Letter From Zee Prez

Howdy Munzeers!

It’s time for a quick update on the overall progress and direction of Munzee! Over the past few months we’ve made some changes to the game and been working behind the scenes on a new version of the app. While I don’t have all of the details to share with you today I’d like to give you some information to help you know where we are headed.

As we move toward the 4.0 version of the Munzee app we are preparing many things behind the scenes. One of those is a much needed update to the point structure. In the beginning there was one type of Munzee, affectionately nicknamed the greenie. Other types were added over time with each becoming more and more valuable. The greenie sat in the shadows even though it is the cornerstone to the game. I want you to know that we have a plan for greenie points and it’s going to be rolled out soon. We love the greenie as much as you do and want to return the cornerstone to it’s place in the sun! In the meantime we will continue to update the point structure of many other types. You may notice the majority of point updates have happened to physical Munzee types. There is a purpose behind that as we know physical gameplay accomplishes our goals to get people active and moving. You will see us continue to drive the physical portion of the game forward since it is the majority of deploys worldwide, and always will be. Thanks for your patience during this big point update project.

Munzee 4.0 is a very large project as well. We aren’t quite ready to put it in the hands of beta testers yet, but we are feeling good about the progress through our alpha testing recently. The app is getting a complete makeover while the functionality you’ve come to expect will remain intact. The core gameplay is our focus while we also cleanup many side menus and organize features in a better way. We think you’re really going to enjoy it and can’t wait to get it out there in the field being tested. Stay tuned for more updates including information about beta testing and changes before the full launch of version 4.0.

I hope you’ve been participating in the variety of ways Munzee offers through gameplay options. We have events put on by players all of the world. Participate in Clan wars and join a group of 10 worldwide players to compete monthly in order to try and reach goals and win prizes. Recruiting for monthly clan wars is open on the 1st and 2nd of each month. You can also challenge yourself to complete our daily and weekly ZeeOps to earn prizes. We have plans to continue updating and evolving each of these interactive styles of gameplay after 4.0 launches and we can focus on each individually.

There are portions of the game you may think we’ve forgotten about, but believe me when I say that we have not. Munzee is huge and an intricate tapestry so we have to work on it one piece at a time currently! Remember our theme for the year? The Time Is Now! We remember and we’re working hard every day to make updates and keep things fresh. Please help us by growing the game and growing the map! The future of Munzee is so bright and we have so many great things in store. We can’t do any of this without our amazing Munzee community and we remember that fact daily. You are our focus.

Please contact us with questions, suggestions, and issues. My apologies if we don’t respond to every suggestion because we receive so many that we are really working on. The great ones might even make it into the game! I look forward to meeting some of you at upcoming events and interacting with others online!

Mystery Munzee Point Increase!

If you’ve been paying attention, you may have noticed that we have slowly been rolling out point updates to a variety of different munzee types. We’re excited to announce that Mystery Munzee points are the latest to be updated! Starting NOW the points for Capturing, Deploying and Cap-Ons for Mystery and Mini Mystery Munzees has been increased to the following:

  • Deploy: 60
  • Capture and CapOn: Split 80 with a minimum of 20 as multiples of 5 (20/60, 30/50, 45/35, etc.)

With this point increase comes a merger of Mini Mysteries and Mysteries as well. Moving forward, both will just be called “Mysteries” regardless of their size**. Please note that this point increase is not retroactive, so past deploys and captures will not be increased.

In celebration of the new Mystery Munzee point structure we have a special offer in the Freeze Tag Online Store! From now until Wednesday at 23:59 MHQ if you buy two packs of Mystery Munzees (5 Pack) you’ll be given *additional stickers in each pack! To take advantage of this offer just buy a minimum of 2 Mystery Munzees in the online store, no code is necessary. Each additional set of 2 purchased will receive added free stickers.

The prevailing theory is that all these recent point increases are linked to the development of Munzee 4.0- and you wouldn’t be wrong in thinking that! Others seem to think the point increases are a drive to promote the physical side of Munzee gameplay and we agree with that theory as well! So stay tuned for more information regarding 4.0, point increases and more.

*Free stickers will be a minimum $5 value for each order of 2 Mystery Munzee packs. They will be a mix of generic and pre-coded Munzee type stickers.
**Developer side note: the Munzee type code for mystery and minimystery has been combined and only one survives. This note is for those API developers who understand, the rest of us have no need to worry about this line. 😉
