Introducing the Classical AlternaMyth Wrangler Badge!

It’s been a while since the release of the Myth Wrangler, Classical Myth Wrangler, and AlternaMyth Wrangler badges, so it seems long past due that we introduce your next challenge!

We’re excited to announce that you’ll soon be able to earn the Classical AlternaMyth Wrangler badge for capturing all four Classical AlternaMyths in a single day!

The Fire Pegasus, Cherub Faun, Ogre, and Chimera are all hard enough to find on their own, but will you be lucky enough to cap them all in one day? Since these Alternative Versions of the four Classical Mythological Munzees are exclusively deployed by Freeze Tag team members, this badge is only for the most committed of Myth hunters.

You’ll want to do everything you can to increase your odds, so remember to utilize Munzee Magnets and Elemental Munzees. 

Please note that regular first generation Myths or AlternaMyths, Classical Myths, or Gen 3 Myths will not count toward this badge. The Classical AlternaMyth Wrangler badge IS NOT retroactive though. The badge will begin awarding at 00:01 MHQ time on Wednesday July 17, 2019.

Pegasus and Faun Myth Variants Join the Map!

Update: The blog has been updated on 6/28/19 to reflect the addition of the virtual Krampus Faun Myth Variant. 

Whether you’re soaring into summer or experiencing the winter chill, our brand new Mythological Munzee Variants are here to season your map! Starting at 15:00 MHQ time today, you’ll be able to upgrade both the Pegasus and Faun Mythological Munzees into four new variants! We’ve also restocked certain Player Owned Bouncers in the Freeze Tag Store so click HERE to get yours!

Much like AlternaMyths, the Mythological Munzee Variants are twists on the original Myth types that allow them to bounce to other types of munzees. These variants are only available to Myths that have been “Upgraded.*” You can shop our restocked Mythologicals in the Freeze Tag Online Store for a limited time only. We’ll also be adding Pouch Creatures to the store, but they won’t be around for long! Click the link HERE to pick yours up before they’re gone, and be sure to get your Bouncer Upgrade Credit!

All four of our new variants will have the same point values:

  • Deployment: N/A
  • Capture: 200 Points
  • CapOn: 100 Points

Lastly, before we dive into the new variant details, the Pegasus Myth will also be getting a point increase effective now! The Pegasus Myth will now be worth the regular 200 points for a Myth when captured, as well as 250 deploy points! Now on to the new variants…

Griffin Pegasus

This amalgamation of an Eagle and a Lion soars majestically! This variant of the Pegasus Mythological Munzee flies to the following:

Alicorn Pegasus

The horned Pegasus is ready to take flight! This variant of the Pegasus Mythological Munzee flies to the following:

  • Virtual Munzees
  • Air Mystery Munzees
  • Shamrock Munzees

Centaur Faun

The warrior of the woods is ready for battle! This variant of the Faun Mythological Munzee trots to the following:

Krampus Faun

The frightening friend of Father Christmas will give you chills! This variant of the Faun Mythological Munzee sleds to the following:

Upgrading Your Myth

Once your Myth is upgraded with the Bouncer Upgrade Credit, you can convert it to a new type similar to how you would convert any other type of munzee. Remember that you can only convert a Myth Variant once, and after a Myth has been changed, it cannot go back. Previously known as the Myth Upgrade, the Bouncer Upgrade Credit also allows for the opportunity to “nudge” your Myth to a new munzee up to three times a day in the MHQ 24-hour day after it has sat for three hours. Plus it gives you the opportunity to rename your Myth to something personal and creative!

Points for Variant Myths will remain the same. Variant Myths will also continue counting toward their specific Myth badges just like normal. The only thing that changes with an Upgrade is what it bounces to, as well as a new capture icon in the Specials list.

Get All Mixed Up With The Chimera AlternaMyth

Lions, Dragons and Billy Goats oh my! The final Classical AlternaMyth has launched on to the map and this amalgamation of mythological beings is the leader of the pack! Bow down to the Chimera AlternaMyth Munzee!

As with the other AlternaMyths these Mythological Munzees are deployed on behalf of our HQ staff’s accounts, thus super rare. You’ll get 200 points for capping the Chimera. Owners of the host munzee will also earn double the points of the Chimera’s many-headed cousin, the Hydra.

This may be the AlternaMyth to the Hydra Mythological Munzee, but the Chimera is so much more! This creature is made up of a lion, a goat, a snake and a dragon, with the wing of a Pegasus and the tail of a scorpion for good measure. As such Chimeras are attracted to a wide variety of landing pads.

Chimeras may land on an assortment of munzees, but you can take your traps a bit further by using either a physical or virtual Munzee Magnet!– Chimeras are attracted to both! You can grab Magnets in the Freeze Tag Online Store along with a variety of different Chimera capturing codes. In celebration of the final Classical AlternaMyth we’ve also released a Chimera decal sticker and a new Chimera Elemental Pack featuring physical Elemental Munzees.

This pack includes:

  • 2 Fire Mystery Munzees
  • 2 Earth Mystery Munzees
  • 2 Water Mystery Munzees
  • 2 Ice Mystery Munzees

This package is available for $7.50.

Capturing a Chimera will also count towards the Myth Collector badges so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for those mixed up munzee maniacs.

The Rainbow Unicorn, Gnome Leprechaun, Ice Dragon and Sasquatch Yeti are all hard enough to find on their own, but will you be lucky enough to cap them all in one day? Since these Alternative Versions of the first four Mythological Munzees are exclusively deployed by MHQ, this badge is only for the most committed of Myth hunters.

You’ll want to do everything you can to increase your odds, so remember to utilize Munzee Magnets and Elemental Munzees. 

Please note that regular first generation Myths, Classical Myths, or Classical AlternaMyths will not count toward this badge. Unlike the original Myth Wrangler this badge IS NOT retroactive though. The badge will begin awarding at 00:01 MHQ time on Thursday, February 8th.

Introducing the Classical Myth Wrangler Badge!

In December 2016 we set a new challenge for our players: Wrangle the Myths.

For the past year players have hunted down Unicorn, Leprechaun, Dragon and Yeti Mythological Munzees in a single day in order to earn the fateful Myth Wrangler badge. Those original four Myths gained some company over the year too though.

In 2017 we also released four new Mythological Munzees: The Faun, Hydra, Pegasus and Cyclops munzees. It’s about time we started wranglin’ those Myths too!

We’re excited to announce the Classical Myth Wrangler Badge. This badge is for top tier players who can capture all four Classical Mythological Munzees in one day- based on MHQ time. This is no easy task, but luckily a few Munzee Magnets should help you on your journey.

Please note that first generation Myths and AlternaMyths will not count toward this badge. Unlike the original Myth Wrangler this badge IS NOT retroactive though. The badge will begin awarding at 00:01 MHQ time on January 18th.

Introducing Myth Collector Badges!

With so many new Mythological Munzees popping up these days, you’d have to be crazy to go chasing after all of those kooky creatures. Luckily our players aren’t afraid of pushing the limits when it comes to capping munzees.

Myth Trapper – Capture 1,000 Mythological Munzees of any type.

So with that mind we’re happy to announce that a new line of badges have been released for capturing Myths of any type! Not for the faint of heart, these badges will tally up every Mythological Munzee you’ve ever captured.

Mythological Munzees:

  • Unicorn
  • Leprechaun
  • Dragon
  • Yeti
  • Faun
  • Hydra
  • Pegasus
  • Rainbow Unicorn
  • Gnome Leprechaun

The badges are retroactive, but you’ll only be able to see the requirements for the next badge once you complete the previous one. Once you earn the first in the set you’ll unlock the requirements for the next badge. All of the badges are live so you can start earning them now.

It won’t be easy to earn these badges, but we know you’ll brave the elements! Remember, you can increase your chances of finding Myths by using Elemental Munzees and Magnets.

Munzee Newsletter: August 2017 Wrap-Up

Although August usually tends to be a cool down after July’s big birthday month, this year we kept very busy! We gave our players a hand, flew high in the sky and even started treasure hunting. Take a look back on some of the things that happened last month and what to expect this month as well!

A HUGE thank you is in order to all of our players worldwide! Our community pulled together to help out after the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey in South Texas. Through the sale of Water Mysteries and Assorted Mini Packs, as well as WallaBee Mixers, we gathered $7,500 in donations for relief efforts.

We can’t express how proud we are to have such a great community that rallies around those in need. Thank you, again, for your support and generosity.

Leftie Loosy

To celebrate International Left Handers Day and all of our left-handed players, we released a fun special at the beginning of the month! The Leftie Specials bounced all over the globe and to recognize the 10% of the population that is left handed these specials also had a 10% chance of scattering a Left Handed Thumbs Up icon.

The Thumbs Up were pretty rare to come by, but Munzee Magnets helped out!

High Flyers

This month the majestic Pegasus Mythological Munzee took to the skies. Although other Myths like the Faun and Hydra land on Greenies and specific physical Elemental Munzees, the Pegasus is a different kind of beast. The Pegasus bounces on all colors of Virtual Munzees, Mystery Virtual Munzees, and MVMs as well as Air Mystery Munzees.

Air Mystery Munzees are currently available in the Munzee Online Store!

We released a ton of new badges last month!

The elementals stormed in with Earth, Water and Air Mystery badges.

You’ll be going Places with the new Places Munzee Streak badges as well as the expanded Places Capture badges.

With the release of the Pegasus we expanded all of the various badges for capturing Myths.
