Roverhaul Part 2!

Last month, Rover gained a cool new ability to dig up Jewel Shards while accompanying you on Jewel-capping sessions! We hinted that that was only the first part of Rover’s planned upgrades, so we’re excited to reveal the second part to you now!

Another Trick in Rover’s Toolkit!

When you feed Rover a Rover Treat, your capture radius for virtual scattered munzees* (i.e. Feathers, Gnome Hats, etc.) and Amethysts will be doubled or raised to a minimum of 500 ft for one capture! For example, if the munzee normally requires a capture radius of 300 ft, it will be doubled to 600 ft. And if the munzee normally requires a capture radius of 150 ft, it will be raised to the minimum of 500 ft.

At launch Rover will only help you capture the aforementioned types, however he may be trained to chase other types in the future.

You’ll only see the option to feed Rover a treat if you:

  1. Have a Rover with you AND
  2. Try to capture a virtual scattered munzee or Amethyst that is too far away

This flow should prevent you from wasting Rover Treats, and also ensure that the popup won’t be too disruptive during normal play!

Premium players will receive 1 Rover Treat during this launch! Otherwise, you can pick up Rover Treats in the In-App Store for 40 Zeds, or get a pack of 10 Rover Treats in the Freeze Tag Store for $3.

Rovers Now Available In-App!

If you checked out the In-App Store upon reading the previous paragraph, you most likely noticed another item sitting beside the Rover Treats — that’s right, Rovers are now available in the In-App Store!

As we continue to refine and improve the Munzee app, expect more Rover-related news!

Munzee on!

*Unfortunately, Charge Munzees (scatters that land on another munzee) and MOB scatters (scatters that come from munzees that land on another munzee) are excluded from this, but as stated above, this may change in the future!

Forge Weapon Shards into Something Nameworthy!

After last month’s success with Jewel Shards and their spotlight this month during Jewel Day, we wanted to keep the momentum going and create another shard type! In our quest to create more flexible systems for our players so that they can play their way, we decided that Clan Weapons would be the next priority.

If you’re a new player, you may not have many Clan Weapons yet — but keep reading so that you’re prepared for the future! Otherwise, if you’re an experienced player, you may have an overstock of specific Clan Weapon Credits. You’ll be able to choose if you want to redeem some of your Clan Weapon Credits for Weapon Shards. If you do, you’ll be able to use those Weapon Shards to create new Clan Weapons of your choosing. For example, you may have tons of Maces stored up from past Clan War rewards and have no plans on using them. Now you have the option of breaking some of those Maces into Weapon Shards and using them to get The Hammer. The choice will be yours within the options given.

Don’t worry if you have any Clan Weapon Credits saved up — those will remain. Please also note that only Credits can be converted to Weapon Shards — meaning existing Crossbows and Catapults cannot be converted. However, you will be able to convert Weapon Shards to any of the 6 weapons. Moving forward, Clan Wars will award Weapon Shards instead of specific weapons. Of course, not all Weapons are created equal, so different amounts of Weapon Shards are required to convert to each Clan Weapon type.

You’ll find all the details and conversion rates at munzee.com/redeem. These rewards/rates may change from time to time, and the Trojan Unicorn may even be found. Remember it is archived at the end of each clan war, so choose your timing wisely!

While Weapon Shards are currently only available as trading elements online or Clan War rewards, who knows what the future holds? Perhaps you’ll be able to forge something new? Only time will tell!

Have a Gem of a Weekend with Double Points and More!

As March 13 is National Jewel Day, we thought it was the perfect excuse to put Jewels and Funfinity Stones in the spotlight! This year, on top of double points, we’ve got some special badges for you to earn and more! Read on to get the deets!

Double Points Details

From the period of Thursday, March 11th at 12:00 MHQ through Monday, March 15th at 12:00 MHQ, enjoy double points on ALL Jewel and Funfinity Stone activity!

This includes deploys of new Funfinity Stones, which leads us into the next topic…

Store Sale!

For the same period as double points, Funfinity Stones will be available in the Freeze Tag Store!

This is the perfect opportunity to pick up any that you missed last year, especially if you are looking to earn the Funfinity Bootlet badge!

Limited-Time Badges

For the same period as double points, you can earn a special badge for capturing a certain amount of Jewels, and another for deploying a certain amount of Jewels. If you need any jewels to deploy you can find them in the store or redeem your jewel shards!
You can see what these badges look like below!

We’ll keep the requirements a secret, but they shouldn’t be too hard to get! Please note that these badges will only require Jewel activity, NOT Funfinity Stone activity.

Rover Learned a New Trick!

Perhaps you’ve guessed what it is from the badge image above? Now, when you capture a Jewel while a Rover is with you, you have a small chance of receiving Jewel Shards! This includes Jewels captured using Blasts!

The popup that appears after you’ve captured a Jewel will let you know if Rover has dug up any, so make sure to keep an eye out! You will also find them on your credits list.

If you don’t have a Rover with you and there aren’t any nearby for you to pick up, you can purchase one from the store HERE! To learn more about how Rover works visit our Help Guide article HERE!

We hope you enjoy going on a treasure hunt with an old pal! We’re considering this the first step in our long-awaited Roverhaul.

Jewel Shards are a Smash Hit!

We’re finally ready to give our veteran players a requested feature with a fun twist. Welcome Jewel Shards! Similar to our Hotel renovations with Destination Credits, we wanted to create a more flexible system for Jewels. This is especially true after the warm reception to the Funfinity Stone Pouch Creatures last year.

This new system is designed for experienced players who may have an overstock of specific Jewel Credits. You’ll be able to choose if you want to redeem some of your Jewel Credits for Jewel Shards. If you do, you’ll be able to use those Jewel Shards to create new Jewels of your choosing. For example, you may have tons of Aquamarines stored up from past Clan War rewards and have no plans on using them. Now you have the option of breaking some of those Aquas into Jewel Shards and using them to get a Citrine or a Ruby. The choice will be yours within the options given.

Don’t worry if you have any Jewel Credits saved up — those will remain, and all Jewels can still be purchased in the Freeze Tag online store. Of course, not all Jewels are created equal, so different amounts of Jewel Shards are required to convert to each Jewel type.

You’ll find all the details and conversion rates at munzee.com/redeem.

While Jewel Shards are currently only available as trading elements online, who knows what the future holds? Perhaps a certain bot buddy will help find more, or maybe you’ll earn them in Clan Wars or ZeeOps? Only time will tell!

FAQ:

Q: I’m a new player with no Jewel Shards and no Jewel credits to exchange. What do I do?
A: Be patient. This is being introduced as a tool for those who have accumulated many credits in order to give them a way to choose what type of Munzee they become and deploy.

Q: Why are the number of Jewel Shards given for a Jewel not the same as the number of Jewel Shards required to get a Jewel?
A: The vast majority of these Jewels were earned as rewards from Clan Wars, Prize Wheels, ZeeOps, and other gameplay activities. The value doesn’t change, but the option to upgrade into a different Jewel is accounted for.

Q: Why can’t I break a virtual Amethyst (or other virtual Jewels) into Jewel Shards?
A: Virtual Jewels are complete munzees in your undeployed list, so it isn’t the same process as exchanging a Jewel Credit for a Jewel Shards credit.

Q: What about Clan Weapons?
A: What about them? 😉 Stay tuned for possible expansions into other areas of the game!

Q: Can I trade my credits to another player or give Jewel Shards to another player?
A: Nope.

New Jewels Discovered in the Munzee Mines!

Back in 2015, we thought that we had completed our collection of Jewel Munzees with the release of the Amethyst. We even created the Family Jewels badge to celebrate! The MHQ Mining Co. refocused its efforts to dig up as many of the 6 jewels as it could, and abandoned exploratory digs to search for more. In 2016, the Pink Diamond was discovered in dragon hoards. As it was the result of the dragons’ fiery magic, the MHQ Mining Co. still believed that there were no new jewels left to discover. Turns out, they just had to dig a little deeper!

Our latest Jewel Munzees are here to bling up your part of the map! You can pick up the Citrine Jewel Munzee from the Freeze Tag Online Store HERE, and the Onyx Jewel Munzee HERE. If you have PinPoints, you’ll also have the option to purchase them in the PinPoints store! There is NO limit on purchase quantity per player. You can shop the entire Jewel Collection HERE!

Citrine and Onyx Jewel Details

To round out our rainbow of jewels, the Citrine and the Onyx were designed as virtual types. Now both physical and virtual players have five options each if they want something shiny!

Capture Radius: 300 feet, blastable

Deploy: 40 points for Citrine, 50 points for Onyx

Capture: 45 points for Citrine, 50 points for Onyx

CapOn: 40 points for both

To access these jewels, turn on your “Virtual – Jewels” filter. For more information on how to deploy a Citrine or an Onyx, you can check out our Help Guide article.

Some properties of these new jewels have yet to be discovered — will they attract myths like the Ogre, Chimera, etc., and if so, which? In the coming weeks we’ll need help from you, our fellow gemologists, to run some tests! Don’t forget to keep an eye out for any changes!

2x Jewels Weekend!

To celebrate the launch of these two new Jewel types we’re making ALL Jewel Munzees worth double points for the weekend! Starting at 00:01 MHQ on February 21 players will be able to earn double points on Jewel Captures, Deploys, and CapOns. The bonus will last until 23:59 on Sunday February 23. This should help those in February Clan Wars, so be sure to stock up on Citrine and Onyx Jewels, and don’t forget we have the new Virtual Jewel Booster Pack and the Physical Jewel Booster Pack to earn even more points this weekend! You can shop the whole Jewel Collection HERE!
