Roverhaul Part 2!

Last month, Rover gained a cool new ability to dig up Jewel Shards while accompanying you on Jewel-capping sessions! We hinted that that was only the first part of Rover’s planned upgrades, so we’re excited to reveal the second part to you now!

Another Trick in Rover’s Toolkit!

When you feed Rover a Rover Treat, your capture radius for virtual scattered munzees* (i.e. Feathers, Gnome Hats, etc.) and Amethysts will be doubled or raised to a minimum of 500 ft for one capture! For example, if the munzee normally requires a capture radius of 300 ft, it will be doubled to 600 ft. And if the munzee normally requires a capture radius of 150 ft, it will be raised to the minimum of 500 ft.

At launch Rover will only help you capture the aforementioned types, however he may be trained to chase other types in the future.

You’ll only see the option to feed Rover a treat if you:

  1. Have a Rover with you AND
  2. Try to capture a virtual scattered munzee or Amethyst that is too far away

This flow should prevent you from wasting Rover Treats, and also ensure that the popup won’t be too disruptive during normal play!

Premium players will receive 1 Rover Treat during this launch! Otherwise, you can pick up Rover Treats in the In-App Store for 40 Zeds, or get a pack of 10 Rover Treats in the Freeze Tag Store for $3.

Rovers Now Available In-App!

If you checked out the In-App Store upon reading the previous paragraph, you most likely noticed another item sitting beside the Rover Treats — that’s right, Rovers are now available in the In-App Store!

As we continue to refine and improve the Munzee app, expect more Rover-related news!

Munzee on!

*Unfortunately, Charge Munzees (scatters that land on another munzee) and MOB scatters (scatters that come from munzees that land on another munzee) are excluded from this, but as stated above, this may change in the future!

Forge Weapon Shards into Something Nameworthy!

After last month’s success with Jewel Shards and their spotlight this month during Jewel Day, we wanted to keep the momentum going and create another shard type! In our quest to create more flexible systems for our players so that they can play their way, we decided that Clan Weapons would be the next priority.

If you’re a new player, you may not have many Clan Weapons yet — but keep reading so that you’re prepared for the future! Otherwise, if you’re an experienced player, you may have an overstock of specific Clan Weapon Credits. You’ll be able to choose if you want to redeem some of your Clan Weapon Credits for Weapon Shards. If you do, you’ll be able to use those Weapon Shards to create new Clan Weapons of your choosing. For example, you may have tons of Maces stored up from past Clan War rewards and have no plans on using them. Now you have the option of breaking some of those Maces into Weapon Shards and using them to get The Hammer. The choice will be yours within the options given.

Don’t worry if you have any Clan Weapon Credits saved up — those will remain. Please also note that only Credits can be converted to Weapon Shards — meaning existing Crossbows and Catapults cannot be converted. However, you will be able to convert Weapon Shards to any of the 6 weapons. Moving forward, Clan Wars will award Weapon Shards instead of specific weapons. Of course, not all Weapons are created equal, so different amounts of Weapon Shards are required to convert to each Clan Weapon type.

You’ll find all the details and conversion rates at munzee.com/redeem. These rewards/rates may change from time to time, and the Trojan Unicorn may even be found. Remember it is archived at the end of each clan war, so choose your timing wisely!

While Weapon Shards are currently only available as trading elements online or Clan War rewards, who knows what the future holds? Perhaps you’ll be able to forge something new? Only time will tell!

Have a Gem of a Weekend with Double Points and More!

As March 13 is National Jewel Day, we thought it was the perfect excuse to put Jewels and Funfinity Stones in the spotlight! This year, on top of double points, we’ve got some special badges for you to earn and more! Read on to get the deets!

Double Points Details

From the period of Thursday, March 11th at 12:00 MHQ through Monday, March 15th at 12:00 MHQ, enjoy double points on ALL Jewel and Funfinity Stone activity!

This includes deploys of new Funfinity Stones, which leads us into the next topic…

Store Sale!

For the same period as double points, Funfinity Stones will be available in the Freeze Tag Store!

This is the perfect opportunity to pick up any that you missed last year, especially if you are looking to earn the Funfinity Bootlet badge!

Limited-Time Badges

For the same period as double points, you can earn a special badge for capturing a certain amount of Jewels, and another for deploying a certain amount of Jewels. If you need any jewels to deploy you can find them in the store or redeem your jewel shards!
You can see what these badges look like below!

We’ll keep the requirements a secret, but they shouldn’t be too hard to get! Please note that these badges will only require Jewel activity, NOT Funfinity Stone activity.

Rover Learned a New Trick!

Perhaps you’ve guessed what it is from the badge image above? Now, when you capture a Jewel while a Rover is with you, you have a small chance of receiving Jewel Shards! This includes Jewels captured using Blasts!

The popup that appears after you’ve captured a Jewel will let you know if Rover has dug up any, so make sure to keep an eye out! You will also find them on your credits list.

If you don’t have a Rover with you and there aren’t any nearby for you to pick up, you can purchase one from the store HERE! To learn more about how Rover works visit our Help Guide article HERE!

We hope you enjoy going on a treasure hunt with an old pal! We’re considering this the first step in our long-awaited Roverhaul.

Jewel Shards are a Smash Hit!

We’re finally ready to give our veteran players a requested feature with a fun twist. Welcome Jewel Shards! Similar to our Hotel renovations with Destination Credits, we wanted to create a more flexible system for Jewels. This is especially true after the warm reception to the Funfinity Stone Pouch Creatures last year.

This new system is designed for experienced players who may have an overstock of specific Jewel Credits. You’ll be able to choose if you want to redeem some of your Jewel Credits for Jewel Shards. If you do, you’ll be able to use those Jewel Shards to create new Jewels of your choosing. For example, you may have tons of Aquamarines stored up from past Clan War rewards and have no plans on using them. Now you have the option of breaking some of those Aquas into Jewel Shards and using them to get a Citrine or a Ruby. The choice will be yours within the options given.

Don’t worry if you have any Jewel Credits saved up — those will remain, and all Jewels can still be purchased in the Freeze Tag online store. Of course, not all Jewels are created equal, so different amounts of Jewel Shards are required to convert to each Jewel type.

You’ll find all the details and conversion rates at munzee.com/redeem.

While Jewel Shards are currently only available as trading elements online, who knows what the future holds? Perhaps a certain bot buddy will help find more, or maybe you’ll earn them in Clan Wars or ZeeOps? Only time will tell!

Munzee on!

FAQ:

Q: I’m a new player with no Jewel Shards and no Jewel credits to exchange. What do I do?
A: Be patient. This is being introduced as a tool for those who have accumulated many credits in order to give them a way to choose what type of Munzee they become and deploy.

Q: Why are the number of Jewel Shards given for a Jewel not the same as the number of Jewel Shards required to get a Jewel?
A: The vast majority of these Jewels were earned as rewards from Clan Wars, Prize Wheels, ZeeOps, and other gameplay activities. The value doesn’t change, but the option to upgrade into a different Jewel is accounted for.

Q: Why can’t I break a virtual Amethyst (or other virtual Jewels) into Jewel Shards?
A: Virtual Jewels are complete munzees in your undeployed list, so it isn’t the same process as exchanging a Jewel Credit for a Jewel Shards credit.

Q: What about Clan Weapons?
A: What about them? ūüėČ Stay tuned for possible expansions into other areas of the game!

Q: Can I trade my credits to another player or give Jewel Shards to another player?
A: Nope.

Bowling Ball Munzee Details

UPDATE: This blog was originally posted in November 2018. As of November 2019, the Bowling Ball Munzee has been updated,  reflected by the information below. You can find complete information about all Gaming Munzees on the Help Guide.

As promised, we have the details for the ALL NEW Bowling Ball Munzee! This addition to the Gaming Munzees is sure to knock a few pins loose! The Bowling Ball point system is based on ten-pin bowling, and you will have a chance to earn more points based on how many ‚Äúpins‚ÄĚ you ‚Äúknock down.‚ÄĚ

BASIC GAMEPLAY:

Bowling Ball Munzee:

Are you ready to play this classic game the Munzee way? Capturing a Bowling Ball will award you 25 points to start. The Bowling Ball Munzee will then initiate a mini-game (within a game, within a game!) for more points. Capturing a Bowling Ball Munzee will lead to a new virtual munzee called ‚ÄúBowling – 1st Roll‚ÄĚ being scattered to a location within 750 ft. You will be able to see the second stage (1st Roll) only after stage one (Bowling Ball) is captured. The scattered munzees will remain active for 1 hour or until captured from within a 150ft distance.¬†

1st Roll Munzee:

Capturing the 1st Roll Munzee, released after Capturing the Bowling Ball, will provide different options for players. If you earn a STRIKE, you will be awarded 300 points, and the game will be done. You also have the opportunity to earn anywhere between 1-9 points (one for each pin ‚Äúknocked‚ÄĚ down), and the game will advance to a virtual ‚Äú2nd Roll,‚ÄĚ which will be scattered within 500ft.

2nd Roll Munzee:

A 2nd Roll Munzee will be made available to players who have capped a Bowling Ball and a 1st Roll and did not earn a Strike on the 1st Roll. When the 2nd Roll Munzee is captured, players will either earn a SPARE and be awarded 150 points, or they will earn between 10-80 points based on number of pins ‚Äúknocked‚ÄĚ down. Either way, this will conclude the game!

POINT BREAKDOWN:

Bowling Ball Munzee

  • Deploy: 50 points
  • Capture: 25 points
  • CapOn: 20 points

Additionally there are a number of different badges you can earn based on capturing the Bowling Ball Munzees, earning Strikes, and earning Spares. Check out the first of each badge line here:

Introducing Mitmegu Pouch Creature!

Joining the ranks of Tuli, Vesi, Muru, and Hadavale, we’re happy to announce the release of our latest Pouch Creature, Mitmegu!

Also known as the ever-changing Pouch Creature, there will be a limited number of Mitmegu Pouch Creatures on sale in the Freeze Tag Online Store starting at 10:00 MHQ on Wednesday, February 6. Be sure to shop fast, because Mitmegu will not be in the store for long! Mitmegu will cost $15, but it can also be upgraded using a Bouncer Upgrade credit (formerly the Myth Upgrade) which costs an additional $5.

When the Bouncer Upgrade credit is used, your Mitmegu will then have the ability to be ‚Äúnudged‚ÄĚ to a new Munzee. Mitmegu

While Mitmegu will be the fourth player-owned Pouch Creature, it will work a bit differently than Tuli, Vesi and Muru. Mitmegu will change forms depending on what it lands on and capture streaks will not impact the changing critter’s evolution.

Mitmegu will land on the following Munzee types:

  • Greenies
  • Shamrock Munzees
  • Scatter Munzees
  • Premium Munzees
  • RPS Munzees

  • If Mitmegu lands on an Earth Mystery Munzee it turns into Rohimegu
  • If Mitmegu lands on a Fire Mystery Munzee it turns into Lokemegu

Mitmegu will retain its number when it changes, and if you upgrade and change its name it will keep that name on all forms. Players can cap Mitmegu on their own munzees as well.

Munzee 4.0 Is Finally HERE! New Features and Updates Explained!

We know that you have all been patiently waiting for the new and improved 4.0 version of the Munzee app, and we are happy to announce that it has finally arrived! That’s right, the wait is over.

You can download the iOS version of the new app HERE!

You can download the Android version of the new app HERE!

This is an entirely new build, so you will not update your current version 3 of the Munzee app. Instead you will need to search for the new version in your phone’s app store. Please remember that the app may take some time to propagate, so if you don’t see it in the App or Google Play Store, just give it some time.¬†We will be keeping version 3 of the app active temporarily, but we do plan to shut down that version in the near future, so just go ahead and download 4.0 today!

But before you jump into the newly updated game, complete with brand new features, allow us to break down some of our favorite things about 4.0!

The latest version of everyone’s favorite game is a foundation for us to build upon. We consider it a vision for the future, with additional tools being added regularly as we move forward. Due to limitations from version 3, we’ve had to delay some awesome features in the past, but this will limit us no more! We have some big ideas ahead, but for now let’s take a look at what 4.0 has to offer!

Main Feature Updates

  • New and improved map loading speed.
  • New square pins for Physical Munzees and round pins for Virtual Munzees.
  • Updated artwork to include all types in pin form to more precisely show the location of the munzee.
  • New interactive walkthrough tutorial hosted by our buddy the newly energized Rover.
  • Reorganization of filters into categories, making them easier to sort through.
  • Players can now combine multiple premium filters at a time.
  • Larger, cleaner font throughout the game.
  • Improved compass that more clearly indicates the Northern point.
  • Improved follow feature to keep player marker centered on the map.
  • New in-app announcements system that will deliver news directly to the players.

Additional Updates

  • The Munzee capture button at the bottom changes between square and round depending on the type selected on the map so you always know which type you’re looking for.
  • Pouch Creatures and Evolution Munzees now include stage numbers.
  • New “All Alternamyths” and “All Places” premium filters.
  • Filters are now applied immediately. Players do not need to save each time they choose filters.
  • Players can now see what filters they have set for each preset, making it easier to edit and make changes.
  • Magnet and Special timers now show down to the minutes/seconds.
  • Added a new “Inventory” section to the profile, making it more clear to new players what they have available to deploy.
  • Players can now quickly tap to capture from the List view using the new green arrow buttons, instead of sliding the entry in the list then tapping to cap.
  • Tapping on badge notifications in the activity feed now takes you to that specific badge in your collection.¬†
  • Added countdown timer to the leaderboards for when it will reset in MHQ time.

Share with Friends

We know that playing Munzee can be a bit overwhelming to new players, but many of our most diehard fans appreciate the complexity and pride that comes with mastering this multi-layered game. Luckily with our new in-app tutorial for new players, it’s easier than ever to introduce new players to Munzee. That’s why we’re asking our players to share 4.0 with their friends and family!¬†

As a limited time extension to our current Munzee Referral Program,¬†we will host a referral contest starting next week! Help us share the new app and Grow the Game for a chance to earn a limited edition badge, prizes, and more! We’ll have more information next week, but this contest will not be retroactive, and it will only run from February 1 through 28.

While you’re waiting for those details, though, head over to the Freeze Tag Online Store and download a free Custom Referral Card. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to introduce new players to the game and get rewarded for it. The Custom Referral Card will contain your personal Referral code to share with new players. The more shares, the more rewards!

We will also be running several sales tomorrow in celebration of the 4.0 update release! There will be a separate blog post detailing those sales today at 12:00 MHQ, and all sales will begin at 12:15 MHQ.

We know this is long overdue, but we can’t explain enough how many possibilities this opens for the future. The whole team has worked so hard for this release, and we’re ready to keep the momentum moving forward! Thank you to the beta testers for their support (and constructive criticisms) throughout this process. This app would not be what it is today if it wasn’t for them.

Lastly we’d like to give a BIG thank you to all of our players for all of your patience. Thank you for the feedback! Thank you for helping us build the map! Thank you to the many who devote daily dedication to playing Munzee! We wouldn’t be here without you!

So go check out 4.0! Happy Hunting, and Munzee On!

Begin your Adventure with Trail Munzee Badges!

One of the best parts about Munzee is the opportunity to explore new places, so we decided to drop nine new badges for activity on¬†Trail Munzees. These badges will drop today (1/29) at 10:00 MHQ. That means if you’re reading this, you have the opportunity to earn them!

As many of you know, the Trail Munzees are deployed in a path that leads other players to a place worth seeing. These munzees can form a tour to one of your favorite local hangs, or lead others to a site that makes your town unique. As long as they get you out of the house and exploring, the Trail Munzees are doing their job!

Overall there with be nine new Trail Munzee badges being released today. These badges will be retroactive. There will be 3 badges for capturing Trail Munzees, 3 badges for deploying Trail Munzees, and 3 badges for completing entire Trails.

All Trail Munzee types will count towards these badges:
