A Gameplay Survey for 2022!

It’s been a while since our last big survey — can you believe it’s been 2 years already? We are getting to a point where we can start planning new things — so we thought it would be prudent to check in with the community via a new survey!

The link to the survey is HERE, but read on for more details regarding the survey and prize drawing!

Survey Details

Like our past surveys, this survey does not collect e-mail addresses, nor will it require sign-in to Google. We’ve chosen to go this route since we want to make it as open to everyone as possible — some people may not be comfortable sharing their e-mail address, others may not have a Google account.

You’ll find that the questions at the beginning of the survey ask for some basic information about you — this is just to get a general idea of our our current player base, and will not be used to identify you in any way, even if you choose to enter the prize drawing (more details on it below). If you’ve filled out our past surveys, many of these questions will likely be familiar to you.

The survey will then shift to more opinion-based questions — feel free to type as much as you’d like (or as much as the Google Form will allow)! We do read every response, though it may take us a while to get through everything.

Once again, the link to the survey is HERE.

Prize Drawing Details

To sweeten the deal, we’ll be doing another random prize drawing! Like in our past surveys, you have the option to submit your username at the end for an entry. Please note the following:

  • Usernames will ONLY be used to conduct this prize drawing.
    • As mentioned above, even if you do enter in your Munzee username, we will not use the data in this survey to identify you in any way. The survey data will remain in this Google Form, separate from the Munzee databases.
  • Multiple entries will disqualify you from winning.
    • We’d like the data to be as accurate as possible — multiple entries from the same people will artificially sway the data a certain way.
  • We will determine the total number of winners based on the number of unique survey responses — said another way, the more players that fill out the survey, the more winners there will be!
    • However, as mentioned in the previous bullet points, please DO NOT fill out the survey multiple times as this will cause our data to be inaccurate, and we will disqualify anyone with multiple entries.
    • DO ask any of your Munzee friends and family to fill out the survey, if they don’t know about it already!
  • Entering the prize drawing is OPTIONAL.
    • If you are not comfortable with having your Munzee username tied to your response, you can certainly leave the field blank.
    • That being said, you should have nothing to fear — we will never punish players for writing honest opinions in this survey. If there is something we can improve, this survey and support@munzee.com are the best places for you to tell us.

The survey will be closed some time on April 1st — and no, this is not a joke. We are looking forward to hearing from everyone!

2019 In Review

Last year was definitely a year of change as we released an update that was a long time coming — Munzee 4.0! We appreciate all of the players, old and new, who have continued to support the game. It is for you that we are constantly dreaming up ways to make the game more dynamic and the app more friendly! On that note, we’d like to celebrate some key points that the Munzee Community has achieved last year:

Recruiting New Players

As a worldwide geo-location based game, our aim is to continue to expand and grow the community. After all, it’s more fun playing with more people!

  • 65,495 new players started playing Munzee in 2019
    • 83% more than 2018

Recycling Program Revamp

In April we announced QRew, a junior version of the ZeeQRew program, which allowed players to replace missing or damaged Munzees once they met certain requirements. Along with this update we also launched the new QRewzee Munzee, which gave the added incentive of receiving more points after replacing and capturing newly replaced Munzees. This seemed to have a tremendous effect on the number of Munzees that have been replaced over the past year.

  • 95,131 Munzees replaced in 2019
    • 200% more than 2018

New Map Layers

In June we split Physical and Virtual Munzees to sit on their own map layer, along with Flat, Temporary and Event Munzees each being on their own layers as well. This essentially doubled the amount of space available for new Munzees to be deployed, which in turn provided more Munzees to be captured.

  • 80,034,191 Munzees captured in 2019
  • 5,419,442 Munzee deployed in 2019
    • 19% more than 2018

Munzee Events

In September we streamlined our Event Process by making Event Packages available in the Freeze Tag Store. Since event hosts usually purchase the same items for their events every time, we developed different packages based on commonly ordered items. Of course, any additional requests are still handled by our trusty Global Events Director Louise! Purchasing these new event packages sends event hosts all the information they need in an automatic e-mail. We also updated our Help Guide to help walk event hosts through the process!

  • 517 events held worldwide in 2019
  • 12,648 attendees total in 2019

Clan Wars Revamp

In October we released a major update to the clan wars system, allowing teams of less than 10 players to participate and the ability for clans to recruit throughout the month. Along with this update we added a brand new Clan Wars section in the app, which allows players to create/join clans and track their progress on challenge requirements for each battle. We’re ecstatic to see that this has encouraged more players to join in on Clan Wars!

  • 9% more players participating in Clan Wars than 2018
  • 25% more clans reached Level 1 or higher in 2019 after the update
  • 52% more clans reached Level 3 in 2019 after the update

If you haven’t already…

Once again, thank you for everything you have done to help grow the game and support other members of the community!

Sound Off in Our New Survey!

Back in September, we circulated a survey with some questions we had about Munzee gameplay. We got a great number of responses, and released some of the results when the survey period ended in October. The team found the results extremely valuable, since they let us know which areas we were on track in, and which we need to work on. We also came up with more ideas to improve the game based on the results. After doing a lot of brainstorming for this year, we have a ton of ideas we’d like to run by you, the players!

The link to the survey is HERE.

To sweeten the deal, we’ll be doing another random prize drawing! Like in our previous survey, you can submit your username at the end for an entry.

The survey will be closed at the end of February (Leap Day). We are looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Announcing Survey Results and Selected Winners!

Last month we released a poll requesting player feedback, and we’re happy to report that the responses were plentiful! Today we’re going to share some of the general consensuses gathered from the survey, as well as announce the participating survey players who were randomly selected to receive prizes. A big thank you goes out to everyone who took the time to send us your feedback in an effort to make Munzee the best player experience as possible! We’re excited to share with you what fellow players had to say about gameplay!

Survey Winners

Before we get into the survey feedback, let’s first announce the winners! Though players were able to submit the survey anonymously, those who entered their usernames were all submitted to a randomized prize drawing. We’re happy to announce that the following 10 players were all randomly selected to be awarded 2 Virtuals, 2 virtual colors, 1 virtual Joystick, and 1 Blast Cap! The lucky winners are:

  • ACCLanMan
  • gingercurlz
  • janzattic
  • jurikvandspol
  • madewell
  • OldSchoolSkater
  • SolWalk74
  • ufrie
  • xCrooksy
  • TX_Diva

Congratulations to these 10 players for being randomly selected! Your prizes have been added to your accounts!

Survey Feedback

The results are in! While we won’t be revealing all of our player feedback for the sake of brevity, we are excited to share several key things we learned from player responses. Due to a very large sample size, the following results have terrific projectability and a very low margin of error of only 1-2%. That means we are thrilled to place a confidence level of 95% on the following results.

Favorite Part of Gameplay

We asked players to reveal their favorite part of Munzee gameplay, and it turns out that the majority of players (66.6%) prefer both physical and virtual gameplay equally, striking a comfortable balance. 21.3% of players preferred strictly virtual play, while only 12.1% enjoyed just physical play. It appears that many players enjoy mastering the many aspects of Munzee.

Rate of Release

With different munzees released at a fairly consistent rate, we decided to see if players were overwhelmed or underwhelmed by any release rates.  It turns out that players reported the rate of release being “just right” for new Munzee Owned Bouncers (52.69%), Player Owned Bouncers (48.66%), and permanent Munzee types (54.03%). These statistics reveal that the majority of players are quite pleased with current gameplay release rates.

Biggest Benefit of Munzee

Here at Munzee, we’re all about playing your way, which led us to ask a very important question that yielded some pleasant results: what do you think is the biggest benefit of playing Munzee? Turns out that the most players enjoy keeping active (45.3%), followed by exploring new areas (27.6%), collecting different game pieces (10.3%), and meeting new people/players (9.7%).

Thanks again to all players who took the time to respond to the survey and provide feedback! We love hearing your ideas, suggestions, and feedback. We’ll keep all of these results in mind for future expansion and releases!
