Munzee faves Brenda (Bewrightback), Julie (julesbeus), and Nicki (nicdchick). All from Perth and all whom I miss dearly living on the wrong side of the country. I’m pretty sure these are the ladies who nominated me. I am so super excited to be nominated and have a title. Thank you so very much, Munzeeland. I don’t know what I would be doing without you. xx #E1EW

PS: A link to my garden if you would like to throw a Virtual at me 🙂

The Blog is Back and Has a Guest

First off, we want to thank you for your patience over the past few days. Scott and Daniel, along with our AWS partner, have been working nonstop to get everything back up and running properly.

As you can imagine, Rob is a bit worn out after this week and is ready for a break. He can’t just step away, though, so he’s leaving Flat Rob to look over the map. Starting tomorrow (March 3rd) at 00:01 MHQ time, Flat Robs will be on the map. This will last through Sunday, March 5th, at 23:59 MHQ time.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE.

Flat Rob didn’t want to leave the map, so we bargained with him. Flat Robs will be on the map the following two weekends as well. They will appear from:

  • March 9th at 00:01 MHQ time through March 12th at 23:59 MHQ time
  • March 17th at 15:00 MHQ time through March 19th at 23:59 MHQ time

Since the blog has been down we’ve had some new things released so for information check out the following blogs;

Thanks again for your support and for sticking with us. We know this ordeal has been a bit painful, but it has all been minor growing pains to help the games and platforms.

Introducing the Bellhop Nomad!

While you’ve all been busy capturing the treacherous Jewel Thief on precious stones all month, a new stealthy fella is roaming the halls of Hotels and Motels worldwide. He claims he’s just here to help you with your bags though, so be sure to leave a tip for the new Bellhop Nomad Munzee!

10 Bellhop Nomads are now bouncing on Motel and Hotel Munzees every 12 hours or until captured. Note that the Bellhop only bounces to physical Destination Munzees though, so it will not fall on Virtual Resort Munzees.

These nomads will count toward the new Nomad Badges that were recently released as well.

Points:
Capture – 100
CapOn (for host) – 20

Since capping a Motel/Hotel usually means multiple caps and also a deploy if there are rooms left, we figured we’d go ahead and answer a few questions that might pop up:

1) What happens if I cap a Bellhop Nomad on an already capped Motel/Hotel?
You will get the points for the Bellhop Nomad, but you won’t get caps for the rooms again.

2) What happens if I cap a Bellhop Nomad on a not yet capped Motel/Hotel?
You’ll cap the Motel/Hotel as a nomad and additionally cap the rooms like you would have normally.

3) What if there are rooms available?
You’ll deploy a room like normal, as long as you do not already have a room since this would be case 1.
