May was all about scavenger hunts and going places! For the hunt concept, we didn’t want to limit the fun only to Munzee — but to incorporate our other top apps, WallaBee and Eventzee, we had to get a little creative. To ease into it, we started the month with Lost Sock MOBs, which we felt portrayed the basic idea of a scavenger hunt. Towards the middle of the month, we followed up with a treasure hunt concept by making our first foray into NFTs with WallaBee. Now, towards the end of the month, we’ve created an actual scavenger hunt with the twist of featuring the other two games in Eventzee.
As for going places, we were excited to announce the ability to renovate Virtual Resorts, upcoming 10th Birthday event packages, 2 NEW Places Munzees, and an “Oh, ZEE Places You’ll Go”-themed ZEE-Dayz!
We are now happy to announce the winners of the May Gardens of the Month (GOTM)! The badges will be awarded in early June, but we couldn’t wait to share the winners we’ve chosen!
The gardens we’ve chosen as this month’s winners do not fit the hunt or travel themes mentioned above — rather, they call to mind the more subtle updates to Rover (here and here) and the Baby Panda that was released just last Friday. How? They also feature cute animals! Remember that all winning GOTM organizers and all players who deployed in the winning gardens will be awarded special badges for their contribution to growing the map. This month we’re happy to award the Masquerade Hare Garden, designed by purplecourgette, and the Fasanerie Darmstadt 🦊🦉🦌 Garden, designed by stineB and GeoHubi as our winning May GOTM! The gardens appear as follows:
Masquerade Hare by purplecourgette in Bedford, UK
Here are purplecourgette’s notes on the garden’s design:
This Munzee garden is to celebrate ‘Masquerade’. Which is based upon a treasure hunt that started in the 1970’s, a book gave clues to the location of a jeweled golden hare, created and hidden somewhere in the UK. The jeweled golden hare was hidden in Ampthill Great Park in the shadow of St Catherine of Aragon’s Cross.
Ampthill Park is a beautiful place to visit and has typical English countryside all around (https://www.greensandtrust.org/ampthill-park). It is full of history (as well as the hand-cappable Munzee garden!) For example it is the site of Ampthill Castle where Henry VIII stayed with one of his six wives – Katherine of Aragon.
Fasanerie Darmstadt 🦊🦉🦌 by stineB and GeoHubi in Darmstadt, Germany
Here are stineB’s notes on the garden’s design:
The “Fasanerie Garden” is our third garden in the City of Darmstadt. For us it is important that the design of the garden relates to the location. The Fasanerie (pheasantry) is a wooded area on the eastern outskirts of the city of Darmstadt. Many native animals live there (e.g. deer, foxes, rabbits, owls and other birds). A few hundred years ago the Fasanerie pheasantry was created as a hunting ground for the nobility. But now the animals can live there in peace. This was the reason, we chose the design with the tree and the animals. In addition we love the cute temp. “Baby Animals” bouncers 🙂
All players who deployed in the respective winning gardens will receive the following special badges:
Rules for GOTM nominations:
- Garden must feature non-licensed character designs.
- The garden must feature a Garden Places Pin.
- The garden must be built using a publicly available spreadsheet which we will ask to be locked after being 100% deployed.
- We’re asking for ongoing nominations and we will release the winners throughout the year.
Based on your feedback, we’ve created a Google Form where you can submit GOTM nominations — here’s the link: https://forms.gle/SjUQeRxdi5FT81pCA
We’ll still check the firstname.lastname@example.org inbox for stragglers, but please try to send your submissions to this new Google Form instead. Keep in mind that we take all former nominations into consideration for upcoming months. Just be sure your garden follows the nomination rules in order to be considered eligible!
If you need help deploying in a Virtual Garden, you can check out this step-by-step tutorial that will making deploying in a garden easy no matter how long you’ve been playing. To fill in the gardens, make sure to stock up on Virtuals and Color Credits from the Freeze Tag Online Store.
P.S. Are you looking for POTM requirements? Remember that last year, we announced that we were holding off on POTM for now as we develop a new way to highlight our unique player base!
