Munzee Mistakes: 20 Deploy Tips For New Players!

As followers of our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram know, we have been sharing Munzee Tips to help ease new player transitions into everyone’s favorite real world scavenger hunt. Along with our social media tips, we decided to release blogs for the next several weeks containing different categories of gameplay tips as suggested by players. Feel free to share these posts with new referrals (and don’t forget to share your referral code)! If you are new to the game and checking out our blog for the first time, welcome to Munzee!

This article’s theme is Deploy tips! Deploying is the term we use when you put out your own munzees for others to capture. Remember you can purchase munzees to deploy in the Freeze Tag Online Store!

Read what fellow players had to say about how to best deploy your munzees:

Deploy Tips and Tricks

Tip #1: When deploying a physical Munzee, first deploy it, then stick it to the object. So if you can’t place the Munzee at your location, then you can walk to another position without wasting a Munzee. (Felixbongers)

Tip #2: Always carry “greenies” (generic stickers) in your pocket! You never know when you need to replace or find that PERFECT spot. (Thefoods)

Tip #3: When deploying virtuals from a desktop computer, after you deploy, look at the location to make sure you did not deploy too close to another Munzee. (This is especially helpful along roadways.) Move your munzee to allow enough distance between the two for capping. (Calvertcachers)

Tip #4: Remember to write the type of special Munzee on the back when cutting them into individual QR codes, particularly MunzPak ones. Also leave a slight margin around the QR code so that it scans easily (Nuttynan)

Tip #5: When deploying physicals, don’t place them too high, since not all of us are tall and not all of us have selfie sticks! If you want CapOns, short people have to be able to reach them! (BonnieB1)

Tip #6: Think about convenient places where you can deploy your munzees, because of jumping myths/pouches/specials. Choose a place that you and other players can come back to many times in the day and the night, in summer and winter. (BituX)

Tip #7: When deploying in winter, remember foliage will grow in the spring! (Penfold49)

Tip #8: If deploying physicals close to houses or schools, etc. place the Munzee so the capper doesn’t have to point their phone towards the building to prevent them causing suspicion by appearing to take photos of private property. (Tonydev)

Tip #9: Deploy lots of greenies in areas you frequent often… home, work, and convenient points along your regular routes. A high density of “greenies” can attract Mythologicals, so you won’t be driving out of your way to get them. (BAJAclan)

Tip #10: Before deploying, hit the locate button as you stand where you want to deploy. This will get the pin right where you want it. Write in the notes where the munzee is located so others cap it and not mark it as unable to locate. (Kcsilvia)

Tip #11: In the Northern Hemisphere, put your stickers on the north side of an object whenever possible. This will minimize the sun exposure, and they will last longer. This goes for the south in the Southern Hemisphere. (Sabaharr)

Tip #12: Deploy some virtuals nearby and some far away. Spread them out, and help build locally. (levesund)

Tip #13: Build your area quickly to attract bouncing specials…. Deploy, deploy, deploy! (Monrose)

Tip #14: Deploying clusters of one type is very helpful for folks doing ZeeOps & Clan Wars (and will get you caps!). Jewel fields, weapon armories, Prize Wheel clusters, Zodiac groups, Elemental Mystery pits, etc. (denali0407)

Tip #15: When you name your deploys, always use at least three characters to be able to search them later on, and avoid naming several of your deploys identically, for the same reason. (tcguru)

Tip #16: When deploying a physical Destination Munzee, first convert your generic/printed Munzee to the respective destination type at home at the computer (don’t forget to label it on the back). So when you are going to deploy it in the wild, you will get a message in case there is not enough space for it. (halizwein)

Tip #17: Grow your local area with many different types of munzees for bouncers to land on. (McAdies)

Tip #18: Help other players, especially travelers, by deploying virtuals with information about places. For example, restaurants offering free wifi or interesting museums or cool stores. (MariaBr)

Tip #19: When you deploy in a new area, look to see what types of munzees the locals have been deploying in that area. (Violetblonde)

Tip #20: When you deploy a lot of physicals and/or a garden in a heavy traffic area, put some sort of sign up so common folk can download app and see what they normally would be missing. (Wabazz)

We’re also beginning to dust off the Munzee Help Manual, where you can find these Tips and Tricks. To share your Munzee Tip, connect with us on social media or e-mail iloveyou@munzee.com.

A big thank you to everyone in the Munzee community who has shared their tips thus far! New players, rest assured that Munzee is a social game, and there are many knowledgeable players waiting to help you out!

Pedal for Equality! International Women’s Day Point Increase and Freeze Tag Sponsorship

Happy International Women’s Day from MHQ! To celebrate the day the Munzee way, all Flat Lous will be worth DOUBLE points from 00:01 to 23:59 MHQ time today! And MHQ is proud to announce a new sponsorship this International Women’s Day.

A Pedaled Protest

What we love even more than extra points is the fierce lady behind them, as well as her crew of fellow empowered female cyclists. Louise will be joining her new cycling team the InternationElleswhose goal is to bring attention to the fact that there is a gender gap in the world of cycling. This is most apparent in the Tour de France which does not allow women to participate or offer a women’s version of the complete race. To demonstrate their disagreement with this dated system, female athletes from around the world will be clipping in and pedaling for equality. The InternationElles will ride the entirety of the Tour de France route, completing each stage the day before the men begin their sanctioned race.

Each year the French cycling team Donnons des Elles au Vélo J-1 ride the entirety of the Tour de France route before the men begin their sanctioned race. This year the team invited an international group of women to join them in their peaceful protest. The InternationElles is comprised of a team of 10 women from across the globe united in the quest of promoting women’s cycling as they bike for gender equality.

Freeze Tag Sponsorship

The InternationElles are entirely self-funded, leaving them on the lookout for sponsors and partners to unite in their cause. Inspired by Louise and her team’s dedication and in unity with their cause, the Freeze Tag Team is proud to announce our official support of the InternationElles on this International Women’s Day.

In celebration of International Women’s Day a portion of the proceeds from every Flat Lou purchase this weekend will go toward Freeze Tag’s sponsorship of the InternationElles. You can pick up your Flat Lou at the Freeze Tag Online Store to show your support!

Exposing Inequality

For the past four years, the Donnons des Elles au Vélo J-1 have biked in protest to stand up for women’s cycling, which is shockingly still marginalized in a year as progressive as 2019. The goal of the peaceful cycling protest is to change opinions about the capability and role of women in cycling. Just this past week, a major cycling race in Belgium had to be stopped after a female cyclist caught up to the men. The solution? “Neutralizing” the race in order to reinstate the gender gap.

After decades of fighting for an equal foot in the race, women are still excluded from the Tour de France. Female cyclists have been fighting to establish a sustainable women’s stage race that can rival it, with their efforts dating back to 1955. A host of issues, included financial burdens, organizational struggles, media bias, and mockery, have held female cyclists back from participating in a race filled with the same caliber of prestige as men are allotted.

The Big Picture

While the exclusion of female cyclists from the world’s biggest cycling race embodies an underlying current of sexism and exclusion in the event, in a fuller sense, Louise and her fellow female cyclists are striving to bring overall awareness to gender inequalities in cycling. The Donnons des Elles au Vélo J-1, InternationElles, and countless female cyclists from around the world are faced with continual disparagement that prohibits them from participating in their sport on the same caliber as their male counterparts.

Threaded throughout the sport of cycling is an undercurrent of sexism, from podium girls to select cycling company advertisement. Female cyclists pack in the same grueling training regimen as men, yet they are faced with prize money discrepancies, lack of women’s races, and lack of race coverage in the case that events do take place. These continual practices put female cyclists at a constant disadvantage, a position which this band of innovative ladies is hoping to eradicate and redefine.

Stay tuned for future updates about Louise, her team, and their cycling quest. The entire group of empowered female athletes will be preparing for their over 3,400 kilometer bike tour this July. The ladies will start in Brussels on July 5, concluding their race in Paris on July 27, demonstrating their athletic prowess.

You can show your support for Louise by deploying your own Flat Lou this International Women’s Day!

Ice Mystery DOUBLE Points Days and New Update!

Spring is on the way! Or at least it is over here at MHQ. (You’ll just have to play along if you’re still experiencing the Polar Vortex or if you’re Down Under.) To fully prepare, help us melt the ice with our Ice Mystery Munzee double points days announcement!

Ice Mystery

From March 20 at 00:01 MHQ time through March 24 at 23:59 MHQ time, all points for any activity on Ice Mystery munzees will be double! And this isn’t the only good news…

Ice Mystery Updates

These double points are arriving at an optimal time, since we have also decided to make some adjustments to our current Ice Mystery system. When captured, the Ice Mystery “freezes” three greenies within 2,500 feet. These will stay frozen for two hours or until capped, whichever comes first.

frozen greenie

Capping these frozen greenies will soon result in one of two updated outcomes:

  1. There is a chance that you “thaw” the frozen greenie. If you do, you earn 50 Capture points and the owner of the host greenie earns 10 CapOn points. This outcome remains the same as it previously was.
  2. The other outcome delivers a double update! If you get frozen, your screen will turn blue, and you cannot play for 30 seconds, instead of the previous 1 minute ban. In addition, you will now earn 100 points for being frozen! Turns out a little frostbite is not so bad after all!

These updates are effective beginning March 20 at 00:01 MHQ time.

We have a very limited supply of Ice Mystery Munzees in the Freeze Tag Online Store, available for $10 for FIVE Ice Mystery Munzees. Fortunately you can also pick them up from resellers too, so stock up before March 20th to make the most of your ICE days!

Points

If you need a little refresher, Deploying an Ice Mystery Munzee earns 50 points, while Capture/CapOn is a sum of 60 by multiples of 5 with a minimum of 10 points. For example, if Capture = 45 points, CapOn = 15 points.

Remember that the double points will run in conjunction with the newly updated points system! This means that all Ice Mystery Munzees AND frozen greenies capped or deployed from  March 20 through March 24 will be worth double points at our new point values. It might prove highly beneficial to get a little frosty, so don’t fear the cold!

Badges

Existing badges will continue to be awarded for Capture, Deploy, and Being Frozen. There are a total of nine badges you can earn. The first in each category appears as follows:

Will you help us thaw the ice? Pick up your ice Mystery Munzees today!
