Use Your PinPoints Before They’re Gone!

Almost three years ago, we started the PinPoints program to give players a way to earn game pieces through gameplay and purchases. Although we’ve enjoyed this opportunity to reward players, certain limitations by third party developers have forced us to shut down the program. Because of this PinPoints will no longer be redeemable after 15:00 MHQ on March 31st.

If you have PinPoints you can read more about these changes below, but we do want to highlight a number of reward opportunities we’ve added over the last three years for the Munzee community:

  • We launched our In-App Store, which allows players to purchase items using Zeds, an in-app currency which are often given as rewards for various gameplay achievements.
  • By rebooting our ZeeOps program, players can earn daily rewards for completing missions, as well as different credits that can be used in the Redeem Store.
  • For special occasions, limited-time credits like the Sham Rocks are earnable via gameplay and can be redeemed for unique seasonal game pieces.
  • Key areas of the game have been revamped such as the NEW Daily Activity Tracker, and Clan Wars, where players are able to earn rewards through gameplay as well.

Ultimately as our team has developed better ways to deliver rewards, it has become unrealistic to rely on third party providers for these tools. We appreciate all of those that have embraced the PinPoints program so we want to be sure that you can make the most of those points while you have them.

How to Make the Most of Your PinPoints

To see past PinPoints transactions on our website visit: https://www.munzee.com/pinpoints/

To see current options to redeem in the store https://store.freezetag.com/pages/pinpoints

  • Earn PinPoints on purchases until 15:00 MHQ on March 28th – PP have a 3 day delivery/hold period on them, so we will deactivate new purchases at that time.
  • Review other items in the Freeze Tag Store to see if there’s anything else you want to redeem using PinPoints.
  • Use discount codes produced by PinPoints starting with “LL” before they are voided permanently April 1st.
  • Refer to our Help Guide article if you need a refresher on how everything works.
  • We know there are some players with large amounts of PinPoints left, so we have added a handful of NEW, higher value items until 15:00 MHQ on March 31st.

We do not anticipate offering PinPoints as part of a loyalty program in the future, so you will need to redeem your PinPoints before the removal date. Please note that we do not have PinPoints stored in the Munzee databases. PinPoints are held by a third-party provider through our Shopify store, so we won’t be able to bring those points back.

We hope you enjoy spending your leftover PinPoints, and stay tuned for more exciting ways to earn rewards in the future!

Spyderbot Squashing Initiative

Agents, we’ve received reports that a disturbing number of Spyderbots have flooded the map. While this is a good thing, as it means many of you are completing your Daily ZeeOps Missions regularly, it seems they aren’t getting squashed as quickly as we had expected. So, to make it more worth your while, we’ve quickly put together another bonus period for the month! We’ve even got a few rewards if you help us out!

Double Points Details

From the period of Wednesday, May 26th at 12:00 MHQ through Monday, May 31st at 23:59 MHQ, enjoy double capture points on Spyderbots! Please note that capon points are not doubled — this period is meant to reward those hunting and squashing the pesky machines.

To make them a bit easier to cap, we’ve added…

Limited-Time Landing Pads

For the same period as double points, Spyderbots will land on the following:

Rewards!

Help us short circuit the Spyderbot population and we’ll make it worth your efforts! Anyone who captures a Spyderbot during this time period will receive 5 Rover Treats. Anyone who squashes a Spyderbot will receive 1 QRowbar!

You will only receive the reward once, this is not repeated each time you cap or squash a Spyderbot. The rewards will be delivered on June 1st at 12:00 MHQ.

Rover’s Ability Boosted!

For the same period as double points, you will be able to send Rover to capture Spyderbots that are behind 500 feet, but within 1000 feet, using Rover Treats! Please keep in mind that Rover can only fetch on virtual munzees (normally only Amethysts and virtual scattered munzees are eligible to have their capture radius extended), so he can help you move Spyderbots along, but he cannot squash them for you.

Remember that the popup to send Rover to capture a munzee will only appear if you are out of the original range, so make sure to keep an eye out!

If you don’t have a Rover with you and there aren’t any nearby for you to pick up, you can purchase one from the Freeze Tag Store HERE, or if you’re on your Munzee-playing device, you can purchase it in the In-App Store HERE. To learn more about how Rover works visit our Help Guide articles HERE!

We hope this brings the Spyderbot population back under control!

Improvements to Website Quick Deploy!

For many players, our Web Map is the easiest way to deploy a Virtual, especially if it’s for a friend across the globe! However, with all the new Virtual types we’ve been releasing lately, even that process has started to become unruly. On Tuesday we made 2 changes to it which, while they may seem small, can be total game changers for those frequent virtual deployers:

1. Munzee types are broken up into 3 categories

Previously, the entire roster of virtual munzees was visible at once, which could get overwhelming and make it hard to find the type you had in mind.

Clicking on a category will expand the list to show only the munzees in that category.

We’ve started with these three categories for now, but may expand to more in the future!

2. The number of undeployed munzees you have for each type is now visible!

Previously, this information was only displayed in your Undeployed list. If you clicked on a munzee type that you didn’t actually have, a popup would tell you that after the fact.

Now all the information you need is all in one place!

We hope these improvements make playing Munzee a bit more convenient!

NEW Secret ZeeOps!

Agents, back in August we emphasized our switch from Monthly to Daily ZeeOps, but we still wanted to have the opportunity to create separate Secret ZeeOps in the new ZeeOps Program at various times throughout the year. This is because the special ZeeOps we made for the 2018 Advent Calendar was so well-received, even by players who didn’t regularly participate in ZeeOps! We hope to bring back some of the magic by creating more themed Secret ZeeOps for you to undertake in the future!

Secret ZeeOp Details

Before you head to your ZeeOps Hub to check things out, please make sure you have the latest Over-the-Air (OTA) update! All you need to do is force-close/force-stop the app — the next time you launch Munzee, you should see a progress bar (depending on how fast your connection is, it may only appear for a short while) which means the latest version is being downloaded and installed!

To keep things simple for ALL players, we decided on making Zeds the currency of choice for these Ops. This is why we prioritized the release of the ZeeCred Exchange page, which allowed players who had accumulated ZeeCred from the old ZeeOps Program to get use out of that currency.

As these Secret ZeeOps will cost Zeds, they are guaranteed to have BIGGER rewards than the Daily Missions, which are free. To kick off this announcement, Operation: WatchE.R. is available now in the [Secret] tab of your ZeeOps Hub for a limited time! You can see a preview in the screenshots below:

Please note that as we plan to create new Secret ZeeOps throughout the year, Operation: WatchE.R. will only be available for a limited time. However, if you’ve already purchased Operation: WatchE.R., you will be able to complete it and collect rewards even after it is no longer available for purchase.

Unlike previous monthly ZeeOps that required you to schedule Operations and complete Missions within the span of a day, Secret ZeeOps can be completed as quickly or slowly as you would like. Just click on the Mission to view the requirements and accompanying story.  As you progress through the Missions you’ll learn more about the story and advance throughout the Operation. Do you think you can reveal the mystery of the missing Walkie Talkie Watch prototype?

If you complete ALL the missions in Operation WatchE.R., you’ll receive the snazzy badge below, along with the Walkie Talkie Watch Munzee (more info below!) and various other rewards listed in the app!

We hope you look forward to trying out Secret ZeeOps as they are available!

Edit with added info:
If you’re looking for the bullet points about this specific NEW Operation: WatchE.R. here they are…
There are 3 levels, level 1 has 3 missions, level two has 5 missions and level 3 has 7 missions. Each level ends with more prizes.
We may share this information moving forward with other Operations but possibly not.

Walkie Talkie Watch Details

The Walkie Talkie Watch is an all new Zeecret Weapon that will put you in contact with up to two Agents out in the field! Like all the other Zeecret Weapons, it is available as a reward for completing ZeeOps Operations!

Points

  • Deploy: 25
  • Capture: 50
  • CapOn: 35

When you capture a Walkie Talkie Watch, it will scatter 1 Undercover Agent nearby. You must rendezvous with that agent by capping it! Once capped, it has a chance of sending you to a Liaison Agent or ending your mission with “The trail has gone cold.” If the Liaison Agent is capped, it has a chance of giving you a Mini ZeeOp, like Dossiers and Infrareds.

The Agents will only be visible to the player who capped the Walkie Talkie Watch and will be deployed on the Walkie Talkie Watch owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet.

The points for Agents are as follows:

  • Undercover Agent
    • Capture: 100 points
    • CapOn: 100 points
  • Liaison Agent
    • Capture: 200 points
    • CapOn: 100 points

You can access Walkie Talkie Watches, Undercover Agents, and Liaison Agents by turning on their filter in “Physicals – ZeeOps”. Capping these new munzees will also contribute progress towards the overall Zeecret Weapon captures badge line!

On behalf of MHQ, we thank you for your continued service.

Exchange ZeeCred for Game Pieces!

With the release of the Daily ZeeOps update in October, which eliminated the need for ZeeCred to participate in those missions, we promised to follow up with more information about ZeeCred usage in the future. We’re happy to announce that the day has come! From 12:00 MHQ today to 23:59 MHQ on December 31st, you can exchange your ZeeCred for select munzee types! Please note that this is an online-only feature. If you have no ZeeCred, no need to read any further. 😉

How to Exchange ZeeCred

  1. Make sure you’re logged in on the Munzee website: https://www.munzee.com/
  2. Head to this link: https://www.munzee.com/ops/
  3. In the top-right corner, you should see the total number of ZeeCred you didn’t use before the program ended.
  4. Below, you can choose the game piece you would like to redeem your ZeeCred towards
    1. Night Vision Goggles are worth 20 ZeeCred
    2. Briefcase Credits are worth 15 ZeeCred
  5. Click to confirm your redemption on any popups that appear
  6. That’s it!

We do not anticipate using ZeeCred as a currency in the future, so you will need to redeem as much as you choose to! If you’re wondering about any future Secret ZeeOps Missions (as we mentioned in this blog post) they will not require ZeeCred. These are the only two options for ZeeCred redemption and all ZeeCred will expire at the end of 2020.

We hope you enjoy spending your leftover ZeeCred! Stay tuned for more exciting ZeeOps news in the future!

ZeeOps Program Reboot!

Agents, in August we informed you that a change was coming to the ZeeOps program, which is why we had no monthly ops planned for September. As you’ve probably guessed from our numerous hints, we’re finally ready to unveil our NEW ZeeOps program! Here’s a briefing on the changes:

ZeeOps Changes

As mentioned in the August blog post, we’ve shifted to a Daily ZeeOps Mission system. These new Daily ZeeOps Missions will NOT require ZeeCred. Those players that have ZeeCred stored up have no need to worry, as we still have that data saved. We will release more information regarding ZeeCred usage in the near future!

Each day, at 00:00 MHQ time, you will receive a new mission in your ZeeOps Hub (more info in the next section) which is located above the Clan Wars hub on the main map screen. Just click the red ZeeOps button to access this all new section.

If you complete the mission during that MHQ day, you will earn a stamp for that day and receive the reward as indicated in the mission. Currently, the pool of rewards includes Zeds, Zeecret Weapons, or the deploy of the NEW Laser Pen (click HERE to learn more) near you! As always, this reward pool may be subject to change.

If you do not complete the mission, you will simply not earn a stamp on that day (likewise with the reward) and can try again the next day. After completing the very first Daily ZeeOps Mission you will have the option to discard missions once a day. The discard will simply remove that mission and give you a new option but it’s only available once daily.

Once you’ve completed your seventh mission and collected the indicated reward, you’ll unlock the vault and earn a Spyderbot! You can find more information about this  NEW temporary POB HERE!

Once the 7 days have been completed the counter for missions will reset and you’ll start over at Day 1.

In-App Updates

Whether you’re an experienced player or just started yesterday, we want everyone to get a good introduction to this updated area.

Once you have the update on your device, you’ll need to work through our tutorials before you can unlock the new ZeeOps Hub. You’ll earn 25 Zeds for each tutorial you complete, so it’s definitely worth your while!

Once you’ve done that, here’s what you’ll find:

The Daily Tab, which contains the following:

  • A visual representation of Daily ZeeOps Missions completed, up to the seventh mission
  • The current Daily ZeeOps Mission, consisting of the requirement, reward, and current progress
  • Ability to view more information about the reward by tapping on the reward image
  • Ability to discard the current Daily ZeeOps Mission in order to try a different Mission (once daily)
  • Depending on the Mission status:
    • View more information about the reward by tapping on the bottom button
    • Ability to collect the reward once the requirement is met
    • View the time remaining until the next Daily ZeeOps Mission will appear

The Secret Tab, which functions much like the old ZeeOps area, and contains the following:

  • The active Mini Ops or other non-Daily ZeeOps
  • Ability to view more information about the Op by tapping on it
  • Ability to view old Ops

Badges

There is a new badge line based on overall Daily ZeeOps missions completed. These badges depict fun interactions between rival spies! The first badge in this line is Vault Hunters, earned by completing your first Daily ZeeOps Mission! You can sneak a peek below:

Vault Hunters- Complete 1 Daily ZeeOps Mission.

Since everything here is new, you may run into bugs we haven’t squashed, so we thank you in advance for your patience. Please report anything you find to support@munzee.com.

On behalf of MHQ, we thank you for your continued service.

ZeeOps Program Adjustment

Agents, for some time now we’ve been evaluating the current ZeeOps Program. Although it has been a moderate success, we feel that a change is in order to keep it fresh and relevant to both seasoned agents and newer recruits. While you’ve been hard at work completing our Monthly Operations, we’ve been working on updates to our infrastructure. It is for this reason that there will be no ZeeOps as you know it for the month of September.

As always, development time is unpredictable. You may see the NEW ZeeOps some time during the month, or it may be another month or more down the line. Some of the things written here may even change.

For now, here is what we are planning: ZeeOps will now be composed of optional Daily Missions instead of Monthly Operations. This new Mission style will be free to encourage continuous gameplay. We feel that this change is important as Clan Wars is already a monthly program, and the updates we made last year allow for a lot more flexibility — you can even play as a 1-member clan, which would offer very similar gameplay to the current ZeeOps program. We also feel this change will improve all our agents’ morale as it will be something to help keep the brain and body active each day, if the agent chooses to complete the Daily Missions.

Currently, the fate of ZeeCred is still being worked out, but do not worry about losing it. It is still being safely stored in our databases! We’ll most likely have some Secret Missions you can put your ZeeCred towards, similar to the missions that were part of our 2018 Advent Calendar. On top of that, we are also working on some brand-new ZeeOps themed game pieces we think you’ll love, so stay tuned!

On behalf of MHQ, we thank you for your continued service.

ZeeOps- Operation: Training Camp (August 2020)

Agents, we’d like to commend you for a job well done last month! The recon missions all went smoothly and we have a wealth of information to analyze. As we are still in the planning stages for our next steps, we determined that this would be the perfect opportunity for you all to brush up on old skills — after all, there’s always room for improvement! This month, we’ll be sending you to our training camps to revive that muscle memory. Unlike the silhouettes depicted in the badge, make sure to maintain your distance from others, even other agents, as the missions and your health may be compromised.

This month’s missions focus on the humble greenie and virtual, the backbone of all our technology. However, to keep the training from being too bland, we’ve also included RUMs, Ice Mysteries, Evolutions, Zodiacs, and POBs in the missions as well. For your efforts you can a Jellyfish or Turtle, among other rewards, depending on the Operation that you choose. Once deployed and fully grown, they can travel the world and be helpful in making connections with other agents. Like last month, we’ve placed the full mission details on pages that are only accessible with your agent login — the link is provided below.

August 2020 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You will only have until August 31st at 23:59 MHQ to complete this month’s Operations. Only 2 Operation types are available for this month- the Basic Op (3 days) and the Advanced Op (7 days).

You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Remember that if you hit a snag at any point in your Operation you can use the Mission Mulligan feature to keep going!

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the “Operation: Training Camp” badge.

ZeeOps- Operation: Camp Out (July 2020)

Agents, we are happy to inform you that the mysterious transmissions we were receiving have successfully been decoded! However, the result didn’t give us much to go on… Thankfully, we’ve also had success cleaning all of our files (as far as we are aware), so we now have the resources to dedicate a large-scale effort in investigating the transmissions. This month, we’ll be sending you out on recon missions to gather some intel. Make sure to maintain your distance from others, even other agents, as the missions and your health may be compromised.

Depending on the Operation you choose, your requirements will be tailored to the environment you’ll be staking out. Basic and Advanced Operations will be surveying laboratories, so they will require Greenie and Evolution activity. Mega Operations will be surveying weapons factories, so they will require Clan Weapon activity. Ultra Operations will be surveying incoming cargo ships, so they’ll continue to require Fire and Ice activity, with some RUM activity as well. Like last month, we’ve placed the full mission details on pages that are only accessible with your agent login — the link is provided below.

July 2020 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You will only have until July 31st at 23:59 MHQ to complete this month’s Operations. All four Operation types are available for this month- the Basic Op (3 days), the Advanced Op (7 days), the Mega Op (10 days), and the Ultra Op (14 days)!

You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Remember that if you hit a snag at any point in your Operation you can use the Mission Mulligan feature to keep going!

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the “Operation: Camp Out” badge.

ZeeOps- Operation: Smorgasbord (June 2020)

Agents, the process of cleaning the infected files in our databases seems to be going well! We announced last month that we were able to stop the virus’s spread, and now, a month later, that still rings true. Every day, we get closer and closer to a fully recovered HQ!

However, as you know, our work is never over. In the midst of all this, we’ve been receiving seemingly garbled transmissions from an unknown entity. In the case that these transmissions may be trying to inject rogue code into our systems, our engineers have been put to task on decoding them in a safe, staging environment. We will notify you if the engineers discover any relevant information to your tasks. For now, all remaining agents are tasked with completing more missions involving Fire and Ice munzees, Evolution munzees, and Gaming munzees to complete the file-cleaning process. To make the mission details more secure we’ve placed them on pages that are only accessible with your agent login, as you’ll see below.

June 2020 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You will only have until June 30th at 23:59 MHQ to complete this month’s Operations.

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the “Operation: Smorgasbord” badge.
