This weekend, Rob and Matt will be joining Space Coast Geo Store (Dale and Barb) in Tyler, Texas. They will be milling around the area for most of Saturday and attending the Space Coast Comes to Tyler, TX event on Saturday evening. If you’re in the area, come and join them for great Munzee times as well as a meet and greet with some of the MHQ staff.
For anyone who can’t attend this event, we hope you enjoy 3x Point Weekend and Flat Robs being on the map! Let’s make this weekend a memorable one!
First off, we want to thank you for your patience over the past few days. Scott and Daniel, along with our AWS partner, have been working nonstop to get everything back up and running properly.
As you can imagine, Rob is a bit worn out after this week and is ready for a break. He can’t just step away, though, so he’s leaving Flat Rob to look over the map. Starting tomorrow (March 3rd) at 00:01 MHQ time, Flat Robs will be on the map. This will last through Sunday, March 5th, at 23:59 MHQ time.
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE.
Flat Rob didn’t want to leave the map, so we bargained with him. Flat Robs will be on the map the following two weekends as well. They will appear from:
- March 9th at 00:01 MHQ time through March 12th at 23:59 MHQ time
- March 17th at 15:00 MHQ time through March 19th at 23:59 MHQ time
Since the blog has been down we’ve had some new things released so for information check out the following blogs;
Thanks again for your support and for sticking with us. We know this ordeal has been a bit painful, but it has all been minor growing pains to help the games and platforms.
While you’ve all been busy capturing the treacherous Jewel Thief on precious stones all month, a new stealthy fella is roaming the halls of Hotels and Motels worldwide. He claims he’s just here to help you with your bags though, so be sure to leave a tip for the new Bellhop Nomad Munzee!
10 Bellhop Nomads are now bouncing on Motel and Hotel Munzees every 12 hours or until captured. Note that the Bellhop only bounces to physical Destination Munzees though, so it will not fall on Virtual Resort Munzees.
These nomads will count toward the new Nomad Badges that were recently released as well.
Capture – 100
CapOn (for host) – 20
Since capping a Motel/Hotel usually means multiple caps and also a deploy if there are rooms left, we figured we’d go ahead and answer a few questions that might pop up:
1) What happens if I cap a Bellhop Nomad on an already capped Motel/Hotel?
You will get the points for the Bellhop Nomad, but you won’t get caps for the rooms again.
2) What happens if I cap a Bellhop Nomad on a not yet capped Motel/Hotel?
You’ll cap the Motel/Hotel as a nomad and additionally cap the rooms like you would have normally.
3) What if there are rooms available?
You’ll deploy a room like normal, as long as you do not already have a room since this would be case 1.
You’ve been kind enough to let our Nomad Munzees hitch a ride from time to time, so it’s only fitting you be rewarded for your kindness with a new badge line!
The Nomad Capture badge line includes three badges: “Orienteer”, “Cartographer”, and “Hiker” for capping 25, 100, and 250 Nomad Munzees of any type.
Orienteer- Capture 25 Nomad Munzees
Cartographer- Capture 100 Nomad Munzees
Hiker- Capture 250 Nomad Munzees
The Nomad capture badges will count for capping any of the Nomad Munzees, which are currently:
- Virtual Nomad
- Mystery Nomad
- Jewel Thief Nomad
These badges ARE retroactive and will begin awarding Thursday, February 16th.
Be on the lookout for those bouncing Nomads, and stay tuned for even more!

In August of 2015, we allowed some escaped specials to roam the map as Nomads. Last April, Mystery Nomads joined the Virtual and Physical Nomads on the map. Now, a much more villainous nomad will be joining the crew.
The Jewel Thief Nomad travels around the globe in search of gems to covet. It bounces on the physical jewels every 12 hours or until it is captured and sent along its way. For capturing this heinous thief, you will earn 100 points and the owner of the jewel owner will earn 20 points. While it’s already too late to stop their escape, we do know that they will being making appearances at 10:00 MHQ time tomorrow, February 2nd.
Name: Jewel Thief Nomad
How Many Are There: 10
What Does It Do: Bounces on physical jewels (Aquamarine, Topaz, Diamond, Pink Diamond, and Ruby Munzees) every 12 hours or when capped.
- Capture: 100
- CapOn (for host owner): 20
Release Date/Time: Thursday, February 2nd at 10:00 MHQ time
We need your help to get the world’s jewels safe. Are you in?
When we released the original nomads, it was always our intention to expand the lines of them. Now, we have.
The Mystery Nomad lands on Mystery and Mini Mystery Munzees (physicals only). They bounce with the same frequency as Physical and Virtual Nomads (every 12 hours or when capped). There will be a 50-100 point split between the capper and the host with a minimum of 25 points.
There are now 10 Mystery Nomads our, and they can be seen with other specials at www.munzee.com/specials. We’ve also increased the number of Physical and Virtual Nomads to 10 each. We hope you enjoy these changes. Munzee on!
