June Garden Gnome Reminder + July Preview!

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into July with your desired Garden Gnomes! The skin for completing your June capture streak (and the corresponding badge) will be awarded in early July, but we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store!

June Garden Gnome Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Garden Gnome yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $7.

Each month, the price of a Garden Gnome will decrease by $1. However, players can only purchase 1 Garden Gnome every 28 days.

If you’re planning to complete the capture streaks for each month (and made the initial purchase in January) you’ll have 12 different skins to choose from! So be sure to purchase one each month so you can have a complete bench of these athletic Garden Gnomes!

We also released special Reseller Garden Gnomes in March — if you’re interested, you can check out our blog post on them HERE!

July Garden Gnome Details

What Gnome Skin can you look forward to receiving in July? The out-of-the-park Baseball Garden Gnome! Like the other gnomes, the Baseball Garden Gnome is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until 23:59 MHQ on December 31.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to have completed this month’s (June’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in July, you can change the skin on the gnome to this one at any point — refer to our original blog post for the instructions!

Points

  • Capture: 250
  • CapOn: 300

You can find these home run hitters sprinting to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Baseball Garden Gnome will scatter up to 3 NEW Gnome Catcher’s Caps nearby when it is captured!

Like the other Gnome Hats, the Gnome Catcher’s Cap will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Gnome owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These hat scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Gnome Hats are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

The Baseball Garden Gnome will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Baseball Garden Gnomes on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Baseball Garden Gnome visits you. Baseball Garden Gnomes are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Baseball Garden Gnomes by turning on your “All Limited Edition Specials” and “All Expiring Specials” filters.

Badges

As a reminder, Garden Gnomes have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more gnomes you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned gnome!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many gnomes as you can find!

While we revealed images for the first of each badge line in the original post, we are happy to show you the “Unique type deploy” and “Unique type capture” badges associated with the Baseball Garden Gnome:

We hope you don’t strike out while earning July’s Gnome Skin! Don’t forget to keep your streak up through July — you’ll need to in order to earn the August Gnome Skin!

Meet Munzee Munday: Matt McCann

Here at Munzee we’re constantly encouraging our players to meet and greet and build the personal relationships that make this game so great. Over the next few weeks we’ll be showcasing members of Team Munzee so our players can get to know us a bit better. So each Munday (see what we did there?) check in to see a new member of Team Munzee and you decide if you trust the game in our hands. We may still call him The Intern, but this week’s Munzee Team member does far more than fetch coffee. Meet marketer Matt McCann!

Name and Title:
Matthew McCann, Business Development/Marketing

2014-06-18 10.20.52Where are you from?
I was born in Lake Havasu, Arizona and moved 4 times (California, New Mexico, and Kansas) before my family finally settled in Port Isabel, Texas when I was 6. I spent most of my life there before moving up to Dallas for college. I’ve been here for four years now.

Tell us about yourself:
Sports, craft beer, and technology are the things my life revolves around when I’m not in school (yes, I’m still attending UT Dallas) or at work. I love to travel, especially for sports, and I’m on a mission to visit all MLB ballparks. I also spend quite a bit of time binge watching movies and TV shows.

How long have you worked for Munzee?
About two months.

climbHow did you find Munzee?
I actually knew Rob (President of Munzee) and TJ (VP of Operations and Marketing) from Allen Americans (our local CHL hockey team) games. We met before either started working for Munzee, and when they joined the Munzee team, I learned more and more about it. When I was looking for work earlier this year, I inquired with TJ, interviewed for the job and started work a week later.

What do you enjoy most about Munzee?
For anyone that’s been to MHQ or met members of the Munzee team, one thing is apparent: this isn’t just a job. The members of the Munzee team are invested in the game and players. We may have laid back attitudes, but our work is top priority. We do everything we can to make the game better and grow our player base.

IMG_2088What are some of your other hobbies?
Tying back into what I said earlier, sports and technology consume my life. I can usually be found watching a sport (baseball, soccer, and hockey are my favorites) in my free time. I also play on an indoor soccer team. I’m also a huge SciFi nerd. I love Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Superman. While I’m watching any of these things, I’m usually tinkering on my computer, phone, or tablet. I started learning coding (PHP, Java, and HTML/CSS) for fun. Music is my other passion whether it be listening, making, or editing. I treat myself to concerts when I can, and I’ve edited music for teams and individuals competing in dance competitions.

Famous last words?
“This is who I am, right here, right now, all right? All that counts is here and now, and this is me!” – The Doctor
