April POTM Recognizes Top Munzee Hosts!

We asked, you answered! Our April Player(s) of the Month criteria called for players to nominate the “host with the most” for the chance to earn the POTM title. While our past POTM have seen a wide berth of players awarded for their Munzee contributions, we decided to narrow down our April POTM finalists to include players with the most votes. However, we’d like to make it clear that many hosts and cohosts were nominated, and we appreciate all players who take the time and effort to host Munzee events and bring players together. With nearly 200 nominations, it’s clear that many players feel the exact same way!

Of course we needed our Global Events Manager Louise to help weigh in on the many nominations. Congratulations to the following players who were both nominated and hand-selected by Louise to be the April Players of the Month:

Remember, anyone who earned the Player Of The Week badge previously IS able to earn the Player Of The Month badge as well! Each month we announce a different set of criteria to award some of the many players who make Munzee so great. Stay tuned for our May POTM criteria announcement! Who knows, you might just be a winner. ?

What was the best Munzee event you ever attended? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram! Thanks to all who sent us their nominations, and a big thank you to each and every one of you who have hosted or co-hosted an event. And if you’re looking for the chance to get together with a bunch of players and earn some extra points, remember Munzee’s birthday is on the horizon! And it’s not a birthday without a party! ?

Congratulations, and Munzee on!

April Events Update! Act Fast

The April Events announcement went out a couple of weeks ago, and we have been delighted with the response.

The calendar is filling fast, and so is Trish’s diary! There are still slots available for custom badges and icons but not for much longer. Please get orders and art requests in ASAP, and we will be moving to generic artwork requests only in the next week or so when Trish has run out of slots for custom work!

Are you ready to have some fun with Munzee Events this April? We are excited to announce we are offering special packages for the whole of the month of April!

Christmas Events!

It’s that time again! We have just completed the Halloween events so now it’s time to start thinking about Christmas events. This year we are focussing on the Days of Christmas and these special packages are available for events throughout the whole of December.

Please get your events on the calendar and let me know which package you’d like. Each one has a unique host badge:

  • Partridge in a Pear Tree – Basic event and no proximity restrictions – $30
  • Two Turtle Doves – Partridge plus 20 virtuals – $50
  • Three French Hens – Turtle Doves plus badge and icon – $150
  • Four Calling Birds –  French Hens plus Eventzee – $200

We have something very exciting instead of the Emerald giveaway. It’s $20 per event, as usual, but the details will be shared during November. It’s going to be a fun addition attendees will love!

There is a badge to be won at each event for the “Most Christmassy Attendee” too. So dust off your dodgy jumpers or full on Santa costumes! The host will let me know who the winner is and you will feature on the blog.

This is the Attendee Badge that everyone will get and Father Christmas will be paying you a visit too!

So get those events on the calendar, orders in and artwork requests in nice and early please. As Trish’s diary fills up we will have to move to generic artwork.

If you’ve never hosted a Munzee event before don’t worry, I will guide you through the whole process and I look forward to working with you. If you’ve hosted before I look forward to working with you again!

PSA: Events in October

Howdy Munzee community around the world!

October was already going to be a busy month for events with all of the Halloween events on the calendar! However over the past 4 days many of you have shown your commitment to reaching Level 5 in the Clan Wars in a new way, by hosting events. Due to the overwhelming number, over 130 as of the time of this blog post, I felt it was necessary to give all players a few expectations for events.

Event hosts are important to us at MHQ. You’ve always been a generally smaller audience interacting directly with Louise, our Worldwide Events Manager, and have come to understand our systems. With this new rush of hosts and events we would like to welcome you, and share a few words of wisdom and some expectations.

The first is easy, understand you are not the only host Louise is dealing with. Respect her time and your own by FULLY reading her event creation email because it includes ALL of the information you need to be a successful host.

Second, be prepared in advance. Louise is great and she works at all hours of the day and night, but she may not be able to handle your “emergency” in a timely fashion if you haven’t prepared yourself. Again, most questions she has are covered by the email she sends you with your account details, please read it fully. You can also seek the advice of others who have hosted in the past or work together with others to share the load.

Third, Location Location Location! Events need to be in their own location. You cannot have 2 events in the same place around the same time, otherwise it is considered one event. Have the 2nd event at a later time in another location.

Finally, YOU ARE AN EXTENSION OF MHQ* to any players who attend your events. You could be the first person to introduce someone to this great game! Please understand that event hosts are held to a higher set of rules:

  • Many events have proximity rules lifted so they can deploy physical munzees in crowded areas. This does not give you the right to break the rules and teach others to do the same.
  • All deployments should physically be in the location where the pin is on the map, just like the regular game.
  • No event should have multiple munzees to scan at a single location.
  • No event should be conducted with a sheet of paper with munzees on it to scan as you walk/ride/drive from one location to the next.

The rules of the game are in place for a reason. Event hosts are held to a higher standard and need to set an example for all players. This is an important point for us because you are representing the game of Munzee to a wider audience. YOU are growing the game. We appreciate that very much and ask that you do so respectfully.

Thank you for reading these rules and requests, violations are being dealt with in accordance with the player code of conduct.

Let’s all have a great time in October and maybe we’ll see you at some of the events!

Munzee On!

*you are figuratively an extension of MHQ. not literally. 😉
