Tour de Cure: Race Week Update

Hey, everyone!

Tour de Cure is THIS WEEKEND! The team is ready to race, and we’re excited to be supporting such a good cause. The Team Munzee cycling kits have arrived, and Louise is already sporting one.

A limited quantity will be available in the Munzee Online Store soon.

As we mentioned before, we will be hosting a Munzee Event after the races, so you can come support the race team, roam around Southfork Ranch, or check our the vendors booths. This will be a MunzFit event too!

Speaking of vendor booths, Eventzee will have a Tour de Cure-wide scavenger hunt going on during the event with a booth in the vendor area to spread the word about both Munzee and Eventzee.

We know everyone can’t make it, but we appreciate any support you can give, whether that be joining our team, cheering us on, or helping us raise funds for the American Diabetes Association by donating to the team.

We’ll be sharing plenty of pictures on race day, and we can’t thank you enough for your support. Keep an eye out for more information about an upcoming way to give back, as well.

MHQ Bash Recap and Galleries

MHQ Bash has come and gone and needless to say we had a great time. We could spend many hours going into fine detail the times that were had, but we’ll try and keep it brief. That being said if we release a 4 hour long videocast in the near future, you’ll know why.

Friday- Registration and Casino Night

We kicked off MHQ Bash 4 Registration on Friday night with casino games, some musical performances and a whole lot of fun! The Royal Flush Family was shuffling around and a certain jester kept the crowd entertained.

Major thanks goes to Cecie and the MHQ admin staff for making this one of the quickest and easiest registrations we’ve ever had! We had way more time for fun activities like our TazkMaster team building project.

Saturday Morning- Eventzee Activity Scavenger Hunt

Viva Las Vegas! We had a whole slew of casino-themed activities Saturday morning that left our players screaming “ALL IN!” Players had to locate each of the 10 activity stops, complete a specific challenge, and answer a quiz question after scanning the station’s QR code. The King himself even showed up!

Saturday Afternoon- WallaBash

WallaBee and Munzee players came together at The Hive (MHQ) for the first official gathering of the Bees and the Zees! WallaBee artist Andy Cameron signed players’ passports, Robbie and the BeeKeepers kept the party buzzing, and many prizes were won. We were surprised by how many people were in attendance, so expect next year’s WallaBash to be even bigger!

Saturday Night- Oktoberfest

Our players helped us wind down the evening at the site of the very first MHQ Bash: Downtown McKinney’s Oktoberfest! We met at the former Munzee Marketplace (RIP) and explored all of the German festivities throughout. After a long day, taking a relaxing stroll through Downtown McKinney and capping the event trail was a perfect end.

Sunday Morning- MunzFit 3K Race

MHQ Bash came to an end by kicking off our MunzFit 2.0 program! Everyone who could make it joined us in 3K race around Towne Lake in McKinney. Even though some could have used a bit better of a stretch before the race (looking at you Dylan) the weather was great and everyone had a good time.

MHQ Bash 4 Sale!

We know that everyone can’t make it to MHQ Bash this weekend, so we wanted to spread the love worldwide and offer a 10% discount on all items in the Munzee Online Store! The sale will run from Friday at 17:00 MHQ until Sunday at 12:00 MHQ. Just input the code “ALLIN” at checkout to receive the 10% discount.

Tour de Cure Update

Last month, we announced that members of Team Munzee would be participating in the DFW Tour de Cure to raise funds and awareness for diabetes. Since then, we’ve also announced MunzFit 2.0 events (as well as MunzFit 2.0 apparel) that will launch at the end of MHQ Bash and run through Tour de Cure. We’re a month out from the Tour de Cure, and we’ve got a few updates.

Munzee

Our Munzee event for Tour de Cure will have a special badge and icon that can be earned. We know everyone isn’t able to make it, but if you can, we’d be happy to see you. You can join our team, come out to cheer us on, or help us raise funds for the American Diabetes Association by donating to our team. If you do join us, we’ll have a Team Munzee tent that we will use as a meeting point.

Eventzee

Eventzee will be partnering with Tour de Cure for a special hunt! We’re currently working with the American Diabetes Association and Tour de Cure to finalize plans, so keep an eye out for more information.

MHQ Bash 4 Schedule

The team is hard at work preparing for MHQ Bash 4 right now, but we want to get the schedule out there for those who are joining us in McKinney!

FRIDAY
Registration: 6 PM (Doors open at 6)
Casino Night: 7-10 PM
Munzee HQ- 1720 Bray Central Drive, McKinney, Texas 75069

We’ll kickstart the weekend in top form with Registration and our “All In” Casino Night at MHQ! There will be variety of casino games including Black Jack and Poker with professional dealers, and you can compete for a chance to win Munzee gift cards!

Registration starts at 6 PM and not a moment sooner. We need to make sure everything is all ready to go before the fun begins. Please have your proof of purchase on hand so we can make it as quick and painless as possible!

Casino Night will officially start at 7 PM and lasts until 10 PM. The entire team will be here, which is the first time everyone from Munzee, Eventzee, WallaBee and Garfield Go will be in the same place! There will also be an Eventzee photo scavenger hunt for those in attendance. Do you think you can snap a pic with the Royal Flush Family?

Eventzee Activity Scavenger Hunt: 10 AM -12 PM

Bright and early Saturday morning we’ll host the annual Eventzee Activity Hunt! You’ll have to search through Erwin Park and complete various casino themed activities to advance.

As always there will be lots of photos taken, so dress to impress! You’ll need Lady Luck with you if you want to walk away with a Munzee gift card! You’ll have two hours to complete the hunt as quickly (and creatively) as possible.

Join us in reminiscing about the very first MHQ Bash at Downtown McKinney’s Oktoberfest! We’ll meet up at what used to be the Munzee Marketplace (RIP) and explore from there. There will be a virtual trail all around the festival and we’ll meet at each spot on the half hour. There will also be a German themed Eventzee hunt to keep you exploring the area.

SUNDAY MORNING
MunzFit 3K Race and Goodbye Event: 9 AM- 11 AM

After a long weekend we wanted everyone to take the chance to rest up and relax- then we remembered relaxing is boring! Help us kick off our MunzFit 2.0 program with a 3K race around Towne Lake.

By completing the race you’ll earn an AWESOME medal and a ton of badges. We’ll do a light breakfast, say our goodbyes and, of course, cap some munzees.

MunzFit 2.0 and Team Munzee Cycling Apparel

Team Munzee is gearing up for the Tour de Cure and MunzFit 2.0 events, and we want you to get in on the action, too! We know not everyone can be there, but you can sport the apparel we do. We’ll be wearing custom cycling jerseys for Tour de Cure, and we’ve created shirts based on their design.

We’ve also added MunzFit 2.0 shirts, tank tops, zip-up hoodies, pullover hoodies, and baseball tees!

And last, but not least, we’ve added a Munzee #MunzFit sports bra! This item is brought to you in partnership with DBA Sports, a sponsor of our cycling queen Louise. These are available NOW in multiple sizes!

MunzFit 2.0 Events!

Following our recent blogpost about Team Munzee entering the Tour de Cure in October, we are now ready to let you know the full details of MunzFit 2017!

The main news is we’d like you to join us in keeping MunzFit around the world! We are kicking things off with our 3km event in McKinney at MHQ Bash on Sunday 24th September. We also invite you to start hosting your own MunzFit events from Monday 25th September until Sunday 15th October inclusive.

The MunzFit event packages are $100 and include:
– Basic event package
– No proximity restrictions
– MunzFit Attendee badge (customised with event location)
– MunzFit host badge
– 5 Flat Robs
– 5 Flat Matts
– An Emerald in a new garden for each attendee

Team Munzee to Participate in Tour de Cure!

Last year, we introduced MunzFit as part of our March fundraiser for Skylar, the MDA, and the MNDA. MunzFit events were meant as a way to get our community (and our team) active while playing Munzee. We’ve continued to push ourselves to be more active in our daily lives since then, and now, we’re making another push.

On October 14th, members of Team Munzee will be participating in the American Diabetes Association’s 2017 DFW Tour de Cure. This event consists of a 5k walk/run or cycling up to 62 miles to raise funds and awareness for diabetes. Many members of the team have been directly affected by diabetes, whether it be by friends, family, or personal battles, and a few have taken part in a Tour de Cure event in the past.

We’d like to invite any Munzee community members to join us in our endeavor by participating, donating, or just cheering us on. If you would like to join our team or make a donation, you can follow this link to our Team Page. (Please read all of the information and requirements before signing up to participate.) If you would like to come cheer us on, we’ll be hosting an event of sorts. It is on the Munzee Calendar, and more information will be coming soon.

We’ve also created a Team Munzee cycling club on Strava (a running and cycling tracking social network). If you’d like to join, you can find us here.

MunzFit Events FAQ

We’ve had some questions regarding the MunzFit events, so we’ve got a FAQ for you!

Do I or my guests need a Fitbit?

No. MunzFit events have no ties to the Munzee Fitness Program. However, these events are meant to encourage players to get out and do something active.

Are the Flat Robs owned by the event or are they for prizes?

Flat Robs are owned by the event.

What exactly does “No proximity rules for non-Event Pins” mean?

One of the options for events is to have no proximity, meaning the event account can deploy Munzees in dense areas that they normally wouldn’t be able to. For MunzFit events, this option will be included. The only exception to this rule is the new Event Pins. Full information on those will be available very soon.

Do all attendees have to bike? Is it a non guided bike tour?

That is up to the event host. There are no specific requirements regarding what kind of event is put on.

Do Event Pins for the MunzFit events all have same icon?

Yes. This is the first time the Event Pins will be introduced. For future events, the hosts will be able to purchase custom icons for Event Pins like they do now for greenies.

Do we have to do a sports event or will a normal event also count?

Though we can’t say there is such a thing as a “normal” event, there are no specific requirements for a MunzFit event. We would love to see new, fitness-style events, though.

Are MunzFit events just like other events but with different things to deploy?

Yes and no. While the requirements are the same as other events, MunzFit events also include the special MunzFit badge, and they will be the first events to use the new Event Pin.

Can you explain how the MunzFit events work?

MunzFit events are an attempt to tie in Munzee’s contribution to the MND Association and the Rave & Ride Event with all players to give everyone the chance to support the cause. Events between May 6th-15th can purchase a MunzFit package and receive the MunzFit Badge, the new Event Pin, and other special items listed. They have no specific requirements regarding what the event must achieve (eg biking, running, etc), but we do encourage players and hosts to come up with new, exciting ways to incorporate something different into their events.

MunzFit 2016!

As we’ve said before, Munzee has been working with multiple organizations to donate money from the March fundraisers. While we’ve been working with MDA and Skylar directly, we’ve been working with another organization to help provide support for MNDA. We’re now ready to release information and introduce MunzFit 2016!

Rave & Ride is a 300+ person indoor cycling event organized by Steven Smith that raises funds for the MND Association in honor of his mother, Genifer, who passed away from MND. The event will be hosted at Stoke Park in the UK and see individuals and teams of indoor cyclists come together for an all-day sponsored ride with club music provided by live DJs. There is also the possibility of two world records being broken due to the scale of the event and the number of members expected to take part. Steven has already raised £115,000 for the MND Association through several events, and he is hoping the Rave and Ride event will push that amount over £160,000. Munzee will be involved in two ways. First, we will be making a donation to Rave and Ride during the event on May 14th, 2016. Rob and Matt will be traveling to the UK to meet up with Louise and present the donation to Steven. We didn’t want to stop there, though. While Louise is already participating in the event, Rob and Matt wanted to show their support for the cause and ride as well. They will be teaming up with Team DBA and DBA Sports (one of Louise’s riding sponsors) to ride during the event.

Rave & Ride is also the launching point for MunzFit 2016. From May 6th-15th, we will be having MunzFit events. We want to get as many people as possible involved, so we will be offering a MunzFit package.

For $100, a MunzFit Event includes:

The MunzFit Badge with editable text and flag (see below)
50 Event Pins (more information regarding these to follow)
10 Flat Robs
10 MVMs
No proximity rules for non-Event Pins
Prizes for all attendees from Secret Steven
